Chapter 4: No text messages, yay!

Chapter 4 No text messages? Great!

"The student who was bullied at school chose to seek revenge..."

Wang Yong lowered his voice, stared at Yue Yiyue, and said slowly and deliberately, "Come back again, and don't let a single one escape."

As the sound rang out, the light above Wang Yong's head flickered on and off, and a rattling sound came from outside the window, as if a strong wind had picked up.

The classroom fell silent for a moment. Yue Yiyue subconsciously looked out the window, not knowing when the weather had turned from sunny to cloudy, and a storm was brewing.

"You're just talking nonsense. This script will probably end up being some kind of revenge story." A scoff came from the corner, breaking the somewhat heavy atmosphere.

Zhang Yang fiddled with his hair and said dismissively, "I can figure out how the murderer confessed to killing people after going through a series of events without even being hit."

"That would be too boring." Wang Yong chuckled and mysteriously picked up a bag from the side: "I looked at the analysis, and there's a scene involving a sacrifice. It requires some kind of red candle, so I brought it over, along with some paper money."

"Wow, this is a big deal, an immersive murder mystery game!" Zhao Heyi leaned closer and said, "I knew you could handle this."

After saying that, he waved to the person sitting in the corner: "Yue Yiyue, come sit over here, let's draw character cards together."

Suddenly called out, Yue Yiyue hesitated, glancing at the excellent escape spot he had chosen, then at the place they were pointing to.

Under the eager gaze of his classmates, Yue Yiyue still moved the chair over.

However, the chosen spot was still very close to the classroom door, making it seem like this person was ready to run away at any moment.

"There's no need to use paper money and candles in the teaching building. These things are open flames and not safe." Yue Yiyue licked his lips and seriously suggested, "If you set fire to the school, you'll end up in jail before your wonderful college years even begin."

She had thought about these words in her mind more than twenty times, so there shouldn't be any problem.

But perhaps she was too optimistic.

After she finished speaking, no one responded. In fact, apart from Gu Nanqiu, the rest of the classmates looked at Yue Yiyue with a very strange expression.

Only the sound of breathing.

The strange silence made Yue Yiyue lower his head, nervously rubbing his hands together, subconsciously reviewing what he had just said.

Is there a problem?

Did I say something wrong?

"Indeed, Yue Yiyue really noticed the details." A clear female voice came from the center, as if a savior had descended.

Yue Yiyue looked up and stared blankly at the smiling, kind-looking boy in the center, his eyes filled with astonishment.

Noticing Yue Yiyue's gaze, Gu Nanqiu turned her head to look at Yue Yiyue. There were two small teeth marks on her slightly dry lips, as if she had unconsciously bitten them while thinking.

Handing over a bottle of water, Gu Nanqiu pointed to the slogan next to the blackboard: "You really have to be careful about fire hazards."

"Oh, right, this." Wang Yong paused for a moment, then rolled his eyes twice before quickly picking up the thread. He patted his chest and said confidently, "Don't worry about that. I just found an open space outside and set up two tables. Don't worry, I know this basic common sense."

Looking at Yue Yiyue's timid appearance, Wang Yong cursed inwardly as a troublemaker and impatiently waved the lighter in his hand.

"Zhao Heyi, what are you waiting for? Hand out the identity tokens."

His tone was somewhat sharp, and it sounded like he was a little displeased.

Zhao Heyi, wearing glasses, seemed to wake up from a dream. He reluctantly looked away, took the box, and coughed a few times: "Welcome to Class 3, Grade 2. Today we have gathered everyone here to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the school's founding."

He read the plot aloud in a dry, monotonous way.

The people around found it too boring and started to jeer, saying, "If you don't have any emotion, let Wang Yong start the show."

Zhang Yang, who was closest to the door, stood up abruptly, closed the front and back doors, and drew the curtains, leaving only the top of Zhao Heyi's head exposed. The howling wind outside the window became the perfect accompaniment for the game.

"That's clever, the atmosphere is just right, hurry up, hurry up." Wang Xiaoyan smiled and nudged Zhang Yang with her elbow.

"Wang Xiaoyan, you pinched me too hard. Go get your identity token. Oh, right, there's a sacrifice scene later in the story. We assume Nanqiu is the ghost, and that's the only part where you need to stand there." Zhang Yang looked at Gu Nanqiu as if he were looking at a perfect work of art, his eyes gleaming with a strange light. His words were mumbled and unclear.

She pulled out an identity card and handed it to Gu Nanqiu, unconsciously patting his hand as she released it: "I really don't know who's so lucky to have given it to you..."

Zhang Yang's expression changed so quickly that Yue Yiyue thought he had misread it before Gu Nanqiu stuffed another card into his hand.

Her attention returned to the cards in front of her, which read "Script Number Four".

A sound of a chair being dragged rang out.

"Who can help me get script number six?" Gu Nanqiu was holding some snacks, seemingly planning to share them with everyone.

Having just received the script, Zhang Yang checked what she had in her hand and immediately handed it to Gu Nanqiu, then sat down next to her.

Gu Nanqiu glanced at the cover, a slight smile playing on her lips. She gestured for it to be placed on the table, then handed over a bottle of Want Want milk: "A thank you gift~"

This expression made Zhang Yang's face flush red, and she quickly waved her hand, saying, "You're welcome, it's my pleasure."

But then she thought that she couldn't keep such a smile to herself, so she took the milk with a little disappointment and sat back down.

After finishing her own business, Gu Nanqiu looked at Yue Yiyue, who was standing not far away, struggling to find the script. She placed the last of the snacks on the table with some concern: "I'll go check on Yiyue first. It seems he was careless and mixed them up."

"Yes, that's why you often take care of her. Nanqiu, you're such a kind person." Zhang Yang watched the girl leave with some resentment. She carefully sniffed the faint scent left by the girl in the air, and then very carefully placed her hand on the still warm chair, feeling the lingering warmth.

Fortunately, Gu Nanqiu didn't have anyone she liked, and she treated everyone equally.

Except for Yue Yiyue, who received special treatment because of that incident...

Out of Yue Yiyue's sight, Zhang Yang stared at Yue Yiyue with a twisted expression. Something was slowly sliding up her ankle from behind, and if you listened carefully, you could hear whispering: "We need to find a way... We can't let her go back... Since she likes it so much... she should stay here..."

Wang Xiaoyan plopped down next to him, looking at Zhang Yang coldly: "Don't forget, Nanqiu belongs to all of us."

She emphasized the last few words, as if she were stressing something.

"Shouldn't you say that to Yue Yiyue? If it weren't for that incident, I would be the one standing by Nan Qiu's side." Zhang Yang was suddenly interrupted, and she didn't hide her malice towards Yue Yiyue, speaking impatiently.

Zhao Heyi patted Zhang Yang on the shoulder: "Isn't this game all for this purpose? After it's over, things will return to normal, as long as it ends smoothly..."

The rest of the words were mumbled, but the other three heard them clearly. They stared intently at the tall, elegant man standing by the table under the spotlight, their eyes filled with greed. They felt that the thing standing next to them was in their way.

Things that are in the way should be dealt with first, shouldn't they?

————

"It's this." Slender, long fingers slowly and methodically tidied up the mess on the table, then pulled out what Yue Yiyue was looking for.

The pale hand had slightly bulging veins, and Yue Yiyue inexplicably thought that perhaps nurses would enjoy giving injections to hands like that.

Her beautiful hand slightly curved as she tapped the table, producing a crisp tapping sound, before Yue Yiyue finally realized what was happening.

She quickly took the script: "Sorry, there's a lot of stuff piled up here, I missed it."

"Yiyue, you're always like this. We're all used to it, you're so silly." Gu Nanqiu chuckled softly, her doting tone making Yue Yiyue a little uncomfortable.

But as she got closer to Gu Nanqiu, the memories that kept popping into her head kept telling her, yes, that's right, your relationship is that good.

The image of the two of them eating together flashed through Gu Nanqiu's mind as she listened to her complaints.

Is it really that good? It seems like I've forgotten something.

I forgot something important, like my diary...

Yue Yiyue nodded hesitantly: "Thank you for always taking care of me."

Just now, if Gu Nanqiu hadn't saved the day, Wang Yong would definitely have lost his temper. After she finished speaking, she reviewed the situation three times before realizing that her words had ruined a major event in the original story, which was also a very important point in the sacrificial plot.

But since Gu Nanqiu had spoken up, he could only vent his anger on Zhao Heyi.

After all, that was Gu Nanqiu, whom everyone loved.

The location of the sacrifice has changed, and she wondered if it would affect the subsequent plot. She ran her fingers over the script, recalling the plot that followed.

It seems like everyone has a chance to escape before the game officially starts.

"Alright, now let's read the script." Zhao Heyi walked up to the podium, waving the script in his hand and interrupting Yue Yiyue's thoughts.

She looked up at Zhao Heyi, who was the host, and pointed to the sofa behind her, saying, "Nanqiu, why don't you sit on that soft sofa in the back? We can't sit too close together."

Following the direction of the finger, Yue Yiyue discovered that a small empty space had appeared at the back of the classroom at some point.

There was a genuine leather sofa, and as if to prevent people sitting on it from getting cold from the hard leather, a layer of brightly colored soft cloth was placed on it.

That's strange, was it in this room before?

Is it in the original work?

“Okay, can Yiyue sit near me?” Gu Nanqiu asked without any hesitation, as if she had known this would be the arrangement all along: “We’ll be going back together later to discuss going to school together.”

Instantly, everyone in the room turned to look at Yue Yiyue. They hid the deepest malice in their eyes, and smiled. For a moment, strange noises seemed to echo in the classroom.

But upon closer listening, it seemed only Wang Yong was there. He turned around stiffly, and Yue Yiyue gave a strange smile, his voice somewhat ethereal: "Alright, after all, even a king needs knights."
