Chapter 564 Gu Feng (1/2)

Chapter 564 Gu Feng Gu Feng watched Gu Luo's back as he washed the dishes, and he could guess with his toes what Shen Qingling was upstairs planning.

She simply wanted to be closer to Gu Luo, to have more opportunities to spend time together, so that she could have the advantage of being in a good position.

But he couldn't interfere. First, he couldn't restrict her freedom, and second, Shen Qingling's family background was unfathomable, even Luo Liang had to think twice about it, not to mention that his family still owed her a favor because of Gu Ximan's fainting incident last time.

Thinking of this, a thought suddenly flashed through Gu Feng's mind: This is fine too.

Shen Qingling's presence at least diverts outsiders' attention from the Luo sisters.

Gu Luo's entanglements with both the eldest and second young ladies of the Luo family are not a good thing if word gets out. With Shen Qingling as a "shield," there will be less criticism.

Once Luo Shuhe and Luo Shuning have settled their score, everything will be over.

He simply didn't believe that Shen Qingling could steal Gu Luo away from the two Luo sisters.

But as soon as the thought popped into his head, Gu Feng suppressed it and couldn't help but sigh again. In the end, he would have to pay back the emotional debts of this child himself.

He patted Gu Luo on the shoulder, gave her a few simple instructions such as "Take good care of Xiao Man at school" and "Get along well with your classmates," and then turned and left the kitchen.

Shen Qingling was no longer in the living room; under the warm yellow light, only Gu Ximan sat cross-legged on the sofa.

She was holding a cushion in her arms, with a bag of snacks on her lap, scooping matcha daifuku into her mouth while staring at the TV screen, occasionally making "tsk tsk" sounds of appreciation, just like she did in the Luo family apartment.

Seeing this, Gu Feng immediately put on a flattering smile, tiptoed over, sat down on the sofa next to her, and deliberately softened his voice: "Xiao Man, is this drama good? It looks like that popular fantasy drama recently."

As he spoke, he leaned closer to the television screen, trying to find some common ground for conversation.

Gu Ximan seemed to have mastered the art of keeping silent, not even lifting her eyelids, completely ignoring him.

She stared intently at the fight scene on TV, scooping up another large piece of dessert with her spoon, her cheeks puffed out, completely ignoring Gu Feng beside her.

Gu Feng wasn't annoyed at all; on the contrary, he was very patient and just sat there watching with her. Occasionally, he would nod gently along with the plot. The only sounds in the living room were the dialogue from the TV and the soft sounds of Gu Ximan chewing.

When Gu Luo finished washing the dishes and came out, she saw the father and daughter sitting separately on the sofa. She shook her head helplessly, gave Gu Feng a look, and then turned and went to the bathroom.

The sound of running water came from the end of the corridor. He had deliberately left a private space for the father and daughter, who were still having a tiff, to have a proper chat.

The silence in the living room lasted for another ten minutes or so, just as the TV was showing the climax of the scene where the male and female leads recognized each other.

Gu Feng seemed to have made up his mind. He turned slightly towards Gu Ximan and said in a light voice, as if he were commenting on a plot: "Xiaoman, actually Xiao Luo is not my biological son."

These words struck Gu Ximan like a thunderbolt, instantly stunning her.

Her expression froze abruptly, and the spoon in her hand fell into the snack bag with a clatter, splashing matcha cream onto the cushion.

The next second, she lost her grip on the daifuku and it fell to the floor with a "thud," leaving a small stain of dark sauce on the light-colored carpet.

Her eyes suddenly widened, her pupils contracted slightly, and she opened her mouth but couldn't make a sound. She turned to look at Gu Feng beside her in disbelief, her mind blank, as if she had been hit hard on the head with a club.

She knew that Tang Qi was Gu Luo's biological mother. She originally thought it was just a grudge between the older generation. Gu Feng and Tang Qi had feelings for each other when they were young, but they separated for various reasons. Gu Luo just lived with his father.

She never imagined that Gu Luo was not Gu Feng's biological son. This realization hit her like a boulder, crashing into her heart and creating a huge wave.

At that moment, she suddenly understood everything.

Why did Gu Luo, who clearly knew of Tang Qi's existence, deliberately suppress it and refuse to acknowledge her?

Perhaps Gu Luo had already guessed it, but he didn't want to break the ice, didn't want to disrupt his current life, and didn't want to cast a shadow on his "father-son relationship" with Gu Feng.

Gu Ximan's fingers clenched unconsciously, her nails digging deep into her palms. She didn't even notice the dessert on the carpet sticking to her slippers. She just stared straight at Gu Feng, her eyes filled with shock and confusion.

Seeing her like this, Gu Feng's heart sank. He reached out to pat her shoulder, but stopped halfway and sighed heavily.

The cheers on TV continued, but the temperature in the living room seemed to have dropped to freezing.

Gu Ximan stared at Gu Feng's calm profile, her Adam's apple bobbing violently twice, and she swallowed hard.

The sweetness of the matcha that was just in my mouth has completely dissipated, leaving only a bitter taste at the back of my tongue.

Her voice trembled violently, the last syllable shaking: "Dad... what did you say?"

She leaned forward, her eyes still glistening with tears, and asked with a last glimmer of hope, "You're joking, right? You're definitely just messing with me, aren't you?"
