Chapter 603 My Daughter Wants to Rebel Once

Chapter 603 Daughter Wants to Rebel Once "Yes." Lu Xuexue nodded frankly, her eyes shining with determination: "I like him, and I want to pursue my own happiness. There's nothing to hide."

The living room fell silent again, with only the ticking of the wall clock.

Lu Lei closed his eyes and tapped his fingers lightly on his knees—his keen senses as a top lawyer made him feel that his daughter wasn't telling the truth.

After an unknown amount of time, he suddenly opened his eyes, took out his phone from the inside pocket of his suit, opened his chat history with Lu Xuexue, and turned the screen towards Lu Xuexue: "Just after 8:30, you suddenly sent a message asking us to go to the city center to buy you a cake... and then on the way, we saw you and Gu Luo hugging on a street corner."

At this point, his brows furrowed tightly, and his tone became serious: "Xuexue, are you doing this on purpose? What exactly are you planning to do? Your relationship with Gu Luo is probably not as simple as you say, is it?"

Lu Xuexue pursed her lips; she hadn't expected her father, caught up in his emotions, to notice this detail.

She lowered her eyelashes, looked at the orange pulp on the floor, and fell silent—she did have her own thoughts, but she couldn't tell her parents about them yet.

An eerie silence fell over the atmosphere once again.

Lu Lei finally broke the silence, his deep voice carrying the scrutiny characteristic of a lawyer: "Xuexue, what exactly happened?"

Lu Xuexue tilted her head slightly, looked at the splattered orange segment on the coffee table, sighed softly, her voice as light as a feather: "I just wanted to see what fate had in store."

As soon as she finished speaking, she suddenly looked up, a faint smile playing on her lips, but her eyes were unusually serious: "Dad, Mom, I really love Gu Luo very much, and I really want to marry her. But please forgive me for not being able to tell you the reasons right now."

"No way!" Lin Ting jumped up from the sofa, leaning forward. "This has to be made clear! Do you know what 'stealing someone' and 'going to a hotel' mean? How important a girl's reputation is!"

Her voice rose, filled with barely suppressed urgency, and her eyes reddened even more.

"Mom, Dad," Lu Xuexue's voice was even softer, yet it carried an undeniable firmness: "I've always been obedient since I was little, I've never made a mistake, and I've always been number one in exams. You hope I'll become a lawyer in the future, so I'll memorize all the legal provisions by heart..."

She paused, then gently touched her lower abdomen, where the warmth from her embrace with Gu Luo still lingered. "But this time, my daughter wants to rebel."

“I belong to Brother Gu in life and in death.” Lu Xuexue said, word by word, her gaze sweeping over her parents’ shocked faces: “If you don’t agree, I won’t take the medicine. Brother Gu and I didn’t use protection. Of course, this was my idea.”

"You! You're going to drive me crazy!" Lin Ting's fingers trembled violently as she pointed at Lu Xuexue's nose, her eyes filled with unfamiliarity, as if she were seeing her daughter for the first time: "How could you say such a thing? How could you do such a thing?"

She swayed and almost fell back onto the sofa. Lu Lei quickly reached out to support her arm, his face so serious it could drip water.

"Then I'll take that as your agreement." Lu Xuexue ignored her mother's unsteady appearance and slowly stood up.

She went to the entryway to change her shoes, her voice as calm as if she were saying something completely ordinary: "I won't be back tonight. Oh, Mom and Dad, could you please ask the school for a few days off? I want to spend some time with Brother Gu."

"You dare to step out of this house and try!" Lin Ting roared, but Lu Lei held her shoulders down tightly.

Lu Xuexue put on her shoes, placed her hand on the doorknob, paused for two seconds, but ultimately did not turn around. She left only a light "I don't regret it" before gently opening the door, letting the cold wind from the hallway rush into the living room, shutting out her parents' calls behind her.

Let's go back to before we left the restaurant.
