Chapter 284: The Treasure of Smaug

These metals decomposed and fused in the air, and after a few breaths they formed a long metal chain that tied up the dying Smaug on the ground.

The residents of Changhu Town were stunned by the unbelievable scene.

Even though all the horseshoes in the house were looted, no one dared to say a word.

Looking at the tightly tied Smaug, Li Yunlong turned around and said, "Mission accomplished, let's go find our new friend!"

Guts let out a frustrated sigh, hefted the half-damaged Dragon Slayer Sword onto his shoulder, and nodded silently.

The Skeleton Knight turned around and asked, "Are you and him or me?"

Of the three, Guts is the only one who can't fly.

Of course, his speed, relying on brute force to launch himself like a cannonball, was not slow, but it was not elegant enough in front of new friends.

Although he was more familiar with the Skeleton Knight, Gus still moved a little closer to Li Yunlong when he saw the skeleton warhorse under the other party's crotch.

The three were about to leave when they suddenly saw a man rushing towards them.

"Wait a minute, everyone!"

Bud finally found an opportunity and rushed over.

He looked at the three people with burning eyes, unable to conceal the admiration and adoration in his eyes.

"What's up?" Gus asked.

"Thank you for getting rid of the dragon. Please allow me to express my sincere gratitude on behalf of the residents of Changhu Town..." After complimenting him for a few times, Bard changed the subject and said, "I wonder if the three of you can let us show our hospitality..."

Before he could finish his words, he was interrupted by the Skeleton Knight: "We still have things to do."

Seeing the three were about to leave again, Bard chased after them and asked, "Can the three heroes tell me your names?"

"We are just passers-by," Li Yunlong thought that he had borrowed the metal from the townspeople to make chains to bind the dragon. Even if this could be considered as a reward for helping them get rid of the dragon, it was taken without asking for permission, so he became more patient and said, "If you want to thank me, you can find..."

"By the way, what's our new friend's name?" He looked at Gus.

Gus scratched his head, apparently having forgotten the hobbit's name as well.

"Dwarf." Gus took a long time to utter these three words.

"Hobbit!" the Skeleton Knight corrected. "We forgot to ask his name."

"Oh, yes, that Hobbit." said Li Yunlong.

Bard immediately thought of the hobbits who had left with the dwarves a few days ago.

He thanked them sincerely, but saw that several people had already taken off and were flying towards the lonely mountain.

His eyes were filled with longing, and he made up his mind to go to the Hobbit for advice.

Where do these godlike beings come from?

If the tribesmen also possessed the same power, why would they worry about the threats from evil dragons, fire demons, and even orcs!

On top of Lonely Mountain.

Bilbo is explaining to the dwarves.

He did not hide the existence of the tavern, but he did not say that others could be invited into the tavern.

Firstly, he didn't know the tavern well enough and only vaguely knew the invitation rules.

Secondly, because of Smaug's previous test, he was somewhat wary of the dwarves.

Especially when he saw the obsessed look on the dwarf leader Thorin's face when he got the Arkenstone, he had a bad feeling in his heart.

"So they are not all-powerful gods?" Thorin asked.

"They say they are only ordinary humans," said Bilbo.

"No ordinary human can fly!" said a dwarf.

"It should be some powerful wizard force," Thorin said carefully, "The place you went to earlier should be their wizard tower."

Bilbo scratched his head, feeling that something was not right, but he did not want to explain.

Looking at Thorin with flickering eyes, the bad feeling in his heart became stronger and stronger.

really!

When Bilbo saw Gus and others flying over, his face was filled with excitement.

Thorin's arrogant attitude poured cold water on him.

"Welcome to the Lonely Mountain. I am Thorin II, Lord of the Lonely Mountain and King of Dwarves!" Thorin looked arrogant.

Li Yunlong glanced casually and then looked away.

He had no interest in dealing with these bearded dwarves.

Guts held the sword and looked around nonchalantly.

The Skeleton Knight politely bowed to Thorin and introduced the next few people.

When he learned that the three men had come to help Bilbo and had no ill intentions towards them, he was completely relieved.

The remaining eleven dwarves stared at Smaug's "corpse" and looked around, praising the few people highly.

"This is our spoils, can we take it away?" Li Yunlong suddenly remembered that he had not told this new friend the "rules" of helping out in the tavern, so he asked.

"Of course," said Bilbo hurriedly, "and its treasure..."

As soon as he said this, Thorin said with a gloomy face: "Where did this dragon get the treasure? It's the collection of the dwarves!"

Bilbo opened his mouth, but suddenly didn't know what to say.

Why is there a legend of a hero fighting a dragon in Middle-earth? Isn’t it for the dragon’s treasure?

Whoever kills gets it, that's the rule. But this is the ancestral land of the dwarves after all...

Guts sensed that something was wrong with the atmosphere, and cautiously picked up the broken Dragon Slaying Sword in his hand.

The Skeleton Knight fell silent, with red light flashing in his pupils.

Li Yunlong looked around and had no idea what was going on.

Bilbo had told them the general situation when he asked them for help earlier.

The Lonely Mountain originally belonged to the dwarves, but was occupied by the evil dragon Smaug for hundreds of years.

The dwarves invited the hobbits to come for the Arkenstone so that they could unite other dwarf tribes to take back the place.

Lonely Mountain means something special to them, far more than gold or silver can compare to it.

Now they have helped the dwarves to kill the enemies who have usurped their territory, but the dwarf king doesn't seem to appreciate it!

There is no reason to give up the fat meat that is right at your fingertips!

Li Yunlong will not indulge the other party.

He chuckled, pointed at Smaug, and said, "It's not dead!"

As he spoke, Smaug's eyes suddenly trembled.

It had been pretending to be dead, waiting for an opportunity to escape. Could it have been seen through by this person? It hesitated for a moment, not knowing whether to continue pretending.

Several dwarves who were touching the dragon's head were so frightened that they retreated and almost fell off the cliff.

Thorin was even more shocked.

Then he thought of how polite the Skeleton Knight was when talking to him, and touched the Arken Gem in his arms, and greed took over his heart.

He stared at Li Yunlong and said in a deep voice, "Do you want to threaten me?"

His sister Diss tugged at his arm, signaling him to give in.

She felt that her brother was being very unkind.

However, holding the Arkenstone, Thorin's mentality has changed at this moment.

The greed deep in his heart was aroused.

"What I'm saying is, this dragon is mine, and its things are mine too!" Li Yunlong pointed at the dwarf leader's nose and cursed.

A huge force pushed Thorin's body high up into the air, hovering above the cliff. "You still want to steal my things?"

A cold wind blew, and Thorin's body trembled involuntarily. When he saw the dark and bottomless cliff below him, the greed in his heart disappeared.

The rest of the dwarves took up their weapons.

Bilbo quickly stepped between the crowd and said, "Let's talk it over."

Li Yunlong stared at Thorin: "What now?"

"Yours, all yours!" Thorin said in panic.

Only then did Li Yunlong pull him back.

Seeing the Dwarf King breathing heavily, he cursed in his heart, "You rich landlord."

Seeing Bilbo looking a little bewildered, he smiled and patted his new friend's head, saying, "There's a share for you, too."

"I don't need it." Bilbo smiled bitterly.

"Once you know the function of gold, you won't refuse." The Skeleton Knight said suddenly.

He was not a greedy person, but he needed strength to protect what he cherished.

Everyone walked towards the lonely mountain.

The dwarves followed behind him, dejected.

When a mountain of gold appeared before their eyes, everyone's face changed.
