Chapter 47 seducing him is her way of tempting her.
Jiu Su silently watched her for a while.
"I don't mind. The important thing is whether you mind being on camera?" Shu Qing was baffled and didn't understand what he was trying to say. She smiled and patted his face. "Let me tell you, times have changed. It's not the era of keeping a mistress hidden away anymore. My monster is so beautiful, everyone should see it and make me proud."
She enthusiastically planned, "Wearing modern clothes for this shoot definitely wouldn't be appropriate. Remember that white Hanfu I bought last time? It would look amazing with your tail. Alas, it's autumn now, so there aren't any snowy outdoor scenes. But you have your own special effects. Let me design something, and autumn will do too, it might not be any worse than a snowy scene!"
Jiu Su continued to stare at her without saying a word, while Shu Qing asked with bright, sparkling eyes, "You won't refuse, will you?"
"..."
Jiu Su took a deep breath.
A sudden, inexplicable anger welled up within him; her avoidance, suspicion, and probing over the past few days flashed before his eyes. Yet, meeting Shu Qing's expectant eyes, he couldn't utter a single word; all of it pierced his heart.
A chilling thought flashed through his mind: "She just sees me as a pastime."
Whether it was that pet snake back then or Jiu Su now, they're all the same. Otherwise, why wouldn't she care at all and have no possessiveness?
He knew he might have been too impulsive in making that request; it was simply because she didn't understand the customs of the demon race, yet he couldn't control his emotions. Shu Qing's earlier words, "Do you want to try?" flashed through his mind inappropriately, and he suddenly realized: what she meant by "try" was completely different from what he was thinking.
Her "give it a try" really just meant trying to get along, and if it didn't work out, so be it. He misinterpreted it, thinking it meant trying to overcome all the concerns and take a gamble to start over.
but……
Jiu Suxin said: So what?
Monsters are not rational creatures to begin with. Shu Tong's worries were actually correct. He had no idea what it meant to know when to stop. Once it started, it was probably impossible to treat him as a pet snake and to back out at any time.
Shu Qing stared at him expectantly, and Jiu Su met her gaze with a gentle smile.
He quickly weighed his options in his mind: agreeing to everything was definitely out of the question. He was used to being strong, and making him show his weakness in front of hundreds of thousands of people was something he couldn't avoid, even if he was killed. Besides, he had only ever shown his half-demon form to her.
Explaining it to her properly is not the right timing. The habits of monsters are, after all, a minority understanding, and the fact that he can only show his half-snake form to his partner is purely his own personal habit and won't solve her current problem.
She never really liked him that much. If he couldn't even be "useful," wouldn't she be even more likely to abandon him? That won't do.
“Half-snake body is indeed inconvenient,” Jiu Su said with a smile. “But didn’t you say you wanted to film a ‘monster that can transform into a human’? I’ll film the whole process of you transforming from a snake into a human, wouldn’t that be more direct? What do you think?”
If that doesn't work, he'll have to sacrifice his own friends to save himself and grab two colleagues from the Supermarket Management Bureau to be his models.
Shu Qing thought about it and decided it was acceptable, though the initial visual impact might not be that strong. She bargained, asking, "Can I wear that white Hanfu?"
Jiu Su nodded with a smile.
Shu Qing felt a little cold at his laughter, but for the sake of her mission, she pressed her advantage and asked, "Then can you show just a tiny bit of the tail tip, just a little bit, a small section?"
She even gestured the length of a little finger joint, and Jiu Su smiled at her without saying a word.
Shu Qing felt even colder, and she reluctantly lowered her hand, "If it doesn't work, it doesn't work..."
“You can take pictures,” Jiu Su said temptingly as she moved closer to her, “we’ll see for ourselves.”
...The tone of his voice seemed a bit off, as if he was trying to seduce her.
Shu Qing quickly waved her hand, indicating that it wasn't necessary. She muttered softly, "What's the use of just looking at it myself? My task is to collect data..."
“It has many uses.” Jiu Su chuckled lightly in her ear. “Want to try it?”
Very well, Shu Qing is now certain that he was seducing her.
She quickly waved away the snake that had inexplicably gone into overdrive, covered her ears, and stood there calmly for a while. Once her ears had cooled down, she took out her tablet and started drawing storyboards.
Once she had an idea, the flower that supposedly "clears the mind and calms the spirit" immediately came into play. Shu Qing's brush flew across the paper, and she continued drawing until it was time to leave work. Jiu Su came to ask her to go home together, and she reluctantly stopped drawing.
"Didn't you have lunch?" Jiu Su knew as soon as she saw her like this. She tore open a piece of chocolate and fed it to her, her fingers deliberately pushing forward, whether intentionally or unintentionally.
Shu Qing, caught off guard, bit down on his fingertip, startled. "Let me see..."
Jiu Su made a mock hissing sound and casually stroked her lips. Because she was at the Supermarket Management Bureau today, she was still wearing light makeup, and a light layer of lipstick smeared on her fingertips, which made the already inconspicuous teeth marks stand out.
With a slight smile, he handed her his finger, saying, "Let me show you."
Shu Qing: "..."
Why is this snake being unusually cunning today?
Who knew that not only today, but the next day, Jiu Su's scheming became even more extreme. He asked the Super Management Bureau for a day off and went to the studio with Shu Qing to shoot a pilot episode.
After filming the first half, Shu Qing leaned back on the sofa for a nap. Jiu Su sat beside her and let her lean on him. Taking advantage of the fact that no one else was in the studio, he actually conjured a snake tail, and the tip of the tail deliberately brushed against Shu Qing's calves, acting very restless.
He wore the clothes Shu Qing had wanted him to wear, and even showed his tail. Under the sunlight, the scales appeared even more crystalline and luminous, creating a truly stunning visual effect, like a paper doll brought to life.
Shu Qing was feeling sleepy while admiring the scene. She was both disappointed that she couldn't take pictures and annoyed by the restless tail. She glared at him and said, "Stop messing around. If you keep this up, I'm going to turn on the camera. Didn't you say I wasn't allowed to take pictures of half of the snake's body?"
“What I said is, you can take pictures, but you can only see them yourself.” The tail kept going up and slowly wrapped around her wrist. Jiu Su leaned against the sofa and smiled at her, “I didn’t say you couldn’t.”
Shu Qing followed her inner desires and rubbed the snake tail wrapped around her wrist twice—it was practically offered to her, so it would be impolite not to touch it. Besides, it was broad daylight, not a sensitive period, so she wasn't worried about stimulating him.
It felt really good, quite different from when he made the little snake. It was cool and smooth, and felt moist to the touch. She couldn't help but caress it for a while longer.
A silent smile appeared in Jiu Su's eyes.
I knew she had no resistance to his tail.
Shu Qing fell asleep hugging a tail. In her hazy dream, through a veil, she seemed to see glimpses of her past. It was also autumn, when they were traveling together, and she suddenly felt inspired to draw his half-snake body.
He was then forced to keep his tail submerged in the water, watching her lay out paper on the stone and write calligraphy. After waiting for almost half an hour, he asked helplessly, "Is it done yet?"
"No, just cooperate!" She glared at him. "Be patient, don't move. Drawing doesn't happen that fast."
Jiu Su said coolly, "I saw that you drew that 'Dead Snake Hanging from a Tree' picture last time, it was pretty quick."
She glared at him again, then laughed halfway through, holding up the painting in her hand to show him. The main subject of the painting was already there: a monster boy sitting by the water, his silvery-white snake tail winding through the crystal-clear spring water, so beautiful it seemed unreal.
But she hadn't painted the background yet, and she was troubled: "Autumn wind and yellow leaves, it's too bleak, I don't think the artistic conception is good."
"What's wrong with it?"
"I'm too lonely. I don't want to paint you in a lonely mood."
When Jiu Su first saw the painting, a hint of displeasure appeared between his brows, but presumably he was well aware of his own painting skills and refrained from saying anything.
Now that she had brought it up, he finally protested, "Why only draw me and not you? If you draw both of us, you won't be lonely."
“That makes sense,” she said with a raised eyebrow and a smile. “Now that I’ve painted you, it’s your turn to paint me. Don’t ruin my painting, okay?”
"..."
Looking at Jiu Su's expression, she smiled smugly—wanting to mess with him was easy; she had a million ways to do it.
Jiu Su was extremely helpless, but she had no choice but to take the paper and pen and reluctantly begin to draw. When she was drawing him, she told him not to move, but now that it was her turn to be the model, the standards were all new. She didn't even want to sit properly opposite him, but insisted on sitting next to him, playing with the tip of his tail while pointing and commenting.
One moment she'd be directing him, "Draw me in this spot, it looks good in the composition," and the next she'd be complaining, "You drew me too fat," her mouth never quiet for a moment. Her hands were even more constantly busy, treating his tail like a toy, wrapping and twisting it endlessly.
Finally, Jiu Su could no longer bear it and had to beg for mercy: "Have you had enough fun, little ancestor?"
"No," she replied with a smile, even dipping the tip of the tail in ink and adding a stroke to the painting.
She was exceptionally talented; with a stroke of genius, she added a drooping branch that perfectly covered up the parts he later painted that weren't quite right, leaving only the shadows of young men and women playing in the stream. The painting still depicted autumn, with its frosty leaves and crisp air, but instead of feeling desolate, it was exceptionally poetic and picturesque.
What happened to that painting...?
She vaguely remembered... it seemed he had framed it and hung it in their secluded cottage, sealing it with a special magic. No matter how time passed, the paper would not age, the ink would not decay, and it would be impervious to water and fire.
Later, in the memories of another life, endless war broke out, and even their place of seclusion sank into the sea. No matter how well the painting was preserved, it was probably long gone, carried away by fish and ocean currents.
She tried desperately to clear the fog in her mind and glimpse more of his unspoken past, but no matter how she tried, all she could see was a pure white mist.
When Shu Qing woke up, she found herself lying flat on the sofa. Jiu Su hadn't turned her tail back, so she let her nap with her tail as a pillow, and one hand was covering her eyes as an eye mask.
He was always considerate of her, but today he was even more attentive, to the point that she sensed a hint of unease and fear.
She blinked and tickled his palm with her eyelashes. Jiu Su then let go of his hand, clenched her fist uncomfortably, and suppressed the itch in her palm.
"Enough slacking off, let's get to work." She jumped down lightly, not mentioning a word about her dream during her afternoon nap, and poked Jiu Su's cheek contentedly. "Want to cooperate?"
She pointed to the unfinished storyboard on the big screen, meaning stop dawdling and hurry up and change it!
They can get into work mode in a second, without even a transition period.
Jiu Su had no choice but to comply with her request, fully transforming into a snake and swimming onto Shu Qing's body, flicking her tongue at her.
Shu Qing poked him with her finger, thinking to herself: Even when doing serious business, he can't help but tease me?
