After watching the plot, a figure came back stealthily from outside the door. Fang Zhiyi just came out of the inner room and saw a boy in a neat robe from a distance.
He looked down at the clothes he was wearing, which were just a waistcoat that was matted from washing.
"Why did you pick this thing up?" Fang Zhiyi sighed.
The man who was in charge of the money was named Chen Huaimin, and he had only one leg. He was a clerk in a money shop before he fled here. He was diligent and hardworking, and he never dreamed that one day he would be involved with bandits. He just chatted a few words with his childhood friend who came from afar in his hometown dialect. Suddenly, five taels of silver were missing from the account. The shopkeeper insisted that he had colluded with his childhood friend to steal the five taels of silver, so he was tied up and sent to the lobby. When he came out of the prison, his leg had been broken.
When he returned to his shabby house, he found out that his wife had been with the second manager of the money shop.
When Fang Zhiyi picked him up, Chen Huaimin had a high fever and his leg wound was infected. The quack doctor said that Chen Huaimin's life was probably not going to be saved.
Fang Zhiyi was not well educated. Of course, even if he was educated, there was no such thing as surgery in those days. So he chose the simplest way and amputated Chen Huaimin. He used the axe he used to chop wood to chop off Chen Huaimin's bad leg.
Chen Huaimin was not destined to die. He survived, even though he lost a leg. However, he was always grateful for the other party's understanding. He knew the difference between a leg and his life.
Chen Huaimin was the only one among these people who had some knowledge, so Fang Zhiyi handed the accounting task over to him.
"Brother, the money is lost." Chen Huaimin was leaning on a crutch and speaking with a slight breath.
Fang Zhiyi glanced at his empty trouser legs and asked, "How much is missing?"
Chen Huaimin replied, "Two taels of silver are missing."
Fang Zhiyi nodded: "Yeah."
"I'll check it out right away." Chen Huaimin looked at Fang Zhiyi's expressionless face and felt a little ashamed. His elder brother entrusted such an important matter to him, but he couldn't even keep an eye on the money.
"Wait!" Fang Zhiyi called out to him, his eyes still fixed on his broken leg.
Chen Huaimin was a little nervous: "What are your instructions, brother?"
Fang Zhiyi reached out and touched his nose: "Hey, do you want to learn?"
Chen Huaimin was stunned for a moment. He knew that Fang Zhiyi and his gang were all involved in the business of swords and shadows. If possible, he would also like to contribute, but now... He grabbed Kongdang's trouser leg with one hand.
"Don't worry about your broken leg. I have my own way. It's a bit hard, though. How's it going?"
Chen Huaimin looked at Fang Zhiyi's eyes and felt that he didn't seem to be lying to him, so he nodded vigorously.
"You have to wait for me to get ready."
Fang Zhiyi narrowed his eyes and said, "Call Liu Acai over to me."
Chen Huaimin immediately jumped out. Xiao Hei couldn't stand it any longer: "You're going too far. He already has one leg missing, and you're still ordering him around."
Fang Zhiyi glanced at it and said, "You don't understand. Should I pity him just because he's disabled? Remember, Xiao Hei, someone like Chen Huaimin wouldn't want to be treated differently. Doing so would constantly remind him that he's disabled. This is the respect I can give him."
Xiao Hei seemed to be lost in thought.
