Chapter 553 Journey to the West 12 (1/2)

I am Dahuang, a wolf demon.

The first time I started to think about my own identity was when I drank a sip of spring water that day. It was said that the spring water had the function of enlightening all things. Later, when I went to drink it again, the spring water had dried up.

I wandered in the mountains without knowing anything, and sometimes I would encounter a kind of human-like creature. I was a little scared because they looked very powerful.

Until I met a being that could talk like me, it seemed to know a lot more than I did. From that day on, it took me back to its cave and let me call it Brother Bear.

But later on, everyone called it the king, so I called it the king too. This is basic respect for it.

It's just that the king himself doesn't have this awareness. He never seems to care what others think of him. Every day he either wanders around or looks for wild fruits to eat.

Listen to me, is this a vegetarian bear?

But it really is a vegetarian.

Sometimes I would hunt some small animals to eat. Although the king did not stop us, he would not come over to look. I knew that the king was determined to cultivate to the right path.

What is the right path?

I don't know, I only know that roasted rabbit tastes better than raw, and maybe that's the meaning of enlightenment.

My mission is to patrol the mountains, mainly to prevent those guys in the cave from encountering humans. Humans seem to be very afraid of us and hate us. The king said that since they don’t like us, we should just keep our distance from them.

But that day I heard something that made me very angry.

Those two people are slandering our king for eating the virgin girls they offered as tribute! Bullshit! I've heard them whispering before. It's obvious that they had daughters of their own and didn't want them, so they used the excuse of abandoning them. I don't know how they ended up being sacrifices.

I couldn't help it, so I immediately went back to the mountain to tell the king. Actually, there was no point in doing this. I knew the king wouldn't make things difficult for them. It just felt a bit weird, as if I had complained to him several times.

The king looks very tired. I don’t know what he has been doing.

As expected, it didn't make a fuss with the villagers. Instead, it gave me a name, Dahuang. To be honest, I think it sounds pretty good.

After that, the king gave names to all the monsters. Although the king is more powerful than us, his literary level is not very high. I figured out the pattern of his naming and just wanted to keep it simple.

But everyone was very happy, after all we all had names.

The king ordered us to move out together, saying that he wanted to do something big. I didn't know what it was, until we surrounded a village.

I listened to the terrified screams from inside and was a little confused for a moment.

Queen Bo ordered us to kill people.

We all hesitated and didn't take action.

The king took the initiative, and those humans started to fight back with swords in their hands, so I had to take action too.

Killing people feels similar to hunting, but it always makes you feel a little uncomfortable.

That day, the king told us some stories about humans. It seemed to understand humans very well. It said that the people we killed were bad people, bandits. It also told us some stories about bandits. I suspected that it made them up because the human bandits it described were very bad.

Monsters are not that cruel.

Although monsters don't kill or eat people, they rarely torture people. Are those bandits even worse than monsters? This is impossible.

As bandit camps were cleared one after another, we gradually got used to it.
