Shen Yue laughed and said, "Not only that, I heard that the Lin family has been targeted because of this. It's possible that Old Man Lin will have to retire early."
"Wow, should I get infected by the weird stuff too?" Li Fei circled around Fang Zhiyi with envy, while Fang Zhiyi felt that he was just like a fly.
Only Li Fei and a few others knew the real mastermind behind this. Although they didn't quite understand, they were very happy that Fang Zhiyi had taken over as captain again.
Fang Zhiyi was somewhat puzzled. If the purpose of this world was to deal with a naive and saintly young lady and an arrogant, love-obsessed male protagonist, would she have to chase them all the way to headquarters and kill them?
The reconnaissance team sent another message: something strange had happened in a mountain village to the west. The number of casualties and the number of strange creatures were unknown. The reconnaissance team members went in and never came out again.
Fang Zhiyi led the team off again, and along the way he tried to mobilize the strange energy within his body. When they arrived at the village located in the mountain valley, Fang Zhiyi frowned.
"This is a bizarre type I've never seen before," Shen Yue said, somewhat nervously.
Thick fog shrouded the village, like miasma, making the entire village appear and disappear in the mist.
Fang Zhiyi only thought for a moment: "You guys wait here for me, I'll go scout ahead." He really wanted to know what level his strength should be in this world.
"team leader?"
"Boss?"
Before they could react, Fang Zhiyi ran down the hillside and quickly reached the village entrance. In the blink of an eye, he disappeared from everyone's sight.
"Boss, what's going on..." Li Fei clicked his tongue, "He seems even stronger? Could it be because he was buried alive?"
"You're talking nonsense." Zhao Lei remained as succinct as ever.
Only Shen Yue, standing to the side, had a solemn expression. Her eyes were looking down, and she was clutching the copper coin that had been stuck to Fang Zhiyi's forehead last time. The coin was now covered with mottled patina.
"Captain..." She looked at the village shrouded in mist, her heart filled with unease. Are you still the captain?
A ragged figure stood beside the well, leaning on a cane and carrying a bamboo basket on its back. Something inside the basket seemed to be struggling desperately to get out.
"Sweetie, wait a little longer, just a little longer."
It coughed twice, its voice aged, and its whole body exuded a cold aura.
A gust of cold wind blew by, and it slowly took a step forward, raised its head, revealing a wrinkled, aged face.
As it took that step, the cries of a baby came from the bamboo basket behind it. The sound was strange, somewhat like the howling of a kitten, but it was also quite eerie.
The bells on the cane jingled incessantly as it shook, their clear sounds making one feel as if their very soul was being shaken.
It had only taken a few steps when it suddenly stopped and turned around abruptly.
"Strange," the aged voice rang out. "Could I be mistaken?"
It shook its head and continued to walk forward with its hunched back, the bells ringing and the baby crying, but soon it turned back again, and behind it was still the well.
