Several undercover agents were finally moved. The leader pondered for a moment and said, "Then, thank you, Your Majesty, but we cannot accept these silver notes."
Fang Zhiyi said seriously, "What? Don't you have wives and children to take care of? Or do your parents not need to eat or drink? This money is for you! It's for your family! I'm not trying to bribe you." He bluntly stated, "What would I do with you if I bribed you? Get you to join me in a rebellion? Are you crazy?"
His honesty made the others laugh, and the atmosphere became much more relaxed.
General A squatted down and slapped the silver note into the informant's arms: "Kid, even though you don't listen to us, your family still needs money. I remember you have a son and a daughter. What if you lose your head on the battlefield one day? Will they live off the few taels of silver you get for your life?"
Fang Zhiyi glanced at General A with some surprise. This man wasn't as stupid as he seemed. His words, though seemingly concerned, were actually a threat. He actually knew about the family situation of the general's direct descendants.
The undercover agent hesitated for a moment, then stuffed the silver note into his pocket and stood up: "Thank you, Your Majesty!" Seeing that their leader had accepted it, the others also stood up to express their gratitude.
Fang Zhiyi waved her hand and turned to leave, but a sharp pain shot through her back; the original owner's body was simply too weak.
“You say, ‘Oh dear, it’s my fault, it’s my fault, why are you doing this to yourself?’” General Wu said from the side.
Just as Fang Zhiyi was about to speak, she heard a voice coming from not far away.
"a shame!"
He looked up and saw a boy being covered by his father's hand.
Both lieutenants clearly heard the curse, and General A frowned: "Who said that? Who?"
The surrounding people remained silent, but their eyes were filled with disdain as they looked at Fang Zhiyi. They never imagined that the emperor would use his body to shield a bench for a soldier from an enemy country.
Fang Zhiyi laughed and said, "Forget it! It seems I'll have to go live in your Da Mang area from now on. Don't pretend you don't know me then!"
"Look at what you're saying," General Wu laughed, as the others escorted Fang Zhiyi away.
“They don’t understand, that’s how ordinary people are.” Fang Zhiyi’s voice drifted from afar.
The gazes of the people behind her had changed from disdain to contempt, and even an old man selling candied hawthorns spat at Fang Zhiyi's back.
This scene was witnessed by several undercover agents, who exchanged glances and nodded.
"Oh? Fang Zhiyi went drinking again?" Teng Shuchang asked without looking up while handling official business.
The informant replied, "Yes, some people cursed him, and he said that the people were ignorant."
"Hahaha, this absurd emperor, is there anything else?"
"That's all, everything else is the same as before."
Teng Shuchang waved for him to leave, his mind filled with the king's imperial edict, which said that in consideration of his hard work, a special assistant had been assigned to help him handle state affairs.
"The king is afraid that I will become too powerful." Teng Shuchang smiled bitterly, but thinking about it, it was probably for the best. Ever since he let Fang Zhiyi leave the palace, he had been exhausted.
