Fang Zhiyi lowered his head and didn't speak. The phone rang again. He thought it was Wang Hao calling again, but when he looked down, he saw that it was Zhong Jiafa calling.
"Well done! You've finally figured it out, kid?" Zhong Jiafa's voice startled Fang Zhiyi.
"Hahaha, that idiot called me asking to borrow money. Do you think I'd lend him any? He's a gambling addict. That's more like it. Where are you? I'd like to grab a drink with you."
The person on the other end of the phone didn't give him a chance to refuse, so Fang Zhiyi had no choice but to agree. To his surprise, his grandfather didn't stop him.
Fang Zhi saw Zhong Jiafa, and Zhong Jiafa, unusually, didn't scold him. Instead, he opened a bottle of wine for him, and the two chatted while drinking.
"You really have something wrong with your head. I've wanted to say this before, but the more I look at you, the angrier I get. I thought you had no temper! That idiot called you in the middle of the night asking you to buy cigarettes and deliver them, and you actually went!" Zhong Jiafa got a little agitated when talking about this topic.
"They're all friends..."
"Pah! You treat them like friends, but they treat you like a fool!"
Fang Zhiyi was unhappy. Although he was honest, he couldn't stand hearing his childhood friend call him an idiot.
"Only your childhood friend is actually thinking about you." Grandpa's voice suddenly appeared in her mind, and Fang Zhiyi stopped herself from refuting. "Think about it carefully. In this world, it's not that if you're nice to others, they'll be nice to you. You have to be nice to the right people, otherwise you're really a fool."
He thought back carefully and realized that it was only when he was with Zhong Jiafa that he could say whatever he wanted without fear of offending him. Under the influence of alcohol, Fang Zhiyi recalled everything that had happened since his grandfather appeared. He realized that he was a really honest but wronged person.
Seeing that he didn't speak, Zhong Jiafa cursed, then raised his glass: "Congratulations on finally getting it!"
Fang Zhiyi raised her glass, about to say a few words of thanks, when Zhong Jiafa suddenly put down his glass: "Wait, let's take care of something first."
Fang Zhiyi turned around and saw several people on motorcycles stop and walk towards them, with Wang Hao standing at the very front.
"Fang Zhiyi! I treated you like a friend, and you actually played me?" He was furious.
"Wang Hao, I..." Fang Zhiyi started to say something, but Zhong Jiafa interrupted him: "Friend? Friend my ass! Do you really think he's an idiot?"
"There's no need to be so blunt," Xiao Hei commented.
"Zhong Jiafa, this is none of your business. I'm going to find him!" Wang Hao pointed at Fang Zhiyi. He couldn't accept that he had been tricked by a sucker and had lost all face.
Zhong Jiafa laughed: "I'm telling you he's here, do you want to guess why?"
Wang Hao asked, puzzled, "What are you trying to say?"
Zhong Jiafa stood up, grabbed the small stool from under his bottom, and almost simultaneously, the guests sitting at several tables around him also stood up, looking at Wang Hao and his group with unfriendly expressions.
Fang Zhiyi was stunned; he hadn't really noticed any connection between these people and himself.
"Zhong Jiafa, don't think you're something special just because you've been around for a few years!" Wang Hao's face turned pale.
"You gambling addict! I tolerated you before because Zhiyi thought you were his friend, but I've never thought you were my friend! I've wanted to beat you up for a long time!" Zhong Jiafa rushed out, and the people at those tables followed suit.
On the street, a chase ensued, and Fang Zhiyi stood frozen in place, holding a wine glass.
"Sir, what's going on?"
"People want to help you, but you have to be worthy of their help. If you can't even figure that out yourself, who can you expect to help you? Not everyone who says nice things to you is a friend. Sometimes, the ones who are willing to scold you are the ones who are truly friends."
Fang Zhiyi paused for a moment, then slowly brought the wine to herself and said solemnly, "Grandpa, I toast you."
