The Golden Palace was now filled with corpses, their blood congealed, leaving a sticky, uncomfortable feeling underfoot. The soldiers standing on either side were now soldiers, each with a fierce expression as they watched Fang Zhiyi enter.
Huang Chao sat on the dragon throne, watching Fang Zhiyi walk closer step by step. He suddenly burst out laughing: "Hahahaha, Brother Fang! It has to be you! I just bet them whether you would be scared! They said that you are a mere scholar, so of course you would be scared! Hahahaha! Bring it all here! Each of you loses ten taels to me!"
The soldiers murmured among themselves as they stepped forward and placed the blood-stained silver coins on the dragon table.
Huang Chao was clearly pleased. He waved the soldiers away and squinted at Fang Zhiyi, asking, "Fang Zhiyi, do you think I won?"
He presented a human head, the emperor's head: "I won, you were right! People judge heroes by success or failure, but I sit here today, I am the hero!!"
Watching his maniacal laughter, Fang Zhiyi remained indifferent, though she frowned slightly; the air was thick with the stench of blood.
Just then, two soldiers shoved a child into the main hall. Huang Chao stopped laughing, his bloodshot eyes fixed on the child: "He is the emperor's last remaining relative. As long as I kill them all, I will be the emperor, right? Who will oppose me then?"
He picked up the knife and walked down the steps one by one, gradually approaching the child, who trembled with fear.
"That's not right." Fang Zhiyi suddenly spoke up as he passed by.
Huang Chao turned around, a look of surprise in his eyes: "What did you say?"
“No,” Fang Zhiyi sighed. “It was wrong from the very beginning.”
Huang Chao frowned, then relaxed: "Yes, I guessed you would say something like that, after all, your mind is full of outdated ideas about benevolence and righteousness, and I have to kill you too." The knife in his hand was pointed directly at Fang Zhiyi's face.
“I didn’t understand before, but now I do. After sitting in that chair, I realized that someone like you cannot be kept, absolutely cannot be kept.”
Fang Zhiyi suddenly laughed: "Um, did I tell you?"
"What."
"I'm an expert too."
As he spoke, Fang Zhiyi's finger touched the blade, causing it to tremble. As his hand moved down the blade, Huang Chao felt a sharp pain in the back of his hand holding the knife. He immediately let go, and the knife fell to the ground.
Huang Chao's eyes widened, and he instantly took two steps back, but then he laughed again. He tore open his robe, revealing the gleaming iron armor underneath: "Hahahaha, so what? Remember this? The full armor you had them forge, specifically to deal with martial arts practitioners! Brother Fang, you've finally gotten yourself into trouble!"
