"What are you doing? Staying up so late at night, trying to look deep in thought?"
Ruan Wenkang was sitting on the steps, gazing at the night sky in a daze, when he was startled by the sound behind him. He immediately stood up and saw Fang Zhiyi's face.
"Hello, Principal." After a semester, Ruan Wenkang had deviated from his original suicidal trajectory and was now learning what he liked from a teacher. His personality had also become much more cheerful.
"Don't call me Principal after get off work, call me Brother Fang." Fang Zhiyi plopped down.
Ruan Wenkang was somewhat taken aback: "That... isn't appropriate."
"What's inappropriate about it?"
"If I call you Brother Fang, then you're on the same level as Brother Chenghan."
Fang Zhiyi was taken aback; he really hadn't thought of that.
He immediately changed the subject: "I heard from your teacher that when you went to work a part-time job and were about to come back to school, your boss was quite reluctant to let you go?"
Ruan Wenkang chuckled and said, "It's all because of the teacher, not me."
"Haven't you thought about going home to visit?"
When asked about his family, Ruan Wenkang seemed lost in thought: "No, my parents had another baby boy, and they probably don't want to see me either."
“I’ve seen your file. When your dad brought you here, he said you were quite extreme and often smashed things at home.” Fang Zhiyi looked at the sky. “No matter what, smashing things at home is wrong.”
Ruan Wenkang nodded: "It was wrong of me to smash things, mainly because my dad wanted to throw away all of my mom's things."
"Your mother?"
“My mother died, and my father found me a stepmother. She is nice to me on the surface, but she calls me a jinx and a taciturn person in private.”
"Oh...you didn't tell your dad?"
“Principal, you don’t understand my dad. He believes my stepmother, but he won’t believe me. If I talk to him, the worst I’ll get is a beating.” Ruan Wenkang said calmly, “Before you came, I thought I would die here, but I thought maybe it would be better if I died. At least my dad wouldn’t have to worry about how to get rid of me.”
Fang Zhiyi sighed: "And now?"
"Now? Now I want to learn more. Our teacher said that people should have goals and dreams in life."
Fang Zhiyi looked at the student, who seemed to have grown quite a bit taller than before: "Yes... so live well and grow up." He stood up, "Children can have dreams, but adults can realize their dreams." Fang Zhiyi winked at him.
"Go to bed early, school starts tomorrow."
Watching Fang Zhiyi walk away, Ruan Wenkang suddenly stood up: "Principal, you still haven't asked me what my dream is!"
Fang Zhiyi didn't turn around, but simply raised her hand and waved: "Dreams don't come true if you just talk about them!"
"Was that a wish he was talking about?" Ruan Wenkang was startled by the voice behind him. He turned around and saw two more classmates. He couldn't help but smile wryly, "So many night owls?"
"You're allowed to stay up all night, but we're not allowed to come out for a stroll?" Another voice came from the left.
"Well, if this were before, we would have to stand on the playground together until dawn."
One month later.
"A school for a happy life? What kind of school is that?" A passerby looked at the list of winners, somewhat bewildered.
"I heard it's a special school; all the troublesome students are sent there by their parents," someone said.
