But when he arrived at the location of the informant, he was completely stunned.
Where are they?
"Master, he, he, they, they fell down." The informant pointed to the cliff in front of them.
"Fell down?" He looked at the informant with some suspicion.
The informant's heart tightened. He dared not say that he had lost them until he heard someone scream. When he rushed over, he only saw a carriage falling off a cliff.
"Yes, I saw it with my own eyes! They fell!"
Faced with the furious Mr. Fang, the informant chose the best response.
"Go down and search!"
"yes!"
After a day and a night, they finally found a wrecked carriage at the bottom of the cliff. It seemed that the horses had broken free from their restraints and the carriage had fallen uncontrollably. There were also two unrecognizable corpses and... the ring that the emperor had bestowed upon them.
It was a ring made of mystic crystal, exceptionally sturdy.
Fang Kui stared blankly for a while, then turned and left. Unexpectedly, even Heaven couldn't bear to watch, and that unfilial son killed himself.
This saved a lot of trouble, and Fang Kui's expression immediately relaxed.
But when he returned to the capital, he found that many people were staring at him, and some even looked at him with disgust.
This left Fang Kui somewhat bewildered. When he stepped into the house to tell his youngest son and wife about it, his mother rushed out in terror: "Master! You, you killed Zhiyi?"
"Huh?" Fang Kui was taken aback.
"The whole capital is buzzing with news: Go after Zhiyi..."
At this moment, several imperial guards appeared behind him.
"Fang Kui, the Emperor wishes to see you."
Fang Kui followed behind in a daze, with his mother behind him looking utterly desperate; she clearly had more to say.
Looking at the emperor sitting before him, Fang Kui felt his legs go weak for no reason. When he stepped in, the room was already full of people. The powerful families of the capital all glared at him with fierce eyes when they saw him enter.
This left Fang Kui completely bewildered. Could it be because Fang Zhiyi had died? But wait, he hadn't even been saddened by the death of his son, so why were they all making such a fuss?
"Your Majesty, your subject has arrived."
The emperor slowly raised his head: "Fang Kui." He didn't call him Old Fang, and this form of address made Fang Kui's heart tighten.
The heads of the surrounding noble families began to make a fuss, but the emperor simply glanced around and they all quieted down.
"Only when I ask you do you realize what my intention is?"
Fang Kui was startled, then told the truth: "My unfilial son, my unfilial son... the carriage went out of control and plunged down the mountain road. He had no fighting spirit, so he died." His face was full of grief, and he had to pretend to be grief-stricken.
"What a fine 'carriage out of control' excuse!" the emperor sneered. "Then how did you know it was a carriage out of control?"
"I, I..." Fang Kui was somewhat speechless.
"He fell off a cliff ahead, and you found out as soon as you followed him. What a coincidence!"
"I..."
Suddenly someone spoke up: "Fang Kui, it's all over the capital that you resent your son for reporting your outrageous remarks to the king, and you've decided to kill him! You left the city to kill your own son, haven't you!"
Fang Kui was terrified: "How is this possible!"
