When Yang Sisi confidently promised a big surprise, that surprise turned into horror in my mind. I was almost certain that she would actually bring such a shady woman to me. All I wanted to do now was sleep alone, because the psychological trauma I had suffered over the past two days had left me feeling extremely exhausted.
I texted Yang Sisi again: "Stop messing around, okay?... I have to get up early tomorrow to rush back to Dali, I really can't take it anymore."
Yang Sisi is not replying to messages.
I couldn't resist and dialed her number again, but it just showed an unanswered message. I realized then that she was up to no good this time, and I had underestimated her interest in pranks. I shouldn't have given her my room number.
After throwing the empty seafood porridge box into the trash can, I stood by the window and opened the curtains. The streets looked deserted in the dead of night, giving me no indication that anyone was coming.
After standing there for a while, I felt that she had probably just ordered me takeout as a pretext, and that no girl would actually come. Her purpose was simply to make me feel uneasy.
After figuring it out, I hung a "Do Not Disturb" sign outside the door, then crawled back into bed, wanting to end this somewhat turbulent night as soon as possible.
...
Just as I was drifting off to sleep, there was another knock on the door. I instinctively covered my ears with my pillow, then jumped up in surprise, remembering the huge surprise Yang Sisi had mentioned!
Who is it?
The person outside didn't answer, but seemed to kick the door again.
I turned on the light and asked twice more, but there was still no response. However, the knocking grew louder and louder...
I peeked through the peephole and saw that the person was clearly hiding. I only saw a pair of feet wearing white shoes sticking out, and then kicking the door twice. If this was a prostitute, it was incredibly unprofessional, and I took it as a provocation.
As I opened the door, that foot came flying at me. I instinctively grabbed it, and then I saw Yang Sisi's terrified face. She asked me, "What happened to you, you look like this?"
I was even more surprised than her and asked, "It's you?"
"Could you please let me go before we talk?"
I looked down and saw that I had Yang Sisi's leg wrapped around her waist. The distance between us, who weren't in a romantic relationship, was clearly very immoral...
I quickly let go of her and then looked her over. She seemed a bit more mature than before because she wasn't wearing her hair in a bun; instead, she had straightened it. But her personality was still the same as before; she still loved to create surprises and be romantic.
...
Yang Sisi went into the room and sat on the bed, while I stood next to the wardrobe, maintaining a fairly normal distance from her...
I lit a cigarette, trying to calm myself down quickly. To be honest, I don't have the mental fortitude to handle being alone with someone in a room, especially under the dim light, where everything is indistinct and it stirred up many unpleasant fantasies in my mind…
She finally spoke and asked me, "What happened to your face?"
"Would you believe me if I said I got beaten up?"
"I don't believe you. Didn't you say that you've never lost a battle since the day you were born?"
"So it was from an accidental fall..."
"You're really having a tough time... Not only are you seething with anger inside, but your face is swollen like a pig's head!"
I glanced at myself in the mirror, then changed the subject, saying, "Never mind if I'm an idiot... how did you end up in Kunming?"
"I am an angel, I can go wherever I want."
I reached up and picked up the box of condoms from the TV cabinet, then threw it in front of her and said, "Come on, explain, explain what's going on?"
It turns out Yang Sisi can be shy too. After glancing at me, she replied, "Why are you asking me what's going on with the things in your room!"
With a cold face, I asked, "Do you even know how to use it? Are you trying to pull this on me?"
"It's none of my business whether I can use it or not, I won't need it anyway."
"Who's the coward between us?"
She said somewhat timidly, "If I said you're a coward... what would you do to me?"
I glanced at the condom again... thinking I'd scare her, but instead, she laughed and said, "Looking at you now, I feel like I'm talking to a pig... I really want to laugh, so don't do anything to me, or I'll burst out laughing!"
"Can I strangle you? Right now?"
"I don't want to die at the hands of a pig's head, I want to die with some dignity..."
After Yang Sisi finished speaking, she suppressed a laugh, and I also felt a little uncomfortable in this subtle atmosphere. I walked to the window, then pulled back the curtains and silently looked down at the street that stretched endlessly under the streetlights.
"Shooting star... Michael, shooting star... Look!"
I looked up, and a shooting star disappeared from my sight, while another shooting star streaked across the sky and fell down...
Yang Sisi stood beside me, her eyes closed, seemingly making a wish… But I didn't feel any romance. Instead, I thought of many people who had flashed through my life like shooting stars. I asked myself: Are they, in another form, eternally existing in another place?
In a daze, Yang Sisi said to me, "Michael, I didn't lie to you, there really is a meteor shower tonight!"
