Chapter 6 Helping Others



She gave me a grateful look, knowing this wasn't the place to express her gratitude, then got into her car and disappeared from my sight once again as if brushing past me.

Around 10 p.m., we finally arrived in a city in Guizhou Province. Unlike Wuhan, where we had stayed the night before, this city was very quiet.

Considering the cost, I found a budget hotel that wasn't very big. I tried it out and easily booked two rooms with one ID card, without even needing to make up a reason. The management of this level of hotel was quite lax.

Yang Sisi didn't complain about her accommodations, which made me see her in a new light. She's definitely different from those city girls who wear a bourgeois facade and insist on emphasizing their quality of life. But that doesn't mean she can still enjoy life in Dali without a source of income.

Once I got to the room, the first thing I did was change out of my wet clothes and take a hot shower. I thought I was in good health, but the moment I stepped out of the bathroom, I felt dizzy and then my whole body started to feel cold.

I knew I had a slight fever, and in order not to delay my plans for the next day, I ate a bowl of instant noodles, then wrapped myself in a blanket and started drinking water like crazy. But my constitution is really not as good as before; by the next morning, the fever was quite high, and I also felt weak all over.
