Chapter 130 I Want to Give You a Gift

Yang Sisi only stopped when Tie Nan and Tao Zi also ran out of the inn. I was still stunned by her beating, but Yang Sisi wouldn't let me go. She then said to Tao Zi and Tie Nan in a tattletale tone, "Have you ever seen such a scoundrel? He actually called himself my father in front of my friend... Did he get his brain slammed in a door?!"

Tie Nan, true to his brotherly nature, stood next to me and said to Yang Sisi, "You didn't lose out either, didn't you also say you were his mother!"

“I was so angry with him. I don’t have such a good-for-nothing son.”

Peach then stepped in to smooth things over: "Sisi, you can't say that... Michael did and said all this because he was worried about you. He's just a bit mean-spirited, you know that."

Yang Sisi glanced at me and replied, "I don't need him to worry about me."

After saying that, she turned to the young man and said, "Xiao Bei, let's go."

The young man started his motorcycle, then handed Yang Sisi a helmet. Yang Sisi took it from him, got on his motorcycle, and in the blink of an eye, they disappeared from our sight.

I felt quite embarrassed, so I had no choice but to force a smile and say to Taozi and Tienan, "This Yang Sisi is really something!"

"You're no pushover either... How can you even say that? How did you become someone's father?"

"Without the authority of a father figure, I'm afraid I won't be able to control her."

Tie Nan looked at me speechlessly for a long time before replying, "I really think you two are a good match. One of you is a troublemaker, and the other is a lunatic... If you two were to spend your lives together, it would be so interesting! And we outsiders would have a show to watch."

"Be careful, they might charge you admission."

...

After we all went our separate ways, I took a hammock from the guesthouse, found a comfortable spot by Erhai Lake, and tied the hammock between two trees. As I lay down, the sun shone on me, and the gentle warmth made me feel no chill of winter at all.

As I lit a cigarette, I also took out my phone from my pocket and started refreshing my WeChat Moments with a bored attitude.

Yang Sisi posted another message on her WeChat Moments. At that moment, she was having a barbecue with the young man named Xiao Bei at a farm by Erhai Lake. Several other young men who had been drinking with them the day before were also present. Yang Sisi took many selfies with them, looking like she was having a great time.

I commented on this post: "The guesthouse will be closing down in a few days. If you still want to stay in Dali, find a place to stay in advance."

"Who are you kidding? Didn't you say it wouldn't close for another month or so?"

Bai Lu also saw the post and replied to me, "Sisi, Michael wasn't joking with you. I received a notice today that the demolition work will begin in a week."

Yang Sisi replied with two sad emojis.

Bai Lu then asked, "Is that young man in the photo your boyfriend? He's quite handsome!"

After Bai Lu asked that question, I was quite curious to see what Yang Sisi would say. If she really did establish a romantic relationship with this young man named Xiao Bei, then I really didn't need to meddle.

Unfortunately, Yang Sisi chose to ignore it and did not answer Bai Lu's question.

...

The warmth of the sunlight gradually made me sleepy, and I drifted off to sleep. This was probably my last moment of comfort, because after the inn was demolished, I would never again be able to enjoy this leisurely afternoon in such a relaxed mood.

I was woken up by my phone ringing.

I squinted and looked at the phone against the glaring sunlight. It was Dai Qiang calling. After I answered, he asked me, "Brother, what are you doing?"

"I was sleeping, but your phone call woke me up."

Dai Qiang smiled and exclaimed, "You must have had a very comfortable time in Dali!"

"Why don't you come to Dali for a few days?"

"I just started this job, where would I find the time... But, actually, someone did go to Dali!"

With a hint of curiosity, I asked, "Who is it?"

"Our CEO Ye."

I was stunned for a moment before I realized that the "President Ye" he was talking about was actually Ye Zhi. I sat up from the hammock and asked, "How did you know she came to Dali?"

"There's a notice on the group's internal website... saying that she'll be going to Dali in the next few days to attend the launch ceremony of a project."

"You didn't need to call me about this, did you?"

"Even if she's not my sister-in-law, she's still a real friend of yours, right?... Don't you have any plans to pick her up at the airport?"

"She will text me if she needs me to pick her up."

Do you really think she's a woman who's good at expressing her inner thoughts?

"No... Dai Qiang, what are you trying to say after all this rambling?"

"I just wanted to remind you that you have to put your heart into pursuing a woman."

"Who told you I was going to pursue her?"

"Don't you really have any feelings for your sister-in-law at all?" Realizing he had misspoke, he quickly corrected himself, "It's President Ye, President Ye!"

"You should focus on your work and stop worrying about your brother."

I don't know where Dai Qiang got his patience from, but he asked me again, "Brother, do you think your aunt and uncle would be very angry if they found out that you and Mr. Ye were pretending to be a couple and deceiving them?"

That sentence really made me feel a sense of crisis, so I thought about it for a moment before replying, "Getting angry would be too easy on me; they'd skin me alive."
