Chapter 83 Two Deserving Punishments

At first, the old man only glanced at me with interest, but when I quickly solved three problems and entered the competition interface, the old man suddenly looked over:

"You made it through the primary so quickly?"

A nickname filling window appeared on my computer. After thinking for a moment, I wrote down: Noon.

On the big screen, there were many teams representing various universities, but I was the only one with a red flag at noon, and I was in first place.

The old man was now interested in me: "Kid! Which school are you from? Why are you competing without a team?"

The game starts in a little while, so I have time to chat:

"I'm from Kyoto University."

"Kyoto...Kyoto University? With your level, why don't you try out for the school team's reserve team?"

The old man hit me right in the gut: "The school didn't let me participate."

"No?"

This means that there is no invitation to the assessment. Only the top students in each class who are considered to have potential by the school team will be invited.

"Is the admissions threshold at Kyoto University so high now? Even someone like you didn't get an invitation?"

I shook my head. What's the point of telling him? He can't change anything.

"Grandpa, don't ask any more questions. Isn't it nice to just watch the excitement?"

The old man curled his lips and rolled his eyes, not knowing what he was thinking about.

The audience came in twos and threes, and soon the seats around were filled.

Only then did I realize that the several areas surrounding the competition venue were all occupied by teams coming to compete, and there were not many people sitting there.

At this time, a man came up to the old man and asked: "Why don't you go down and take a look?"

The old man patted my shoulder and said, "Little boy! Do you want to go downstairs? No one will bother you there."

"No, I'm not afraid of disturbing you."

What's this? I work at a night market selling wontons. It's much noisier than here, but it doesn't bother me from reading.

Hearing me say this, the old man waved to the man and the man had to leave.

Seeing that the time was almost up, An Ting came and brought someone with him and deliberately passed by me:

"Zheng Yang! How does it feel to sit down there?"

An Ting had a nasty smile on his face, and so did the person next to him.

"This is Mr. Jia, the leader of our school team."

Teacher Jia looked me over and said, "You're not bad looking, but the school team doesn't look at appearances, and they won't accept people who come in through backdoors."

I got in through the back door, and I'm not bragging, but among those who participated in the selection, is there anyone who is better at programming than me?

I glanced at Teacher Jia and said, "Teacher Jia, you're still in the mood to come and see me. I just saw that your team seems to be at the bottom of the list."

Teacher Jia turned to the big screen and saw the Beijing University team was at the end. His face darkened.

"He...they just started late." Teacher Jia said and walked quickly downstairs.

Seeing that I had recovered 10%, An Ting leaned over to my ear and said:

"I'm not afraid to tell you, you can't enter the school team, you can't enter the school-enterprise joint base, and you won't be able to enter the research institutes of major academies in the future."

I raised my hand and pushed An Ting away: "Don't you know you have bad breath? You're so close to me."

An Ting rubbed his chin, which was hurt by my push, and said harshly, "Just wait for me."

An Ting's attention was all on me, and he didn't notice the old man sitting next to me at all.

After An Ting left, the old man came over and said, "That seems to be the leader of your school-enterprise joint base. Is it because of him that you can't join the school team?"

This old man knows a lot of people, right?

"Grandpa! Do you still know An Ting?"

The old man snorted, meaning that I underestimated him.

"In recent years, the Beijing University base has not had anything of note. The previous firewall was even blocked by a single website. It was truly shameful."

The old man doesn’t know yet, but that website is mine.

"So he won't be here for long. I'll just treat whatever he says as bullshit."

"Ha! You're quite arrogant, kid. Let's see if you can beat him."

I shrugged. I wasn't fighting with An Ting for anyone to see.

The school leaders also came and sat on the podium at the competition venue.

Even though An Ting had messed up the base, he still sat there.

As the conference was about to begin, everyone's attention was focused on the competition venue, but the teams from the major universities were all looking up at the big screen.

"I hereby announce that the Kyoto University Computer Science Team reserve team selection will begin now."

I didn't pay attention to the nonsense at the beginning and was staring at the computer.

When the host announced the start of the meeting, I just glanced at the test questions on the screen and quickly pinched them with my left hand.

"Finger..." I didn't notice that there was another woman next to the old man. She looked to be in her thirties, a little unkempt, without makeup, and her hair was tied loosely.

As soon as she said a word, the old man glared at her:

"Can't I see?"

"yes!"

My left hand moved and my right hand was not idle either. Then, my little red flag was the first to move forward.

"Who the hell is that? We haven't even finished calculating here, and he's already written the code?"

The most shocking thing was the woman next to the old man:

"One...one person?"

The old man nodded: "I think your school team needs to be rectified."

The woman blushed and lowered her head. But she quickly asked:

"Um... Leader! Which school is he from? Should we recruit him specially?"

The old man shook his head and pointed his finger downwards.

"From Kyoto University? Why doesn't he…"

Before the woman could finish, the old man shook his head again.

The host took the microphone and shouted, "Congratulations to the Sunrise Three Pole team for taking the lead. I wonder which team it is?"

As soon as the words fell, the audience present were looking for it, but unfortunately, there was no sign of "Sunrise" on the nameplates of the teams in the competition area.
