Chapter 23 First Love Breaks Up

As early as when Simingda started pursuing Luo Yingtao, their relationship was not favored by others. After all, their families of origin were too different. Although Simingda loved Luo Yingtao wholeheartedly, their different upbringings meant that their lifestyles were not on the same track. A forced melon is not sweet, and forced love loses its original flavor.

In the team pursuing Luo Yingtao, there are several defeated boys who have always been resentful towards Si Mingda. In addition, Simingda's flamboyant and conceited personality makes them jealous and disgusted with him. They cannot defeat Simingda openly, so they make sarcastic remarks in private, hoping that their relationship will end as soon as possible so that they will have the opportunity to take over again and also laugh at Simingda's jokes to give their lost hearts a little balance.

Among these "rivals" who were trying to make things difficult for Si Mingda was Luo Yingtao's future boyfriend Gao Huai.

Si Mingda had long been aware of the overt and covert attacks those "rivals" were making behind his back. He knew very well that these people had dark hearts. When they couldn't get love, they became jealous and couldn't bear to see others happy.

Si Mingda was certainly aware of the gap between him and Luo Yingtao, but he was quite confident and always believed that he could win Luo Yingtao's heart with his so-called "manliness" rather than simply relying on money to please her.

Zhang Erqiang once advised: "Luo Yingtao comes from a relatively well-off family and has a somewhat arrogant personality. You and her are not suitable for each other. Before you fall too deeply in love, break up as soon as possible to avoid more nightmares. Love should be about moving forward together, not running in front while the other one chases. If you do that, your two hearts will never come together."

However, people in love have a little brain short circuit. They can neither listen to other people's advice nor distinguish right from wrong. It can only be said that the power of love is too great. The deeper the love, the deeper the hatred. When the love is unattainable, it is inevitable to do things that go against common sense.

Zhang Erqiang's well-intentioned persuasion didn't help Si Mingda stay sober. He said nonchalantly, "I know you all think my family is poor and I'm not worthy of her, but what I want to say is, once I've made up my mind, I won't look back. In my eyes, Luo Yingtao is a 'fairy descended to earth,' who has landed in my mortal world. She's my goddess, and I'm going to cherish her with true love. Not all girls are materialistic. Don't look at her so superficially. Her family is well-off, and she doesn't place too much importance on money."

"Si Mingda, love is illusory, our life is real. Luo Yingtao is not an ordinary girl, she is not so easy to manipulate."

"Don't worry, if I can't handle her, I'll slit my wrists and commit suicide. I'm willing to die for her. Don't try to persuade me. I won't regret anything I've decided on."

"Si Mingda, campus romances are rarely reliable. Once you step into society, all that so-called romance will become a joke. Why are you being so extreme?"

"I believe in my feelings. She is the eternal goddess in my heart. This will never change in this life."

This was Si Mingda's first time falling in love. As he himself said, the feeling of first love is unforgettable. During the few months he spent with Luo Yingtao, her elegant temperament and beautiful big eyes like black pearls attracted his attention like a magnet. Her every frown and smile touched his heart all the time, and his whole body and mind had long melted into her love.

He didn't care how others viewed this relationship. He only knew that Luo Yingtao was his favorite. As long as he was with her, he didn't care even if they broke into pieces. He didn't care at all about Luo's mother's snobbish slander.

During their courtship, Simingda and Luo Yingtao were like any other couple. Their initial relationship was indeed good, and they spent time together whenever they had time. In the cafeteria, they shared a set of bowls and chopsticks, feeding each other. They even walked hand in hand, their affectionate demeanor making others envious. Some enviously called them "a talented couple."

Their affectionate scene greatly stimulated Simingda's rivals. They coldly ridiculed Luo Yingtao as "a beautiful flower planted in cow dung." After hearing these rumors, Simingda smiled calmly and said, "Flowers need green leaves to set them off. I wish to be the roots under Luo Yingtao's feet for the rest of my life, forever supplying her with fertile nutrients, so that this beautiful flower will bloom more and more brightly."

It is regrettable that in just a few months, the romantic and touching love hymns are still echoing in our ears, but this mismatched love is like boiling water, which gets hot quickly and cools down quickly. The earth-shaking vows of love have unfortunately become a thing of the past, and the love hymns have become a thing of the past. It has to be said that this result is very regrettable.

The girls in dormitory 508, including Wang Mudan, Liu Hanxiu, Lan Dujuan, etc., silently watched the young lovers go from being deeply in love to breaking up cruelly. As outsiders, they had no right to interfere in their private feelings and could only sigh helplessly at this fruitless love story.

Luo Yingtao decisively broke up with her, a blow that cut like a stab through Si Mingda's heart. He felt breathless, as if the sky were falling and the earth was collapsing. He was a forceful, flamboyant man, vain and concerned with prestige. He couldn't understand why, to please her, he'd toiled on construction sites and sold small items wholesale, all to earn money to buy her snacks and flowers. He'd loved her so humbly and so wholeheartedly, yet still, he'd been abandoned? Does true love have to be measured in money? Is love without a financial foundation doomed to fail?

When he succeeded in his pursuit of love, he felt proud as if he was standing on the top of a mountain. Those were the happiest days since he entered K University. He wished that these days could last forever.

But things did not always go as planned, the sweet time was fleeting, and reality gave him a shot of adrenaline. At this moment, he truly understood what it meant to "live a life worse than death" and what it meant to "be overwhelmed with shame". How could he have the face to compete with his former "rival in love" in the future?
