Chapter 44: All these years, I only love you

After a while, Luo Yingtao asked, "Does Mudan know who you're meeting today?"

"She knows I'm going out, but she doesn't know where I'm going. If I don't tell her, she never asks." Si Mingda said self-righteously. In fact, Wang Mudan asked him where he was going, and he made up an excuse that he was going to visit a friend in the Chamber of Commerce. Wang Mudan didn't know whether it was true or not, and was afraid that he would get angry, so she didn't dare to ask more questions.

"Oh, it's not easy for Mudan either." Luo Yingtao said thoughtfully.

"Okay, let's not talk about her anymore." Si Mingda changed the subject and drove with a focused expression, as if he was thinking about something.

The overpass from Nanyou City to Nanzuo City is wide and flat, and leads to all directions. The wide road is washed very clean, and a constant stream of vehicles are driving happily. The sound of car horns and the hustle and bustle of pedestrians on the commercial street make the bustling street like boiling hot porridge.

The hustle and bustle on the street further highlighted the quietness in the car. Simingda was driving attentively, while Luo Yingtao sat aside with her eyes closed to rest. In fact, their hearts were in turmoil, and each of them had their own thoughts and calculations.

They were first love lovers, and in the best years of their lives, they had that sweet and immature love. Unfortunately, fate made them pass each other by, and that past became a memory, deeply engraved in their minds and could never be erased.

Time has passed, things have changed, and now they are middle-aged and have their own families. They have corresponding responsibilities and obligations. Now that they are reunited again, they can't help feeling a little uneasy and depressed.

After a while, Simingda turned around and looked at Luo Yingtao. His eyes showed a rare tenderness, and his voice trembled a little: "Luo Yingtao, you are getting more and more beautiful, more feminine than when you were a student."

"Haha, I was a little girl back then, but now I'm old." Luo Yingtao smiled self-deprecatingly.

"You don't look old at all. Being with you makes me feel like I'm back in K University. Time waits for no one. In the blink of an eye, I'm already in my thirties." Si Mingda sighed while driving.

"Yes, time makes people grow old. We can't go back to our youth, and we can't go back to our lives either." Luo Yingtao said with a wry smile.

Si Mingda glanced at her subconsciously, then suddenly grabbed her hand and said excitedly, "Luo Yingtao, as long as you have confidence, you will never be old."

This was their first real close contact after twelve years of separation. The last time they met, they both remained relatively rational. After all, they had been separated for too long, and both sides needed a psychological adjustment period.

Si Mingda's action made Luo Yingtao's heart flutter. She instinctively wanted to withdraw her hand, but Si Mingda held it tighter and tighter. He looked at her affectionately and said what he had buried in his heart for a long time: "Luo Yingtao, do you know how much I miss you? I have never forgotten you in these ten years."

"Okay, just concentrate on driving. We're almost on the highway." Luo Yingtao's face suddenly turned red. She took the initiative to meet Si Mingda, mainly because she wanted to discuss the customs account issue with him. In view of their special relationship, she was naturally mentally prepared for close contact, but when this moment really came, she still felt a panic in her heart. A woman with a family is naturally not as casual as when she was single. She has to consider responsibilities, morality, secularity, and the pressure of public opinion, but she can't give up the special relationship they once had. She is very conflicted.

"It's not like we haven't held hands before, what are you afraid of?"

Si Mingda said disapprovingly that when he and Luo Yingtao were in dormitory 508, they not only held hands in bed, but even hugged each other tightly. The passage of more than ten years has made them feel alienated.

Luo Yingtao silently withdrew her hand, leaned back in her chair, and turned her gaze to the window to ease her inner panic.

Simingda looked at her in confusion and asked, "What's wrong with you? Don't you like this?"

"Oh, no, we are on the highway now, please drive carefully." Luo Yingtao deliberately changed the subject. She was very conflicted at this moment. With her current experience and mind, she did not dislike Si Mingda. Apart from his considerable wealth which made her envious, his personal qualities and abilities had indeed made a great improvement compared to more than ten years ago. His every move showed the demeanor and charm of a successful man.

If they were both unmarried, she might have held his hand as generously as she did at K University and talked about their lives to her heart's content. Unfortunately, that sudden change of heart created a lifelong regret. Simingda already had Wang Mudan and three children by his side, while she had Jiang Nanmu and their son by her side. These were the gaps between them that could not be crossed. Her heart was like a tangled mess, so messy that she could not find a clue. She wanted to use him to expand her business, but also enjoyed his heart-warming love. However, due to her married status, she naturally could not escape the condemnation of her conscience.

Simingda seemed unconvinced. He continued, "We should enjoy life and not worry too much. We were young and naive at K University, so we have regrets. If I could live my life over again, I would never let go of your hand."

"Alas, the past is the past. We can't be reborn and return to the age of eighteen."

Chatting all the way, around 11 o'clock in the morning, Simingda drove the car to the LK coffee shop in Nanzuo City, a quiet place that he had contacted online in advance.

LK Cafe is luxuriously decorated and has a quiet environment. It is a relatively high-end consumption place in Nanzuo City. It serves not only coffee, but also Chinese and Western food, as well as cakes, tea, and wine. It is open 24 hours a day.

Si Mingda had dined here with clients before and was familiar with the internal environment. He took Luo Yingtao straight up to the second floor and asked the waiter for a private room.
