Chapter 72: Failure to pass the exam and not becoming a regular employee
"Alright, tonight's bill is on me." Zhou Ran gave Qi Jin a look to shut up, stood up and raised his chin towards Yan Nian: "Let's go."
Yan Nian then stood up and said to the two of them, "I'm leaving now."
Zhou Ran went out first, and Yan Nian followed behind him.
Qi Jin: "As expected, one forgets friends when seeing beauty."
Xue Jiyan watched the door close and sighed to the confused person on the sofa, "I owe you."
The two walked out of the club side by side and headed towards the parking lot.
The dedicated parking lot is in a corner of the clubhouse garden. You have to walk through a row of bamboo trees when you walk out of the gate.
Everyone had their own thoughts and they were silent all the way.
Yan Nian looked at him from the side: "Zhou Ran."
Zhou Ran nodded. He took big steps and Yan Nian would fall behind if he walked a little slower.
Yan Nian took two steps forward and raised her hand to hold his strong arm: "Can you walk slower?"
Zhou Ran slowed down, his eyes followed his hand up to her cold face, and he said one word: "Yes"
Zhou Ran didn't reject her move, so Yan Nian boldly didn't withdraw her hand, trying to divert his attention. She asked with a curved lip, "Are you angry because of what Qi Jin said?"
Zhou Ran noticed his little move, and let her pull him forward slowly, smiling and saying, "No."
Everyone in Qi Jin's gossipy circle knew about it. They weren't angry, but they were just worried that she would be embarrassed.
Yan Nian felt a little relieved.
The warm palm pressed against his hot skin, soaking it with sweat.
Suddenly, I wanted to hold his hand.
When this thought came to Yan Nian's mind, he felt as if his heart was beating wildly faster after running fast.
Qi Jin's words were like a breakthrough, and now was a good time to say something to him.
Yan Nian knew very well that if some things were not said now, who knows when the next opportunity would come, and there might not be such an opportunity again in the future.
Yan Nian called him: "Zhou Ran."
Zhou Ran nodded and waited patiently for her to speak.
Maybe she was just calling him out of boredom, or maybe she wanted to say something to him.
Some expectations.
Yan Nian bit her lip, her heart beating rapidly. After a moment of silence, she said softly, "Qi Jin said that if you have no objection to being your family member, I would like to fight for it."
Zhou Ran just smiled and said nothing.
Looking ahead calmly, he thought that this day would come, but it was a little slow, so slow that it took nearly seven years.
Yan Nian didn't get his reply, and her mood plummeted in an instant.
I was filled with pessimistic thoughts and finally let go of his arm with mixed feelings.
Once the arrow is shot, there is no turning back. Either stick to it or go ahead with it, even if he disagrees.
Or just let it go and pretend she didn't mention it tonight.
Yan Nian chose the former and reorganized his words: "I will be responsible for my words and actions. No matter what happens in the future, I will be the first to tell you. Also..." He paused for a moment, his morale dropping slightly, but then he picked himself up again, "It won't be like before. You can observe me for a while before making a decision, okay?"
Yan Nian didn't want to wait for his answer, so she said in a somewhat forceful tone, "If you don't answer, I'll take it as your consent."
Zhou Ran half-clenched his hand into a fist, and when he loosened it, he raised his hand and stroked her head, then immediately retracted it and asked with a smile, "How come you've gotten so angry chasing someone?"
The negativity on Yan Nian's face disappeared in an instant, replaced by surprise.
Yan Nian tilted her head sideways in a daze, looking at half of his profile. It seemed as if the warmth from his gentle touch was still lingering on her head.
Zhou Ran stopped, turned sideways and looked at her seriously, saying sternly, "If you fail the assessment, you won't be able to become a regular employee."
Yan Nian stood there in a daze, watching the tall figure walking forward on its own, and the corners of his lips involuntarily curled up.
Then, follow silently.
The moonlight poured down, stretching their shadows very long, just like a night in August of that year when they were walking slowly like this.
Time connects at this moment.
It was as if the past seven years had never existed, and it was just that she was the one who confessed to him first.
