Chapter 6 Young People First Meeting
Yan Nian flipped through her WeChat. Over the years, her WeChat friends have always been less than a hundred. Most of them are classmates she has no contact with or strangers she added at some unknown time, with no notes.
For a long time, she would make separate notes for the few friends on WeChat who occupied the letter Z column in other letter columns.
Yan Nian pinned Zhou Ran’s new WeChat star icon to the top. His profile picture has always been a black Z on a white background. The black and white tones look simple and lonely.
Thinking of loneliness, Yan Nian remembered something from even longer ago.
Time jumps to the summer after the college entrance examination. She had just obtained her driver's license and returned to Lindu from Lingyun to visit her grandmother.
And told grandma the news that they were moving back from Lingyun.
Her grandmother was happy and bought her a car as a coming-of-age gift. Her cousin who lived in Lindu and was studying at Lingyun University accompanied her back.
On the day of registering the license plate, my cousin took her car for a ride and let her practice her driving skills.
My cousin is my eldest uncle’s daughter.
"Wow~" my cousin was wild and shouted from the driver's seat, "I haven't felt so relaxed in a long time. Nian'er, you should shout a few times too. It feels so good."
Yan Nian smiled but didn't do as she was told. She had always been a quiet person who didn't like to show off, and she couldn't shout out in the same bold voice as her cousin.
I was really happy at that time. After leaving Lingyun, I regained my freedom. I felt like I was liberated and felt very relaxed.
"Nian'er, Second Aunt has locked you up for too long and doesn't let you do anything. You're not a lady from ancient times, so why are you so strict? Tomorrow I'll take you to the city center to see my little brother."
Yan Nian didn't say anything, and his cousin continued to chatter while holding the steering wheel.
On the way back, on a highway, Yan Nian was sitting in the passenger seat feeling a little sleepy.
My cousin suddenly slammed on the brakes to slow down the car and excitedly called out to her, "Nian'er Nian'er, look at the handsome guy in the van next to us. Damn, he's so young."
The van was driving very fast at that time. When she looked over, she only saw a white arm casually resting on the window, supporting the head.
My cousin sped up and soon drove parallel to the van. Afraid that she couldn't see it, she called out to her, "Did you see it? Did you see it?"
The person in the passenger seat of the van was typing on his phone. Yan Nian only saw half of his handsome profile. He had a clear jawline and was delicate and restrained. He was a tall young man.
They stopped the car behind them and drove parallel to them. The driver in the van said something to him, waiting until he stopped looking at his phone and even turned around.
Yan Nian saw his face clearly at this time.
The boy, with a face covered in sweat and a dazzling smile, lifted up his T-shirt to fan himself.
Smile like light.
She has a clean complexion and extremely clear amber eyes. When she smiles, her eye bags are prominently full, giving her a unique youthful look.
He casually used his five fingers to pull away the sweat-stained black hair on his forehead, revealing his smooth forehead. The hair passed through his fingers and returned to his forehead.
It's casual, handsome, and has a bit of a middle school vibe.
Sitting in the dusty van, I felt out of place.
Yan Nian's gaze was fixed on him, and the corners of her lips curled up unconsciously.
Just one glance, that moment, Yan Nian suddenly had an urge to get closer to him.
The air conditioner in the car didn't seem to work. As the van accelerated, Yan Nian's eyes were like shooting stars chasing the moon, her cheeks turned slightly red, and her heart beat a little faster.
My cousin was concentrating on driving and didn't receive any feedback from her. When there were no cars ahead, she glanced at her and asked with some disappointment, "Didn't you see it?"
Her heart was beating against her will, and Yan Nian couldn't help but hum, and said guiltily, "I didn't see it."
My cousin got the signal and said, "Okay, I'll show you one more time. Seize the opportunity, we're turning right ahead."
My cousin stepped on the accelerator and rushed forward. At this time, a black car next to them was about to change lanes, and its speed was comparable to theirs.
My cousin had no choice but to turn on the lane change signal and move her car behind the van. There were quite a lot of cars on the lane next to it, so she just kept following it.
The van in front seemed to know that they did it on purpose, and kept speeding up, not giving them the chance to change lanes and overtake, and imitated them, driving parallel to the car next to them.
Yan Nian didn't notice what her cousin did.
When she had the chance to drive parallel to the van, my cousin drove to the side lane and was about to see him again. At this moment, a car on the right tried to overtake them and go to the left lane.
My cousin didn't have time to brake and turned the steering wheel slightly to the left. The van came over to squeeze in, and then all we heard was the sound of cars scraping against each other.
The light ahead changed from green to yellow, and my cousin didn't have time to brake, so they rushed straight ahead instead of turning right.
My cousin was a little scared, so they stopped on the side of the road for a while with their hazard lights on.
When she got out to check her car, she found that the left side of her new car was badly scratched.
Not seeing the van coming, they prepared to find a place to turn around and go back to check the situation. Just after they started, the wheel of the car hit something and the tire suddenly burst in a dramatic way.
This is the new car that grandma bought her.
They contacted the insurance company to send a tow truck and waited on the side of the road, watching to see if the van would come.
Yan Nian's phone was always in silent mode. After contacting the insurance company, she kept holding it in her hand without paying attention, so she didn't answer the call from the traffic police.
When she picked up her phone, she saw a lot of missed calls and a text message that was sent two minutes ago.
It was a local, unfamiliar number: [Brother, you're so brave! Hit-and-run, your car's badly scratched, right? Where can I get it repaired? You're no man if you run away. You have three minutes to call back, or the traffic police will blacklist you.]
The other party mistook her for a man, and the situation would be very bad if she didn't call back, so Yan Nian quickly called the person who sent the text message.
The call was connected soon.
Yan Nian knew it was their fault, so she was a little embarrassed to greet them first: "Hello!"
After several seconds, a man's voice came from the phone. He sounded very young.
Yan Nian couldn't help but think of the person in the passenger seat of the van. But she was also afraid that he wasn't the one. After all, he looked very noble and didn't seem like someone who drove a van. So she asked tentatively, "Are you the owner of the van?"
The person on the other end said seriously, "Your car scratched ours. Let's go to the traffic police station to deal with it!"
Yan Nian was embarrassed. With a very proper attitude, he apologized first: "I'm so sorry, I'll come right over. Please send me the address!"
After hanging up the phone, I received a text message from an unknown number.
The cousin stayed to deal with her car, and Yan Nian took a taxi to the traffic police station.
After arriving at the traffic police station, before entering the hall, I saw Zhou Ran sitting on a chair. He was sitting lazily and casually, dressed well, like a young master who didn't care about anything.
After Yan Nian went in, he was so greedy for beauty today that he acted so ridiculously that he caused the traffic accident.
She first glanced around calmly, pretending to be looking for someone, and then her eyes met Zhou Ran's.
There weren't actually many people in the hall. Yan Nian started to get nervous at this point and slowly moved over to stand in front of Zhou Ran.
Zhou Ran probably didn't expect that the person who scratched their car would be her, and his gaze froze for a moment.
Yan Nian asked, trying to hide the truth, "Hello, are you the owner of the van?"
Zhou Ran replied: "No."
His expression was somewhat indescribable, as if to say to her, "Do I look like someone who drives a van?"
Yan Nian was slightly startled, not knowing what he meant. She was at a loss for a moment and could only say, "I'm sorry."
Prepare to go find a driver.
Before she could leave, Zhou Ran suddenly raised his voice: "But, I was riding in a van today and got scared."
“…” Yan Nian looked at him in disbelief.
Zhou Ran asked her, "What's your name?"
Yan Nian suddenly felt like laughing, but she suppressed it and replied, "My name is Yan Nian, Yan means color, and Nian means miss."
Zhou Ran raised the corners of his lips, and the bags under his eyes became more prominent. With a bit of childishness, he stood up and stretched out his hand to her: "Zhou Ran, and then Ran."
