"Our young master wants this white cat."
A servant ran over, arrogantly telling Jing Le and the others that judging by their skill level, they must have done this quite often.
"I don't care who your young master is, don't even think about it, this is my sister's."
Unexpectedly, the Ninth Prince was the first to step forward.
The usually shy Ninth Prince stood behind Jing Le and Bai Hu, facing the arrogant servant directly.
[Ninth Brother is so brave! He actually knows how to protect his little sister. He's so adorable.]
Jing Le gives me a feeling of watching my son grow up. Is this the joy of raising a child?!
The Third Prince and Duan Feibai were jealous. Oh no, Xiao Jiu beat them to it! They also wanted to be praised by their sister.
"Exactly, you think we have to give you what you want? What kind of rule is that?"
Duan Feibai also stepped forward, blocking Jing Le's other side.
"That's right, this white cat is mine. If you want it, go buy it yourselves. You're not going to try to steal it, are you? Humph."
Jing Le picked up the white tiger from the ground, poked out its round head, and said proudly.
"My young master and young lady are from the family of the Minister of Revenue. Do you commoners dare to offend them?"
Seeing that Jing Le and his companions were so ungrateful, the servant became even more rude:
"My young lady taking a liking to your white cat is a blessing for you. Do you know Princess Prodigy? She is my young lady's good friend. You dare to offend us? Aren't you afraid of being punished by the princess?"
This is a blatant threat.
Jing Le and the other three exchanged glances. Good heavens, Jing Jiayue has actually been involved.
They're not afraid of a princess.
Which of the four of them wasn't a prince or princess? Duan Feibai was even the crown prince of the Duan Kingdom, though the Duan Kingdom was gone.
"You should keep this good fortune to yourselves; we don't need it."
Jing Le looked disgusted and turned to the Third Prince, saying, "Third Brother, let's pay the bill and leave. I want to go and explore other places."
"Alright." The Third Prince immediately went to pay the bill, and the others completely ignored the servant.
This blatant disregard infuriated the servant; he had never been treated like this since becoming the young master's personal servant.
He's always the one who makes others angry. Every time they see him, even if they're angry, they don't dare to offend him, which gives them a strange sense of accomplishment.
They felt as if they were superior to others.
He never expected to run into such a tough opponent today. These people didn't even respect him or the Ministry of Revenue's residence. He was furious.
Let's see if he doesn't teach them a lesson.
A surge of resentment rose in his eyes, and he beckoned to several guards not far away: "Come and help."
The guards understood what he meant and, having done their share of such things, immediately ran over.
"Go, just don't kill it, and don't hurt the white cat."
"yes."
This means that as long as everyone else survives, it's fine; the important thing is the white cat.
Jing Le was surprised that this group of people would actually dare to make a move, and her eyes darkened slightly.
"Young master and young lady, please be careful."
The old man selling candied hawthorns happened to see the group of people carrying sticks coming this way and immediately warned them.
She stood up shakily, clearly terrified, but still went around the table and stood in front of Jing Le to shield him.
He continued, "Please, let them go. They're still young."
"Get out of my way, old man, or I'll beat you up too."
The servant pushed aside the old man selling candied hawthorns.
"Grandpa, be careful."
Jing Le helped the old man who had been pushed to the side and used her spiritual energy to protect him from falling.
"Lele/Little sister, are you alright?"
The Third Prince and his companions immediately surrounded them.
Their eyes were also filled with anger; they never expected that such oppression of ordinary people could happen in the capital.
He must inform his father when he returns to the palace.
"Hand over the white cat. I'm not someone to be trifled with. Judging by your clothes, your family must be merchants. Of the social classes, merchants are the lowest. You think you can fight against the government? Dream on! Hahaha."
The servants surrounded Jing Le and his companions, treating them like lambs to the slaughter.
"That's right. If you behave yourselves and train the white cat properly, you'll avoid a beating. But if you remain stubborn, Brother Wu is not someone to be trifled with."
The guards chimed in, "You're all so good-looking. If you don't listen to Brother Wu, we'll sell all the young ones, and the older ones can be sold to some remote mountain village to be live-in sons-in-law. Hahaha."
What was said in jest was taken seriously by the listener; a glint flashed in the servant's eyes.
Sell them, hehe, that's a good idea. Just a few days ago, I received a letter from them wanting some fresh goods, so here we are.
Because of the angle, Jing Le caught the servant's scrutinizing gaze and, recalling what had just been said, instantly understood.
This lad is suspicious; he's trying to sell us out. It's probably not his first time doing this, so he must have connections.
The Third Prince and his companions were also surprised by Jing Le's speculation. They never expected that a mere servant could be involved with human traffickers.
Whether this is true or not still needs to be verified.
Jing Le pretended to be very scared and tremblingly handed over the white tiger in her arms.
Her eyes were brimming with tears, and she looked utterly pitiful: "You, you mustn't sell us. This white cat is yours."
The servant sized up Jing Le, his eyes filled with even more calculation, and took the white cat: "Alright, the white cat is in hand. Go back and report."
"yes."
The group returned to the carriage with the white cat to report their mission. Immediately, a girl's sweet laughter rang out from inside: "Brother, this white cat is so cute! Tomorrow, I'm going to take it to Princess Jiayue..."
The white tiger inside the carriage was completely bewildered; had it just been given away like that?
