After leaving the courtyard, Zhu Chunhua stuffed a White Rabbit candy into her mouth and carefully put away the rest before saying, "Ah Tong, it would be great if your uncle came every day. Oh, no wonder Chen Xiaofang envied you. I envy you too, for having such a rich uncle."
Zhu Xingtong didn't know how to answer for a moment, so he simply peeled a candy. It tasted really good, no wonder Zhu Chunhua looked so enjoying it.
Zhu Chunhua didn't care and turned around to look for Xiao Zhu. Not seeing him, she looked outside the yard and saw Xiao Zhu and Tong Tong distributing White Rabbit milk candies to their friends.
"This prodigal child!" She screamed and jumped out, shouting, "Stop it, Zhu Xiaozhu, stop it right now."
The children surrounding Xiaozhu and Tongtong immediately ran away in a swarm.
Zhu Chunhua looked at their empty hands and said angrily, "You, you two little fools, don't ask me for more after you finish eating."
Tongtong and Xiaozhu didn't take it seriously. They looked at Zhu Chunhua with a smile, and they still had candies in their mouths.
Zhu Chunhua stamped her feet, turned around angrily and went back to the yard. She went to Zhu Xingtong and said, "Ah Tong, why didn't you stop Tongtong?"
Zhu Xingtong said, "That's his own candy. He won't eat it if I give it to him."
Zhu Chunhua said distressedly, "That's what I said, but I gave one to my brother and my parents, so there aren't many left. If Xiaozhu sees me eating again, he'll definitely ask me for more, and I'll definitely give it to him. If this continues, won't I have less to eat?"
Zhu Xingtong took out two pills from his pocket and handed them over. "Xiaozhu is also my brother. I gave these to him. If he asks you for them, just give them to him."
Zhu Chunhua didn't answer: "No, you don't have much, and Tongtong will definitely ask you for it."
Zhu Xingtong: "I'll tell him I ate them all. Besides, there's still half a bag on the table."
Zhu Chunhua then took it and said with a smile: "Atong, you are so kind."
Over here, Zhu Youliang slaughtered a chicken and went into the kitchen, where Liang Yuan was preparing some side dishes. There wasn't much to eat at home, so most of the dishes were brought in by Huang Mei. There weren't any special dishes either, just some leftover bacon from the Lunar New Year and some fresh vegetables from the garden. Huang Mei had originally wanted to help with the cooking, but Zhu Youliang declined.
When Liang Yuan saw him come in, she sat down in front of the stove and said as she lit the fire, "Your mother is really good to you!"
Zhu Youliang smiled and replied, "Your mother-in-law treats you well too. When she heard someone from your parents' home was coming, she immediately asked for leave and came over because she was worried that you wouldn't know how to cook and would neglect your brother."
After saying this, the two of them were stunned at the same time. However, they soon started laughing again.
Liang Yuan even said: "We got a good deal. We will treat the old couple well in the future."
Zhu Youliang nodded: "There will be plenty of opportunities in the future." After that, he glanced outside the door and whispered: "Be careful, don't let yourself be caught."
Liang Yuan said nonchalantly, "It's been years since we last met, so it's possible he's forgotten and changed. If I'm not mistaken, he might have just come to see me."
Zhu Youliang was confused: "What do you mean?"
Liang Yuan didn't explain much: "Cook your dish well and I'll tell you later."
Zhu Youliang nodded and added, "My parents seem very satisfied with Zhang Tao. Do you think they are planning to let my younger sister marry him?"
Liang Yuan shook her head. "I haven't noticed, but I think it's unlikely. He doesn't look like he was born into a family like ours. To put it bluntly, I'm afraid he looks down on me."
Liang Youliang nodded, "That's right." He'd been here for almost a month, and of his siblings, he'd only met his eldest brother's family and his third sister-in-law. He hadn't even met his third brother. His third brother's father-in-law was a carpenter, and he'd recently taken a big job and taken his son-in-law with him to help out, so he hadn't been home since the busy farming season. But it was almost the end of the month, and school was about to let out, so he'd get to see his two younger siblings.
Farmers couldn't cook anything good, so Zhu Youliang quickly whipped up four dishes and a soup. This was all thanks to the original owner's culinary skills; otherwise, he wouldn't have been able to do it. Although the original owner was lazy, he was also very smart, which is why he rarely went into the kitchen but could still cook.
Seeing that it was almost time for dinner, Zhu Chunhua prepared to take her brother home. Her uncle's family was poor and they had no food to give them.
Zhu Youliang happened to see this and hurriedly called out to them, "Chunhua, you and Xiaozhu should have dinner at Sixth Uncle's house, and then go out and play." Because the second brother-in-law was going back by train that evening, dinner had been prepared in advance. You couldn't let someone come all this way and leave without even a meal.
Zhu Chunhua looked at the large bowl of broth in Zhu Youliang's hand and couldn't refuse. She said happily, "Okay."
Zhu Youliang smiled and nodded, "Take your brother to the kitchen to wash his hands."
In the main hall, Old Zhu had already set up the table in the middle, and Huang Mei was setting out the dishes. Zhu Xingtong brought water for Liang Cheng and Zhang Tao to wash their hands. After they finished, they teased Tongtong, whose childish ramblings made them laugh.
Seeing Zhu Youliang bring in the dishes, Liang Cheng raised his head and said, "We're all family, just two dishes will do." When he came, he had originally intended to give his brother-in-law the cold shoulder. After arriving, he found that despite his poor family background, his brother-in-law was a nice person, so he became more friendly. He looked at his sister and saw that she was still the same as before, so he had seen that she was not bad. In addition, his brother-in-law's parents were reasonable and not difficult to deal with, which made him feel a little relieved. After all, they were brother and sister, and he also wanted his sister to live a good life. He might have made this trip with the intention of supporting his sister.
"I just made some home-cooked dishes. Don't mind me, second brother, and brother Zhang Tao." Zhu Youliang said happily.
