Liang Yuan gave him a meaningful look, then smiled and said, "After you wrote to me the other day, Chen Yan came to see me."
Liang Cheng glared at her, "Is this the kind of person I am in your mind as your second brother? I was wrong before, and I admit my mistakes, but haven't I changed now that I know my mistakes?"
Liang Yuan nodded: "That's good. Don't blame me for thinking too much. I really can't believe that you two are still in contact. And Chen Yan has already made up her mind. It won't be easy for you to get rid of her."
Liang Cheng said, "Apart from occasionally asking about her situation in the letters I wrote to you, I haven't done anything else. By the way, where are those letters?"
Liang Yuan waved her hand and said, "I burned them all." Ever since she knew Chen Yan had something on her mind, she had dug out all the letters and burned them.
Liang Cheng breathed a sigh of relief, "It doesn't matter if it's burned."
Liang Yuan: "Aren't you going to explain it to her face to face?"
Liang Cheng shook his head, "No, it's better for us not to meet, so as to avoid misunderstandings."
Liang Yuan listened, but didn't intend to intervene. She had nothing more to say to Liang Cheng, so she prepared to leave. Then she heard a female voice in the yard. She didn't know who Chen Yan was.
But when Chen Yan heard that Liang Cheng had arrived, she waited for Liang Yuan to call her and even packed up. But when it was almost dark, no one came to call her. After finding an excuse, she came over on her own.
Liang Yuan glanced at Liang Cheng and saw him stand up nervously and look outside through the window.
"Everyone has found their home, so it seems you have to explain it clearly." Liang Yuan said and walked out first.
Chen Yan was talking to Huang Mei, saying that she heard that Liang Cheng had come and wanted to inquire about the news from her mother's family.
Huang Mei didn't think much about it. When she saw Liang Yuan come out, she asked her to call people.
Liang Yuan asked rudely, "What are you doing here again?"
Chen Yan was filled with hatred in her heart, but she said on the surface: "I came to ask Brother Cheng if there is any news about my mother's family."
Liang Yuan sneered, "My brother is away from home all year round and doesn't even go back for the New Year. How would he know anything about your family?" She had no feelings for Chen Yan, but she hated the original owner, so she naturally had to stand on the original owner's side.
Zhu Youliang was chatting with Zhang Tao when he noticed something was amiss in the atmosphere outside. Thinking of what Liang Yuan had said earlier, he said, "Sister-in-law Chen, please come in and sit down. My second brother is resting in his room. I'll go get him out."
Liang Yuan turned around and glared at Zhu Youliang, then turned and went into the house.
Liang Cheng came out after hearing what Zhu Youliang said. He happened to run into Chen Yan who had just walked in. After a moment of hesitation, he said, "You are Yuanyuan's friend Chen Yan, right? I haven't seen you for many years. I almost didn't recognize you."
Chen Yan's heart sank to the bottom of the valley at the unfamiliar tone. Thinking of this, she immediately looked at Liang Yuan, thinking she must have said something. She hadn't received a reply to the letter she had written earlier, and she felt a little uneasy. She hadn't expected Liang Cheng to change his mind so quickly. A man's words were indeed the most untrustworthy.
Liang Yuan would not give her face and immediately asked: "My brother is talking to you, why are you looking at me?"
Chen Yan smiled awkwardly and said, "No, it's not that Cheng Ge said we were friends, so I thought you forgave me."
Liang Yuan said sarcastically, "What did you do wrong that you need my forgiveness?"
"Yuanyuan." Liang Cheng gave Liang Yuan a warning look before saying to Chen Yan, "Yuanyuan is just like that. Don't bother with her."
Chen Yan looked at him deeply, and seeing a hint of panic in his eyes, she asked, "I just came to ask. My mother wrote to me a while ago saying that her waist was not feeling well. She hasn't written to me recently, so I wanted to ask if everything is okay at home."
Liang Cheng turned his eyes away and said, "I really don't know about this, but they should all be fine. I haven't heard of anyone getting sick in the yard."
Chen Yan smiled and nodded, "That's good. By the way, Brother Cheng, are you married? I have a younger sister on my mother's side..."
Liang Cheng interrupted her and said, "No, no, I'm getting married at the end of the year."
Chen Yan asked hurriedly: "Whose family is this? Do I know him?"
Liang Cheng shook his head: "I don't think he knows me. My leader introduced me to him. He's a returned educated youth just like you."
Chen Yan had completely given up hope. Liang Cheng had never promised her anything, and she'd been keeping him hanging for fear of being discovered. Besides those letters, even if she told others about their relationship, no one would believe her. Even when they were dating, few knew about it. Thinking of this, she looked at Liang Yuan again. She had all those letters in her hand.
Liang Yuan understood her meaning in an instant and said silently, "Burn it."
Chen Yan's face paled; this last chance was gone. She tried hard to control her expression, not wanting anyone to notice. She still had a husband and daughter. A falling out would have a greater impact on her. So, she stood up and said, "It's getting dark, and I have to go home to cook. I won't disturb you siblings." With that, she quickly walked out.
Huang Mei only noticed something was wrong at this moment. She looked at Liang Cheng and wondered if there had been some past relationship between the two. However, she didn't think much about it. After all, Chen Yan was married, and Liang Cheng was about to get married too.
Seeing Chen Yan leave, Liang Cheng was completely relieved and turned to ask Zhu Youliang about his work. After it got dark, he got in Zhang Tao's car and left.
As soon as the man left, Huang Mei pulled him aside and asked, "Lao Liu, what do you think of Zhang Tao?"
Zhu Youliang hurriedly said, "Mom, don't think about it. I've just been chatting with him, and I can tell he's definitely rich and noble. We're not a good match, so he's not right for me."
Huang Mei said somewhat unwillingly, "Don't you young people all think that as long as two people like each other, everything is fine. You and Yuanyuan are not a good match, but you are doing fine now. Besides, I'm young and beautiful, and I'm in high school. In a year, I might even be a college student. How can you say we're not a good match?"
