Chapter 28 Crying Sister Zhu

The busy farming season was almost over, and there wasn't much work to do each day, so Liang Yuan switched to a half-day workday. Instead of working in the afternoon, Liang Yuan stayed home to do laundry. The countryside was dusty and hot, so there was a lot of laundry to do. Before she finished, she heard someone calling her. It was a woman in a blue blouse.

"Youxian, you're back." Liang Yuan looked up and smiled. The Zhu family had eight children, four of whom were girls. Their names were Yourong, Youmao, Youyan, and Youxian. Youxian was originally Youhua, but after her brother changed his name, she disliked the tacky sound of her own and changed it to Youxian, saying she wanted to be as beautiful as a fairy. Not to mention, each of the Zhu family's children was more beautiful than the last, so the name was fitting.

"It's a holiday today. Where are Ah Tong and Tong Tong?" Zhu Youxian said as she glanced into the yard, which looked much cleaner. At first, she hadn't believed her mother's words that her sixth brother and his wife weren't lazy anymore, but now it seemed to be true. She just didn't know how much longer they could keep doing it.

"I'm going to cut the grass. I caught a nest of rabbits the other day and insisted on raising them. So I have to cut the grass every day." Liang Yuan said as he wrung out the clothes in his hands and put them in the basin beside him. He was afraid that his sister-in-law came here at this time because something happened.

Sure enough, Zhu Youxian nodded and said, "Sixth sister-in-law, my eldest sister is here. Mother asked you to come over. She said she has something to discuss."

Liang Yuan nodded, stopped washing clothes, stood up, wiped her hands, closed the gate and followed Zhu Youxian to the old house.

On the way, Liang Yuan didn't ask much, and Zhu Youxian didn't want to say much either. They just arrived at the old house in silence. The original owner didn't have much contact with Zhu Youxian in his memory, so he probably had an ordinary relationship with him.

As soon as they entered the old house, the gate was closed by Zhu Youxian. Before Liang Yuan went in, she heard suppressed crying in the house. Not knowing what had happened, she turned to look at Zhu Youxian. Zhu Youxian said disdainfully: "Brother-in-law hits sister again!"

Liang Yuan was surprised by her attitude, but he said nothing and turned back inside. Except for the one who wasn't home, the whole family was there, including Miao Miaomiao. Miao Miaomiao was Zhu Chunhua's mother, who had troubled herself with her name for a long time. Liang Yuan had met her once or twice since arriving, but they hadn't exchanged many words.

When Huang Mei saw Liang Yuan coming, she didn't say anything and continued to comfort Zhu Yourong.

Liang Yuan glanced at Zhu Yourong and saw her head lowered, her thoughts unclear. Even so, she could still see her swollen, high eyes. She found a seat and began to reflect, finding memories related to Zhu Yourong. It turned out this wasn't the first time Zhu Yourong had been beaten. Besides sending a few brothers to beat Wang Jincai the previous times, the Zhu family had subsequently urged Zhu Yourong to divorce. Wang Jincai was a tough nut to crack. He'd always beat her under the influence of alcohol, then admit his fault and beg for forgiveness, acting as if it was her fault if she didn't forgive him. It was infuriating. Zhu Yourong refused to divorce, arguing that she was also at fault, and that she pitied her children. But every time she was beaten, she'd come to her parents' house and cry for days. Over time, the Zhu family gave up on urging her to come back. This time, for some reason, they summoned everyone.

Huang Mei saw her sitting down, then slowly said: "Now that we're here, let me tell you something. Yourong came back this time determined to get a divorce. Can you all help her with some advice on how to get a divorce?"

After hearing this, Miao Miaomiao was surprised and said, "Sister, are you really going to divorce? Even if Wang Jincai says a few nice words, you won't divorce again. It will be us who will be embarrassed."

Song Hehua also echoed: "That's right, that's right, sister, you'd better think it over carefully." To be honest, she really didn't want Zhu Yourong to get divorced. If she got divorced, she would have to move back to her parents' home, which would mean living with their eldest son.

Zhu Yourong suddenly raised her head and said, "It's not me who wants a divorce, it's Wang Jincai. He has a lover outside, and she's pregnant now, and he's anxious for me to make room for him. He said if I don't divorce him, he'll beat me every day, and he'll beat the child too."

Lao Zhu pounded the table angrily, "If he dares, I'll let your brothers beat him up again. His sweetheart can't be spared either. I asked your mother to scold her so much that she didn't dare to go out. You, you, why are you so heartless? I tried to persuade you to stay away from you until life and death, but as soon as Wang Youcai said it, you agreed instantly."

Zhu Yourong cried, "I have no choice. I didn't leave before because of the children and I didn't want to burden you. Now I really have no choice. He is too cruel. Even the two-year-old girl was kicked several times by him. If I don't leave, my mother and I will be beaten to death by him. It's also my fault that I didn't live up to my expectations and didn't give birth to a son. If I had a son, his parents would have said a few words for me. Now they are relying on the man outside to give them a grandson. When they saw us being beaten, they didn't even say a word to persuade us. It's okay for me, but I can't let the children get beaten with me."

"You beast! You think there's no one in our Zhu family. Youjie, go call Shangzhi and the others, we'll go to Wang's house now." Zhu Youtian was so angry that he was about to go out.

Old Zhu yelled, "Stop! We haven't discussed this yet, why are you going?"

Zhu Youtian had no choice but to sit back in his original seat with his head down.

Huang Mei asked her eldest daughter, "Why didn't you bring Daya and the others with you this time?"

Zhu Yourong said weakly, "My mother-in-law won't let me bring them back. She said I can go back on my own if I want to."

"You, you." Huang Mei sighed. This eldest daughter is just too sensible, but who knows that being too sensible can also be wrong.

Zhu Youxian said from the side: "Sister, you are too cowardly. Why should you give up your position just because that vicious woman outside asks you to?" She didn't want her elder sister to get divorced. With a divorced sister, it would be difficult for her to get married in the future.
