Chapter 3: Going to Work and Apologizing

Zhu Youliang's voice suddenly rang out: "Yuanyuan, it's time to eat."

After hearing this, Liang Yuan no longer felt bad for the jar and rushed to the kitchen. She took off the lid and saw half a pot of wild vegetable porridge. She sniffed and felt a little nervous again. She had already learned from the original owner's diary that food should be eaten sparingly. This porridge was so thick, wouldn't it be eaten up quickly? But she didn't say much. She scooped a bowl for everyone and picked up her own bowl to drink it up. It was so delicious.

"How's it going, wife? My cooking skills are pretty good, right?" Zhu Youliang asked expectantly. Compared to the nutrient solution, this pure natural plant is so fragrant.

"Yeah." Liang Yuan nodded, and after she finished the porridge in the bowl, she said, "You have to work hard in the future. Our family depends on you." After that, she took the two bowls of porridge for the two children and went out.

Zhu Youliang nodded confidently and drank his portion of porridge. Just as he was about to take a look, he saw a young man walking by as he approached the window.

He subconsciously said, "Ergou, good morning."

Ergou stopped and said with a mouthful of teeth, "Do you want to go to work? Let's go together."

Zhu Youliang was just wondering where to go to work and what the process would be. He immediately nodded and said okay. Then he shouted into the house, "Wife, let's go."

"I'm coming, I'm coming." Liang Yuan agreed, asked her daughter to wash the dishes and take care of Xiao Tongtong, and then ran out.

When Ergou saw Liang Yuan coming out, he said with some surprise, "Is my sister-in-law going too?" This person rarely goes to work. He is always feeling unwell here or there and is always asking for leave.

Now that he has such a good excuse, why does he still go to work?

Zhu Youliang nodded without saying anything. After Liang Yuan came out, the couple followed Ergou onward. They just hummed and hummed to whatever Ergou said. Since they left late, they didn't meet anyone. When they reached the dam at the entrance to the village, it was already crowded. Huang Mei had arrived long ago and was standing on tiptoe to look back. Seeing that Xiao'er and his wife had arrived, she nodded, turned around, and started talking to her eldest son's wife.

The eldest daughter-in-law is called Song Hehua. She married in from Liuhegou on the other side of the mountain. After she married in, she gave birth to two big fat boys at once, which made her very popular in her husband's family. In addition, she is hardworking and a good worker, so she is trusted by Huang Mei. Seeing her mother-in-law smiling happily, she felt a little uncomfortable in her heart, feeling sorry for her husband. The sixth son was not bad at all, but too lazy. In the past, in order to avoid working in the fields, he insisted on studying. After graduating from high school, he wanted to go to college, but was not allowed to go to college, so he returned home reluctantly. He married a daughter-in-law who is even lazier than him. The whole family needs support, which is a burden for them. But her mother-in-law is partial to the sixth son. He looks most like her, so he is the one she likes the most, and her husband and sons are all ranked behind. But she is used to being a good person. When she saw her mother-in-law say that the sixth uncle is hardworking, she felt disdainful in her heart, but she agreed with her.

Huang Mei knew what her daughter-in-law was thinking, but she didn't care.

How could she control who she liked? She'd already done well enough. After they got married, the family was divided, leaving only the seventh and eighth sons unmarried to live with her. Even when she subsidized the sixth son, it was from her and the old man's share, not from the old man's family's money to support her son. If everyone in the village had lived with the eldest son, and she wasn't afraid of embarrassing him, she would have preferred to live with the sixth son.

Soon, the team leader arrived with the accountant. After a headcount, they began assigning tasks. Zhu Youliang was assigned to planting rice, while Liang Yuan was assigned to cutting grass for the pigs. The couple exchanged a glance and hurriedly followed the people they were assigned to.

Soon, Zhu Youliang followed Ergou to a paddy field, rolled up his trouser legs, and went into the field. Following the others' example, he separated a seedling and planted it in the field. As soon as he planted it, the seedling floated up from the water. He had no choice but to plant it again. Because it was his first time, he had some obsessive-compulsive disorder and he carefully measured the distance between each seedling, so his speed was inevitably slow, so that in just a short while, Ergou had left him a long distance. People around him were not surprised when they saw it, after all, he always liked to slack off. Of course, there were also people who couldn't stand it, and they made fun of him for being lazy across the field, but he just smiled and said nothing.

Zhu Youliang ignored the stares and ridicule of others, and didn't respond. He simply felt tired and hot. But he knew this kind of life would last for a while, and he had to adapt, so he gritted his teeth and persevered. Only when the captain called for a break did he rub his back and sit down on the stalk of the field.

To save time, most people stayed home, waiting for their families to bring them food. Zhu Youliang didn't know if Liang Yuan would bring food, so he hurried home anyway. When he got home, he saw smoke rising from the kitchen ceiling and finally breathed a sigh of relief. He was starving; the porridge he had had that morning was long gone. Seeing him back, Liang Yuan said with some surprise, "I was just about to bring it to you." Cutting grass for the pigs was easy work, and the people who went with her were either old women or young girls. She had gotten a lot of information out of him that morning and learned a lot.

Zhu Youliang didn't say anything. He picked up the porridge on the stove and started drinking it. After finishing it, he said, "Find me a bottle to fill with water. I'll take it to the fields this afternoon." It was such a hot day. He hadn't had any water all morning, and his throat was burning.

"Look how tired you are. You've been busy with farming for several days." Liang Yuan said worriedly.

Hearing Zhu Youliang's voice, Zhu Xingtong led his brother into the kitchen.

"Dad." Zhu Yuetong ran over immediately when he saw Zhu Liang.

"Be good and listen to your sister." Zhu Youliang touched his head and said.

"Tongtong listens to her sister. Tongtong is the best." Zhu Yuetong said with her head held high.
