There are different opinions about Liang Yuan's donation of 100 yuan to the primary school.
Chen Youguo quickly clapped his loudspeaker. "Quiet, quiet. Now, please give Comrade Zhu Youliang a warm round of applause as he shares his learning experience with everyone."
Upon hearing this, Zhu Youliang took out a piece of paper and went to the stage. "Comrade Liang Yuan and I have some different opinions on learning experience and learning methods, so I wrote a piece of paper too. I'll post it on the school bulletin board later, so I won't read it here. Comrade Liang Yuan has already said everything that needs to be said, and the weather is getting hot, so I'll just say a few words."
"First of all, the learning experiences and methods that Liang Yuan and I share aren't suitable for everyone. I'm writing them here just for your reference, and you can also develop your own ideas as you learn. If you have good study methods, you can also share them with your classmates. Also, yesterday, many people asked me to borrow my study notes, so Liang Yuan and I each compiled a copy. Some took notes directly in the textbook, while others kept separate notes in notebooks. My set is probably the most comprehensive, covering elementary school to high school, so I donated it to the elementary school. It will be kept by Teacher Sun from now on, and anyone who needs it can borrow and copy it. Liang Yuan's copy only covers high school, so I gave it to my younger brother Youjie for safekeeping. Anyone who needs it can borrow it from him. Finally, like Liang Yuan, I hope everyone can support their children in going to school, and that all those who can will cherish this opportunity and study hard and improve every day."
Chen Youguo took the loudspeaker from Zhu Youliang, clapped it twice, and then said, "Today's sharing session ends here. To celebrate the fact that two college students have emerged from the village, we're giving you a day off today. Everyone go home and think carefully about it. Children still need to go to school. Now, those who want to see learning experiences should line up in front of the bulletin board. Those who want to borrow notes can come back tomorrow when there are fewer people. Register first and then borrow. If you damage a book, we won't lend it to you. Everyone else, please go home and look after your mothers."
After saying that, he wiped the sweat from his forehead and waved to Zhu Youliang and Liang Yuan, indicating that they could leave.
Zhu Youliang and Liang Yuan were about to leave when a group of high school students, carrying books, gathered around them, apparently asking questions. The two of them immediately ushered them into a classroom at the back and answered their questions one by one.
After the last student left, the two realized that Sun Shouyi had been waiting outside the door. They stood up quickly and said, "Teacher Sun."
Sun Shouyi waved his hand. "It's okay. I just came to ask about the 100 yuan you donated to the school. Do you have any specific rules?"
After Liang Yuan came down, he gave the hundred yuan to Chen Youguo and asked him to pass it on to Sun Shouyi. Sun Shouyi had actually been standing downstairs the whole time, just behind the crowd.
Liang Yuan shook his head. "Teacher Sun, to be honest, this was just a spur-of-the-moment decision. I need to think it over carefully. How about this? I'll go back and write something, and then have Youliang send it to you later."
Sun Shouyi nodded. "No rush. There's still some time before school starts. You gave a great speech today. I thank you on behalf of the children."
"Thank you for the compliment, Teacher Sun. I have only done my little bit, and you are the one who really does the work. If we really want to thank someone, we should thank you, thank you for staying here. I heard Youliang mention that if you hadn't insisted, Daqian Primary School might have closed down long ago." Liang Yuan said sincerely.
Sun Shouyi nodded. "Education is a long-term project. Someone has to do this. I'm old now, and it's up to you young people to take care of it." He stood up and said, "Let's all go back."
Zhu Youliang watched him walk out of the school with a somewhat dejected look on his face, and said to Liang Yuan, "Yuanyuan, you go back first. I'll go see Teacher Sun off."
"Okay." Liang Yuan yawned and then walked home.
Seeing Zhu Youliang catching up, Sun Shouyi said unhappily, "What are you sending me? I don't even know the way back."
"Teacher Sun, didn't you say before that what happened before was over? Why do you still look angry with me? Now I have started to learn to give back to my hometown as you wished, so why are you still angry?" Zhu Youliang said deliberately.
"Who is angry? I just see my old self in you." Sun Shouyi said fiercely.
Zhu Youliang was silent for a while, then he said quietly, "Teacher Sun, do you hate him?"
Sun Shouyi sighed and said, "It's all in the past. What's there to be angry about?"
Zhu Youliang gave him a thumbs-up and then added, "An old horse in the stable still aspires to run a thousand miles, a martyr in his old age still has great ambitions. Teacher Sun, I think you can still make more use of your remaining energy."
Sun Shouyi glared at him, "Why? Can't I just take a break?"
Zhu Youliang hurriedly said, "Yes, yes, yes. I saw that you were a little depressed, so I wanted to encourage you."
Sun Shouyi suddenly stopped and walked towards the slope next to him. Looking at the lush green rice fields in front of him, he said, "You have food. You are luckier than us old guys. Just like Liang Yuan advised the children, you must cherish it. You must know that when the tide of the times rolls in, no one can remain immune. You must not give up the pursuit of light because of a moment of darkness. I know you have been speaking up for me, an old man, but today I tell you that I do not blame or hate you. In that situation, everyone's choices may be forced upon them. Forgiving them is also letting yourself go."
These words were clearly directed at the original owner. Upon hearing them, Zhu Youliang felt a palpable sense of relief. It was an instinctive reaction. It seemed the original owner's subsequent refusal to touch the book, or perhaps even her various utilitarian behaviors, had a reason. He pondered for a moment before saying, "Teacher Sun, don't worry. I've figured it out."
Sun Shouyi nodded. "That's good, that's good. You have always been a good child, I know that."
After Zhu Youliang sent Sun Shouyi home, he went back home. The two children were not at home. Only Liang Yuan was sitting in front of the window writing something.
"Why don't you take a rest? Aren't you tired? There's no rush for this, you can write it later." Zhu Youliang asked as he sat next to her.
"You don't know, when I was speaking on the stage, I saw two little girls standing on the hill outside the school listening to me. I don't know if what I'm doing is of any use. I'll feel bad if I don't finish writing." Liang Yuan said as he lowered his head and continued writing.
Zhu Youliang was silent for a while, then suddenly said, "Yuanyuan, do you think we should secretly hold a memorial service for the couple downstairs?"
Liang Yuan turned around and asked, "Why did you suddenly think of this? Did Teacher Sun say something?"
"Yeah." Zhu Youliang repeated what Teacher Sun had said before and his reaction after hearing it.
"We have to find a good day, and let Ah Tong help us keep watch."
