"Yun'er! Yun'er! My child!"
"Miss, sob sob sob, Miss..."
Gu Xin stood aside, waiting for the group to come in.
Among the visitors were the parents of the deceased Xie Yun. Madam Xie was so exhausted from crying that her face turned deathly pale, and she was being supported by two old women. Master Xie was also staggering, his face full of grief.
Another person who cried particularly bitterly was Xie Yun's personal maid, Manzhu.
Gu Xin waited until they came in before leaving. To be honest, she felt a little uncomfortable in this kind of setting.
It would remind her that when she had her accident, her parents and grandparents must have been in the same situation.
The separation of life and death, and the grieving of a child by their parents, is the cruelest thing in the world.
Outside the courtyard, Gu Xin took a deep breath and forced herself to calm down.
Her father told her that when investigating a case, she should not be influenced by any external factors, and should not make wrong judgments because of her own emotions, as that would be unfair to others.
Her father told her that she now had a lot of power, and the more power she had, the less she could act recklessly and the more responsible she had to be for that power.
"Young Master Song, let's go!" Gu Xin turned to look at Young Master Song beside her and said.
Young Master Song didn't say much and took Gu Xin back to his home next door.
"Yi'er, is that you back?" A weak voice, accompanied by a cough, came from the room next to the main hall. It must be Mrs. Song.
“Mother, it’s me. I brought Princess Xinxin here for a questioning and to check on your health.” Song Yi said as he walked to the door.
The room was quiet for a moment, then the sound of coughing and breaking bowls could be heard. Song Yi quickly pushed the door open and went in.
Gu Xin followed her inside.
The room was simply and neatly arranged, with a dressing table, several wardrobes, and a vase on the table by the window, with a bunch of wildflowers in it.
There was a medicinal smell in the room, probably because Mrs. Song heard that Princess Xinxin had arrived and got up, accidentally knocking it over.
Gu Xin sniffed and detected several medicinal herbs with particularly strong aromas.
Mrs. Song was about to get out of bed when Gu Xin stepped forward to stop her: "Mrs. Song, you are ill, there's no need for such formalities. I'm just here on routine to inquire about the situation."
"Cough cough cough, cough cough cough..." Mrs. Song covered her mouth with a handkerchief, coughed a few times, then turned back and said weakly, "Thank you for your understanding, Princess."
Gu Xin smiled and shook her head.
Song Yi placed a pillow under Mrs. Song's arm, and Mrs. Song leaned against the headboard, looking weak and somewhat nervous as she looked at Gu Xin: "A body has been found in this courtyard, so I'm afraid it won't be able to be rented out."
Gu Xin didn't respond to her words, but instead reached out and grabbed Mrs. Song's hand: "Mrs. Song, I know a little about medicine. I just smelled the aroma of several medicinal herbs. You have a serious illness, right? Can I take a look at you?"
Mrs. Song was taken aback.
Song Yi looked delighted: "Yes, Princess. Please take a look at my mother. She has been ill for several years."
Mrs. Song probably doesn't go out often. She's only heard that Gu Xin is good at fighting, but she doesn't know that Gu Xin is Grandma Xiao's apprentice.
But Song Yi, a student preparing for the imperial examinations, had so many classmates and heard a lot of gossip, so he naturally knew that Gu Xin was a student of Grandma Xiao.
Grandma Xiao's reputation is now on par with that of the elusive and mysterious Dr. Long.
Grandma Xiao wasn't known for curing any serious illnesses, but her ability to help the emperor and empress recover and successfully give birth to the crown prince proves her medical skills. Even the imperial physicians couldn't help the empress recover and guarantee her pregnancy.
