Grandma Xiao wanted to chat with Grandma Gu, so she did it behind Gu Si's back.
Lu Zheng carried Gu Xin on his back, with a basket of medicine in his hand, including ointment and prepared calming and soothing herbs.
As expected, they didn't encounter any villagers along the way. Everyone was extremely nervous after hearing that a large cat had appeared in the back mountain and almost ate the eldest son and two granddaughters of the Gu family. They went to Zhang Lizheng's house.
Upon reaching the old house, the grandmother and grandson each carried their children and separated.
"Big cat, Dad, Mom, and Sister, run! There's a big cat!" Gu Xin had a nightmare as she approached the door of the new house.
"Xinxin, don't be afraid. With me here, you're not afraid of the big cat," Lu Zheng said softly.
"Big cat, there's a big cat! Dad, Mom, and Sister, run! There's a big cat!" Gu Xin was terrified in her dream and clung tightly to Lu Zheng's neck.
"Xinxin, don't be afraid, don't be afraid." Lu Zheng frowned, gently comforted her, and quickly went to knock on the door.
Only Gu Nian and Gu Hui were in the kitchen. The door was ajar, and Lu Zheng opened it with a knock. Gu Nian was just coming out of the main room to get something when she saw Lu Zheng carrying Gu Xin in.
She put her things on the bench in the street and quickly went over to Lu Zheng, looking at him with some hostility: "What's wrong with Xin Xin?"
"Miss Nian, please let me put the person down first!" Lu Zheng said.
Gu Nian wanted to offer to carry him, but seeing Gu Xin's hands tightly wrapped around Lu Zheng's neck, her little face injured, and her brows furrowed, she couldn't bear it and turned to lead Lu Zheng to Gu Xin's room.
After putting the person down, Gu Hui also came in.
"Come over here to talk, or you'll wake her up." Lu Zheng said softly as he watched Gu Nian cover Gu Xin with the blanket.
Gu Nian glanced at him, then got up and followed him out of the house.
“A big cat appeared on the back mountain, and Xin Xin and Si Si were frightened and suffered some minor injuries. My grandma has already prepared the calming medicine. Boil the medicine in the small bag in cold water for 25 minutes, then put the medicine in the large bag in and boil it together for another half an hour.” Lu Zheng handed the basket to Gu Nian.
“Big Cat? What about Sisi? What about my dad? Is my dad injured?” Gu Hui asked.
“My grandma carried Sisi back home. Uncle Gu wasn’t injured, but he accidentally got some of the medicine powder that Xinxin sprinkled on him. He’s taking a bath at home now to help the medicine take effect,” Lu Zheng said to Gu Hui.
"Brother Yuan, did my dad say what's going on? Why did a big cat suddenly appear?" Hearing that Uncle Gu was taking a bath, Gu Hui gave up the idea of asking.
"I'm not entirely sure either. The itching started when Uncle Gu brought the person over," Lu Zheng said.
"Thank you so much, Young Master Zhou, for carrying Xin Xin back today," Gu Nian said, having calmed down.
"I'm leaving now. I'm going to check on the village head. The villagers are probably discussing going up the mountain to hunt the tiger right now." Lu Zheng nodded and then took his leave.
After taking a few steps, she stopped and turned around, saying, "Miss Nian, Xin Xin is having some nightmares. When I carried her back just now, she kept shouting in fear, 'Dad, Mom, Sister, the big cat is coming! Run!' Please keep an eye on her. Grandma said she should wake up soon."
"Okay, thank you for the reminder, Young Master Zhou," Gu Nian nodded and said.
After Lu Zheng left, Gu Hui also went back to check on Gu Si and her uncle.
Gu Nian checked on Gu Xin's condition, then went to the kitchen to brew her medicine and came back to sit by her bedside to watch over her.
She couldn't help but recall the plot.
