Fortunately, Lu Zheng and Gu Xin only opened the door, saw the sand snake, and did not attack; they simply retreated.
The scent emanating from the net above the snake pit, triggered by the mechanism, didn't travel far, remaining only within the forbidden area.
"General Zhou, where is the princess?" An hour later, Mo Fei and Bai Si arrived with their men. Not seeing Gu Xin, Mo Fei asked anxiously.
"She's preparing medicine. There are poisonous snakes in it," Lu Zheng said, glancing at Mo Fei.
"General, should I go and inform General Wang Gongze and the others?" Bai Si asked.
“Okay, go and take a look. If they’ve resolved the issue, have someone move all the medicine from the royal pharmacy over here.” Lu Zheng nodded.
Bai Si went after receiving the order, while Mo Fei and the other soldiers were instructed by Lu Zheng to guard the forbidden area and prevent the sand snakes from crawling out. He also told everyone to be careful, as these creatures were different from ordinary sand snakes; they were not only venomous but also extremely aggressive.
Half an hour later, Gu Xin came out of the pharmacy, holding a packet of medicine powder in her hand.
"Brother Yuanyuan, I'm not sure if this will work, let's burn a little and try it!" Gu Xin said, about to fly to the wall of the forbidden area, but was stopped by Lu Zheng.
"Give it to me, I'll go. Just burn it into powder, okay?" Lu Zheng snatched the powder.
"Burn it with this hay." Gu Xin grabbed a handful of hay from the garden next door and handed it to Lu Zheng.
It's fortunate that Ajir and the others were preparing to escape, and no one cleaned up the surrounding area. Otherwise, if it had been cleaned up, Gu Xin wouldn't have been able to find anything.
Lu Zheng took the hay, called Mo Fei, and together they flew up to the top of the wall.
The two stood on the wall and saw the situation inside the forbidden area. Lu Zheng was alright; although he had only seen a little bit earlier, he was mentally prepared. But Mo Fei hadn't seen anything and didn't think much of it. As a result, when he saw the yard full of snakes, he was so frightened that he almost fell over. Lu Zheng pulled him up and said, "Light the fire."
Mo Fei glanced at Lu Zheng in surprise and found that the man was very calm.
After learning about Gu Xin and Lu Zheng's relationship, he felt somewhat resentful, but he never showed it because of his father's sacrifice at the time.
Now, Lu Zheng's calmness has inspired him, forcing him to remain calm; he doesn't want to lose to Lu Zheng.
He took out a tinderbox and lit the dry grass.
Lu Zheng sprinkled powder on the hay, and a strange smell emanated from it.
Lu Zheng tied the hay into a knot and threw it into the snake swarm.
The snakes simply moved away from the dry grass without suffering any loss. Instead, they discovered that there were people on the wall and slithered over one by one.
Lu Zheng pulled Mo Fei down and jumped down.
"How is it?" Gu Xin asked nervously.
"They just dispersed; there was no other reaction," Lu Zheng said truthfully.
"Brother Yuan, Xin Xin!" At this moment, Peng Silang came over with a group of people, each carrying a large box.
"We emptied the palace pharmacy to get the medicine Brother Yuan wanted," Peng Silang added.
"Xin Xin, go and see if there's anything you need here. The Princess's pharmacy doesn't have a complete stock of medicines." Lu Zheng nodded to Peng Silang and then spoke to Gu Xin.
Gu Xin checked everything one by one, then called a few soldiers to carry the things in their hands to the pharmacy.
"Si Lang, how is the situation at the palace?" Lu Zheng asked after Gu Xin left.
"It's almost over," Peng Silang laughed, then his eyes widened suddenly. "Sand snake!"
