Chapter 226 Alive

"Is that Uncle Gu?" Lu Zheng asked, hearing the commotion.

"Hmm, why did you come alone?" Gu Shouxin asked.

Both of them had bows, and the big cats didn't dare to climb up, fearing they would be shot if they climbed halfway up. So, the two big cats could only roar angrily under the tree.

"I couldn't sleep, so I tried my luck. And guess what? I was incredibly lucky, I ran into two at once..." Lu Zheng said with a helpless smile.

He's confident he can handle one, but if it's two, he'll have to hide.

Gu Shouxin was in the same situation as him; he could deal with one enemy and escape unscathed, but dealing with two would be quite difficult.

"One head per person, can you manage?" Gu Shouxin asked.

"Second Uncle Gu, are you sure you can do it?" Lu Zheng asked rhetorically.

"Alright! Just don't lose your life! I can't save you!" Gu Shouxin sneered.

"Don't worry, Uncle Gu, you should also be careful," Lu Zheng said.

After they agreed on the terms, they began to take action.

Lu Zheng hid in the tree earlier because there were two big cats, forcing him to do so. Gu Shouxin climbed the tree to check on Lu Zheng's situation.

Gu Nian once said that when Lu Zheng was in his twenties, he led troops and conquered his soldiers with his fists and decisive methods, leading them to win the Great Zhou's greatest victory in decades.

When he ambushed Gu Nian, the father and daughter gave each other no chance to fight back, and they also gained the advantage of disrupting his mind first, so he didn't have a chance to know his true strength.

It sounds easy now, so he'll just trust him this once and see.

After agreeing on the terms, the two drew their bows almost simultaneously. Gu Shouxin had more arrows than Lu Zheng, but he still failed to hit the big cat's vital points.

Big cats have much better eyesight than humans, especially at night.

Although it didn't hit a vital spot, it still hit both sides. The two big cats got angry and, risking being hit, climbed up the tree.

Lu Zheng faced the tiger head directly, using the momentum of his jump to kick the tiger's head. Both of them landed at the same time, rolling twice on the ground. Lu Zheng got up, took the dagger and stabbed it towards the big cat's eyes, but the big cat dodged it.

The tiger's claws lashed out at Lu Zheng. Lu Zheng rolled over, and the big cat pounced, its jaws wide open, about to bite Lu Zheng's neck. Lu Zheng kicked out and swung his dagger again. The man and the tiger remained entangled in this struggle.

Meanwhile, Gu Shouxin saw the big cat climb up and easily leaped to the ground. The big cat followed, and Gu Shouxin punched it. He then pulled out the woodcutter's knife from his back and held it in his hand. The big cat was quick and, angered by the punch, pounced on Gu Shouxin. At the same time, Gu Shouxin chopped the big cat's neck with his axe.

The tiger's roar shook the entire forest, startling the sleeping animals awake, who trembled with fear.

After about half an hour, the tiger's roar gradually disappeared, and apart from the sound of the night wind blowing, there was only the sound of two people breathing in the mountains.

The two were not far apart. After lying there for a while, Gu Shouxin spoke first: "Is he dead?"

Lu Zheng sat up: "Alive! Uncle Gu, wanna drink? It's been so long since I've felt this good!"

Gu Shouxin laughed and said, "You even carry wine with you?"

Lu Zheng got up and walked over: "I wanted to drink a jar of wine to bolster my courage, but then these two big guys showed up. Uncle Gu, wait for me, I'm going to check if the wine jar is still there?"
