The morning after they finalized their agreement, Gu Xin and her group planned to return home.
They left early in the morning, and it was a bit chilly. Lu Zheng wouldn't let Gu Xin sit outside; he let her and Gu Hui sit inside the carriage while he and Meng Meng drove the train outside.
Gu Xin fell asleep again in the car, leaning against Gu Hui.
As soon as she fell asleep, she started dreaming.
In her dream, she earned a lot of money, owned small houses in various prefectures of the Great Zhou Dynasty, and had a large mansion in the capital city, which was said to be the most prosperous place.
The four sisters each had a large, connected house.
They've all grown up, their houses are next to each other, and their families live together, just like in the village, never separated.
She used a room specifically as a storage room—or rather, the secret room that Brother Yuanyuan and Father had talked about. In the secret room, she kept her most important things: a whole room full of silver, copper coins, and silver notes, piled up to the brim.
In her dream, Gu Xin stood at the door with a silly grin, drooling as she looked at the room filled with things!
Suddenly, the pile of silver began to move.
Gu Xin was startled. Was this money begetting more money? Was it making a big commotion? Her aunt's birth of Renren was also quite a big one!
Then she saw a hand emerge from the pile of silver.
Wow! A pile of silver can even give birth to a baby!
"Xinxin, let me out!" A familiar voice emerged from the pile of silver coins.
"Brother Yuanyuan, what are you doing in there!" Gu Xin was extremely surprised.
"I don't know either! Xinxin, let me out!"
"Brother Yuanyuan, I haven't told anyone about this secret room! It's where the most important thing is kept!"
"So you must think I'm just as important to you as silver, which is why you locked me up! Xinxin, pull me out! I can't get out!"
"Oh right, Yuanyuan, you're very important. But your parents, sister, grandparents, and everyone else are important too! Why didn't you take them out of the way?"
"They are your family, but I'm different; I'm a man!"
"man?"
Suddenly, Gu Xin was awakened by the jolting of the carriage.
Gu Xin shook her head. What kind of dream was this?
Then she heard Lu Zheng and Meng Meng whipping their horses to speed up outside, and saw Gu Hui holding a dagger with a serious expression.
"What's wrong, Sister Huihui?" Gu Xin asked.
"Someone is trying to kill you from the shadows! You need to protect yourself," Gu Hui said.
Gu Xin immediately perked up and took out the dagger strapped to her calf.
These were specially made by Gu Shouxin at a blacksmith's shop for the sisters. They were very sharp and small, and could be tied to their calves for easy use. Each person had four.
Suddenly, the horse was shot. Lu Zheng threw down his whip, rushed into the carriage, picked up Gu Xin, and ran out.
This was his subconscious reaction, so he didn't pay any attention to Gu Hui.
Gu Hui didn't think much of it and rolled out with Lu Zheng.
Four people stood back to back under a large tree, surrounded by men in black who were chasing them.
"Xinxin, are you afraid of killing someone?" Lu Zheng revealed a cold expression he had never shown in Sanchakou Village, and even his voice turned cold.
"I'm not afraid," Gu Xin said.
“Okay. Meng Meng and I will break through the gap in a bit. Sister Huihui, you take Xinxin and rush out. There's a post station ahead. Wait for me there. When I say charge, you charge! Don't look back, understand?” Lu Zheng added.
“Okay!” Gu Hui reached out to pull Gu Xin.
Before Gu Xin could react, Lu Zheng and Meng Meng rushed out.
Meng Meng was armed, but Lu Zheng was not. He took a knife to his left arm, grabbed a sword from an assassin, and killed him instantly.
The two killed four people heading towards the post station and led the others in the opposite direction.
"Charge!" Lu Zheng shouted.
