Chapter 2247 The People Around Butler Li

Gu Xin took a deep look at Que'er. She noticed that Que'er didn't seem to be afraid of Feng San's corpse at all. She stood up straight, unlike Ying'er, whose body subconsciously moved away from the bedside and whose legs were trembling slightly.

Gu Xin understood the little girl's fear when facing the dead. She didn't know if it was because of the large number of dead people or something else, but Que'er seemed to be more afraid of the living Mrs. Feng than the corpse of Miss Feng the Third.

When we questioned her in Madam Feng's room just now, Que'er seemed very scared.

"Did you know that Miss Feng died from poisoning, specifically from eating poisonous pastries?" Gu Xin suddenly said after a moment of silence.

Ying'er looked up at Gu Xin in fright, while Que'er also looked up, her face full of confusion.

"Princess, no, no, this servant doesn't know." Coming to her senses, Ying'er quickly waved her hand.

"What don't you know?" Gu Xin asked, frowning.

"Third Miss only eats the cakes and pastries I made. But, but, but I didn't poison them, I didn't know, I really didn't poison them!" Ying'er knelt down and cried.

Her face was filled with panic; she was no longer afraid of the corpse on the bed.

"I didn't say you knew, nor did I say you poisoned her. Are you admitting it yourself?" Gu Xin looked down at her and said coldly.

"No, no, no..." Ying'er shook her head vigorously.

"Princess." Que'er also knelt down, kneeling beside Ying'er. "I also ate the pastries that Ying'er made. When I sent them back to the Sixth Miss yesterday, she didn't want them anymore, so she let me and Ying'er eat them together. Ying'er and I both ate them."

“But Que’er, you brought the pastries from Sixth Miss. You were the only one who encountered them during the whole process, right?” Gu Xin asked Que’er in return.

“Yes.” Que’er was taken aback for a moment, then answered, but did not refute herself.

"But it's a plate of pastries, and we don't know which piece the Third Miss wants to eat!" Ying'er said anxiously from the side.

"So, I'm asking you how much you made yesterday. And how many people were able to get your pastries?" Gu Xin continued.

"I made some in the morning and afternoon, and put them in Sixth Miss's room," Ying'er said.

"Are they still available?" Gu Xin asked again.

"I cook every day, but I haven't cooked yet because of an accident this morning. I only cook as much as I need to eat," Ying'er replied.

"After you finished cooking in the kitchen, did you share it with the others?" Gu Xin asked again.

"No, I don't think so..." Ying'er looked at Que'er uncertainly.

"Yes," Que'er answered without hesitation. "Last night, the Sixth Miss gave the remaining pastries to me and Ying'er, but I didn't finish them all. On my way to the kitchen, I ran into Xiao Shunzi, who said he was hungry. I thought there were still some left, so I gave him the two remaining pastries wrapped in a handkerchief."

"Who is Xiao Shunzi?" Gu Xin asked.

“Xiao Shunzi is the errand boy for Steward Li,” Yun Shi interjected.

"Butler Li?" Gu Xin frowned even more, looking at Ying'er. "Is what she said true?"

"This..." Ying'er looked at Que'er with some difficulty, and then said, "I went to the kitchen with Que'er. When we were almost at the kitchen, I suddenly had a stomachache and went to the outhouse. So, I don't know anything about it."

After saying that, Ying'er lowered her head with some guilt. Why did it start hurting now, when it could have hurt earlier or later?
