Chapter 14 Gift

Gu Xin moved quickly and arrived at the small pond.

This is actually a waterfall, which forms a pond below. In hot weather, children from the surrounding villages like to play here. Just this year, a child from the neighboring village drowned.

Gu Xin mustered her courage and walked to the pond: "Little fish, I've brought you back. Remember, you must hide well from now on, so no one catches you."

After saying that, she poured the fish from the basin into the water.

The fish swam happily in the water, and then jumped up.

"Gu Xin, this is a gift for you."

Gu Xin witnessed the most amazing thing in her life.

The little fish swam in the water for a while, then jumped up and spat something out at her. She instinctively reached out to catch it.

Then she also heard a little baby's voice.

Immediately afterwards, she saw the little fish rush towards the waterfall, leap, and disappear.

Gu Xin stared blankly at the thing in her hand.

A beautiful, translucent jade stone, exactly like the little fish, only much smaller, not even as big as her little hand.

"oops!"

Gu Xin came to her senses and was so frightened that she wanted to throw the jade pendant away.

An even more miraculous thing happened: the jade stone suddenly disappeared.

"Huh? Where did it go? Where did it go?"

Gu Xin panicked and just stretched out her hands, looking down at the ground.

Then the jade stone appeared in her palm.

Gu Xin felt like she couldn't think straight anymore.

"Gu Xin, this is a gift for you. Thank you for saving me and giving me time to leap over the Dragon Gate. Accept it; it will be in your hands whenever you want it. After I leap over the Dragon Gate, I will be going to find my Dragon King father. Remember, don't let anyone else see this gift. Goodbye, Gu Xin!"

Just then, the little child's voice came from the waterfall again.

Gu Xin finally calmed down.

She had heard the myth of the carp leaping over the dragon gate before; it was told to her by her grandfather.

Her grandfather knew many interesting stories and told her about the nine sons of the dragon, each different from the other.

I also told her that after a while, the little snake will turn into a python, then a boa constrictor, and then what? It seems that after two more stages, it will transform into a dragon.

Fortunately, her grandfather had told her a story to prepare her, otherwise she would have been terrified today.

In the hearts of the people of the Great Zhou Dynasty, dragons existed in the world, and they were very magical beings, just like the gods in the heavens.

Therefore, this was a gift from the gods, and she was not afraid.

After Gu Xin understood, she thanked the waterfall, saying, "Thank you, Little Fish!"

However, there has been no further response.

Seeing that it was getting dark, Gu Xin left, returned to the spot she had been at, and carried her small basket down the mountain.

She tried it several times along the way. Whenever she thought about it, the jade stone would appear; when she didn't, it would disappear from her palm.

"Xinxin?"

As Gu Xin passed by the old house, she was about to greet her grandparents and ask if her father had gone home when she ran into Gu Shouxin, who was coming out of the house.

Gu Shouxin was expressionless at first, but when he saw that the basket Gu Xin was carrying on her back reached the back of her knees, his brows involuntarily furrowed.

"Dad, I was just about to call you! I carried a huge load of firewood on my back today! And I also..."

She had originally intended to tell Xiaoyu about saving her, but she stopped herself in time, as Xiaoyu had told her not to tell anyone.

This belongs to Xiaoyu. Although I gave it to her, she can't just tell anyone about it.
