Gu Xin's forehead started to ache again. She silently told herself that she would only have two children at most in the future; any more would be too terrifying.
Fortunately, her brother Yuanyuan only has one older sister and no other brothers. Otherwise, even if she had two children, it would be a real hassle if others had several!
She felt once again that having many children was lively, but not really fun.
Grandpa Gu was used to this kind of scene. Before Gu Xin came back, Gu Ren and Xiao Mingyue loved to tease the children. Every time they made the children cry, the two of them would run away.
Gu Xin was very impressed when she saw her grandfather calm down the children in no time.
Seeing her stunned expression, Gu Nian laughed and said, "Xin Xin, you don't know, whether it's our family or other people's little kids, they all smile like idiots when they see our grandpa."
Gu Xin: "I know! It used to be like that in the village too. Babies who weren't even a year old would smile when they saw their grandfathers. Everyone said that their grandfathers lived long lives!"
Grandpa Gu chuckled and said, "Children love to see smiling faces. If you smile at him, he'll naturally smile back."
Gu Si shook her head: "No, no, no, that's not true at all! Grandpa is a handsome old man, that's why they're laughing. If you send them to those drunken old men, those slovenly old men, do you see if they laugh or cry? Grandpa is the most handsome old man I've ever seen!"
Gu Xin looked at Gu Si: "Oh, Si Si, you've learned to say flattering things now!"
Gu Nian: "What are you saying! Is this what you call being tactful? This is stating the facts!"
Gu Si nodded: "Yes, that's true! Third Sister, do you dare say that our Grandpa isn't the most handsome old man?"
Gu Xin waved her hand: "I was wrong, I was wrong. Grandpa is the most handsome old man!"
"Hahahaha..." Grandpa Gu chuckled and stroked his beard. "You girls, are you all here to tease your grandpa? You're so old, what's the point of talking about what's best?"
“They’re not wrong.” At that moment, Grandma Gu walked in. “Brother Chuan, you’ve always been the most handsome. You were the most handsome young man when you were young, the most handsome uncle when you were middle-aged, and now that you’re old, you’re still the most handsome grandpa!”
Grandpa Gu blushed when he heard this.
Gu Nian, Gu Xin, and Gu Si were fed another mouthful of dog food (a Chinese slang term for witnessing public displays of affection). Gu Xin felt like she couldn't eat breakfast anymore, but now that she was with her grandparents, she wouldn't be hungry at all!
The three sisters got together, with Gu Xin and Gu Si assisting Gu Nian while Gu Nian was the head chef. Grandpa and Grandma Gu chatted in the kitchen, just like they had returned to their old house in Sanchakou Village.
Cheng Huaijin and Gu Yingxue played with Yun Ge'er and the other little ones outside for a while. When they reached the door and saw the harmonious atmosphere inside, they couldn't bear to disturb them and turned to leave.
When they arrived at the garden, the younger children were having a great time, so it wasn't convenient for the two of them to join in.
"Brother Xiao Jin, are you leaving with the western delegation, or are you coming with us?" Gu Yingxue asked Cheng Huaijin, tilting her head.
"I'll go with my grandparents and second uncle. First to Kuncheng, then to Qingzhou. My father will go to the capital with the delegation first. I'll go bury Xiaoyu first, then I'll go." Cheng Huaijin turned to look at Gu Yingxue and said.
"Can I go to Qingzhou with you?" Gu Yingxue asked softly. Seeing Cheng Huaijin looking over again, she carefully assured him, "I just want to see my sister's burial. I won't follow Brother Xiaojin to the capital, I promise."
Cheng Huaijin pursed his lips, gave Gu Yingxue a deep look, and then looked away: "Whatever you want."
