Chapter 1578 Going Back

Peng Mu did not stay overnight at Cheng Huaiyu's place; he went back to the palace to attend a banquet that evening.

This was his first time visiting the Kingdom of Lange. Many of the ministers in Lange had never seen him before. He was now the only son of the King of Lange and was rightfully to inherit the throne.

That evening, a palace attendant brought over a bowl of infertility-preventing soup.

"Miss Cheng, this is a gift from the King, as a token of appreciation for your hard work serving the Prince along the way. Drink it!" The eunuch's shrill voice was filled with disdain.

"Thank you for the reward, Your Majesty!" Cheng Huaiyu didn't ask any questions and drank the medicine bowl.

She could guess that this was a medicinal soup meant to prevent her from having children, but so what? If she didn't drink it, she might be executed tonight.

She took off the jade bracelet she was wearing and gave it to the eunuch: "Thank you for making this trip, sir."

The eunuch accepted the gift, saying, "Miss Cheng is a wise woman. I have accepted Miss Cheng's gift, and I would also like to advise her to find something to do in her spare time. The prince is a man destined for great things, and His Majesty does not want the prince to be distracted by trivial matters."

Cheng Huaiyu smiled and nodded: "Thank you for the reminder, Father-in-law!"

After seeing the eunuch off, Cheng Huaiyu had her maid fetch water for her to take a bath.

After washing up, she went to bed.

For several days after that, she stayed obediently in the house, and Peng Mu only came once.

In the past few days, Cheng Huaiyu has also figured out how the entire mansion operates. She called the steward and asked him to buy some silk thread and fabric from Jiangnan, as she wanted to do some embroidery.

The steward naturally obeyed; the prince had instructed that as long as Miss Cheng didn't go out, he had to listen to whatever she said.

In the afternoon, the steward directly invited the merchant from that shop over.

The people who arrived were Xie Nanfeng and his companions.

Cheng Huaiyu didn't say much, but picked out some fabrics, and Xie Nanfeng and the others took the ones she didn't choose back.

When Xie Nanfeng and his companions returned to the shop, he carried one of the pieces of pale yellow cloth into the room. He spread the cloth out and, sure enough, there was a note inside with a drawing on it, highlighting Xingnan Kingdom.

Xie Nanfeng immediately understood that Peng Mu and the others were returning to Langge Kingdom from Xingnan Kingdom.

In other words, there are people in Xingnan Kingdom who are colluding with Langge Kingdom.

Xie Nanfeng wasn't sure if he could trust Cheng Huaiyu, but Peng Mu and Cheng Huaiyu had already arrived in Langge Kingdom, and he had to send this message back.

It's not feasible to send a message back from Lange by carrier pigeon now, but this message must be sent.

If Cheng Huaiyu is not lying, Xingnan Kingdom could pose a threat to the north.

Xie Nanfeng thought about it all night and made a decision the next morning.

He decided to risk his life to venture into the snow-capped mountains, as that was the shortest route and the only way to find a loophole.

He told his brothers that during his absence, they should do nothing but keep track of what happened in the capital each day. No one was allowed to act rashly before receiving further instructions.

The people who came with him all took notes.

Xie Nanfeng immediately packed his things and set off.

He carried silk fabrics from Jiangnan along the way, pretending to be a merchant heading west, but ended up selling his goods halfway through and walking alone in the woods.

To the north of Langge Kingdom, where it borders the former Sand God Kingdom, lies a snow-capped mountain that never melts. For the past six months, nothing has happened to the snow-capped mountain, so the guards here haven't been very strict.

After hiding here for three days and figuring out the guards, Xie Nanfeng found an opportunity when there were no guards around on the third night and entered the snow mountain.

In just half a night, he came to understand how difficult things had been for Miss Gu.
