"Do you know who the deceased was often with before his death, Mr. Du?" Gu Xin asked again.
"I don't know about that. Qiangzi doesn't like to socialize, but because he used to work as a shop assistant, he can talk to a few of the other shop assistants." Du Sanniang pointed to the shop assistants around her.
Seeing the eager expressions on the guys' faces, Gu Xin said, "One at a time, let's start from here."
“Princess, Qiangzi was bullied last month. I saw that he was injured, tied up with ropes, and punched and kicked!” a waiter stepped forward and said.
"When did this happen? How come I didn't know?" Du Sanniang asked, frowning.
"Boss, those guys are really ruthless. They don't hit your face, they hit your body. Qiangzi deliberately didn't let you see it! After he unloaded the fish and shrimp in the kitchen, he got wet, so he rolled up his sleeves, and that's when I saw it and even asked him about it." The waiter replied, "Qiangzi definitely wouldn't tell me. It was the uncle next door who told me. He's the one who taught Qiangzi."
"Then tell me, who hit him? What's the grudge between them?" Gu Xin asked.
“Your Highness, they’re actually from the fishing villages by the sea. Qiangzi is amazing; he always catches a lot when he goes out to sea. They see that Qiangzi only associates with my uncle next door and otherwise keeps to himself. They also know that Qiangzi has no relatives or family, so they bully him!” the waiter said.
"Does this happen often?" Gu Xin asked again.
"I'm not entirely sure about that either. Some of the uncles mentioned that they saw it two or three times and even advised Qiangzi to join a fleet. Although the harvest would be less, at least his safety would be guaranteed. Qiangzi refused; he just wanted to make more money. The uncles said that Qiangzi said being hit once was nothing; he'd get a lot of silver from it. He's tough, and he recovered in two or three days. Those guys wouldn't dare kill him!" The waiter sighed.
"Didn't Qiangzi hold a grudge?" Gu Xin asked again.
"I don't know about this one. Qiangzi is the kind of person who doesn't usually show what he's thinking. No one can tell if he's happy or unhappy." The waiter said, glancing at Du Sanniang.
"Boss Du, did the deceased confide in you about anything else?" Gu Xin asked Du San Niang again.
Du Sanniang shook her head.
She has told me everything she knows; she doesn't know much else.
She did indeed sympathize with the mother and child, and she might have paid more attention to them than others. However, she wasn't a particularly enthusiastic person; after all, it was someone else's business, and this was the most enthusiastic thing she could do.
"Next!" Gu Xin ordered another waiter.
"Princess, my home is quite close to Qiangzi's house. I've heard rumors about why Qiangzi and Aunt Zhong had a fight. But I don't know if it's true or not, so I don't know if I should say it." The waiter, who was pointed to by Gu Xin, stepped forward and said hesitantly.
"You're obviously trying to say this! Why ask? You just want people to think the princess told you to say it, so you won't be accused of spreading rumors!" the first waiter said disdainfully.
There was also disdain among the waiters. For example, the first waiter who spoke up disliked the gossipy mouth of the waiter who was now replying to Gu Xin.
He probably only heard about this recently; otherwise, everyone in Qi'an Town would probably already know.
