Chapter 183 We're only listening to you because we're sick

"We have to get up early tomorrow, you girls should go back to sleep! I have to go to town, your mother is acting up again, saying she's not feeling well, Doctor Jiang told me to go get some medicine." Gu Shouxin sighed.

"Huh? I just heard Auntie scolding Simei. Why does she need to take medicine now?" Gu Xin asked in surprise.

"Shh!" Uncle Gu gestured for her to be quiet, glanced into the room, and said, "Don't let her hear us, or she'll scold you too tomorrow. Your grandma said that postpartum confinement is a big deal for a woman, and she can only act up for two or three more days. Let's be accommodating to her for now. Once she's out of confinement, she won't be able to act up anymore."

"Oh, oh!" Gu Xin and Gu Si nodded their little heads.

Gu Nian and Gu Hui were speechless. It turned out that their aunt (my mother) was making a last-ditch effort, enjoying the last few days of indulgence from her family!

Okay, then after she finishes her postpartum confinement, let her regret it and encourage her to keep having little brothers and sisters.

Gu Hui felt that her mother was doing well during her postpartum period; at most, she would bring her a meal, and she couldn't go out and cause trouble.

Gu Nian, however, felt that once her aunt finished her postpartum confinement, her mother's life would be much more enjoyable. Taking up her mother's time would affect her earning money! It was better for her to stay in confinement.

"Alright, I'm leaving now, you all go to sleep!" Uncle Gu patted each of them on the head from tallest to shortest, then left. After a few steps, he turned back. "By the way, from now on you all need to line up from tallest to shortest, so it'll be easier for me to tap you."

The Gu sisters: "..."

We only listen to you because we're sick.

Then the sisters went back to their respective homes.

The next day, just as dawn broke (5 a.m.), the four sisters met up and headed to the Cai family home with the tools they had prepared.

Winter mornings are dark, and it gets light very late.

Gu Xin and Gu Si had already found out that Cai Dacheng and his wife had gone to the prefectural city yesterday and hadn't returned yet; only the two brothers were at home.

Gu Hui easily climbed over the Cai family's courtyard wall and opened the door.

They sneaked into the Cai family's house and easily found the two brothers' room. Each brother brought his sister with him, and they put them in pairs. First, they gagged them, blindfolded them, tied them with ropes, and put them in sacks.

Gu Hui carried Cai Bao, Gu Nian carried Cai Tou, and Gu Xin and Gu Si each carried a fire poker. Whenever the two brothers dared to misbehave on the road, Gu Xin and Gu Si would give them a good whack on the butt.

We easily arrived at the cemetery by taking a shortcut through a less populated area.

Two families in the village had dogs. At first, the dogs barked and chased after them, but once they got closer, the dogs stopped barking and followed behind them.

Although the four sisters were curious about the situation, they remained silent.

When they arrived at the gravesite of Cai's mother, the four sisters punched and kicked the sack, and a series of pitiful screams came from inside.

Gu Xin and Gu Si still used fire pokers, specifically targeting the fleshy parts of the Cai brothers, even though the Cai brothers didn't have much flesh on their bodies.

The four sisters were all sweating before they stopped. The older sisters untied the two women, lit an oil lamp in a corner, and then ran away.

The older sister led her younger sister up a tree, found a sturdy trunk, and there they watched intently as they observed the movements in front of the grave.

Cai Bao and Cai Tou quickly regained their hand mobility and laboriously pulled themselves out of the sack using only their hands.

"Sir, spare me! Sir, spare me!"

The two brothers were cowards; they thought they had been robbed. Judging from their injuries, only an old man would do that, not a young girl.
