Chapter 39 I like this feeling

Hearing the noise, Gu Shouxin turned his head, saw it was Gu Xin, and asked with a smile, "Xin Xin, why don't you sleep a little longer?"

Gu Xin went out the door, down a few steps, and walked to Gu Shouxin: "Dad, I'm used to getting up at this time. Dad, the chili peppers have sprouted!"

Gu Xin hesitated, wondering whether she should tell Gu Shouxin about her jade fish and jade beads.

Because the little fish said it couldn't be told to anyone else.

"Yes! The chili peppers have sprouted!" Gu Shouxin said, looking at the chili peppers in the field.

"Father, I'll go wake Mother and Sister up to see." Gu Xin said, turning around and running back.

She still didn't plan to tell her father, so she had to leave for a while; otherwise, her father would definitely see through her lie.

Gu Shouxin found Gu Xin's reaction perfectly normal and had no suspicions.

He had originally planned to wake Cai Xiaolian up, but he got distracted and Gu Xin came out.

The family of four stood by the vegetable garden again, and apart from Gu Xin, the other three were somewhat bewildered.

Could this be the cheat code that allowed this family of three to time travel? A shared cheat code?

"Should we send these chilies to be sold along with the others?" Gu Shouxin was the first to speak.

"No!" Gu Nian said without hesitation. "Dad, with these chili peppers, I can make lots of delicious food. Dad, you just take the cucumbers and eggplants, and leave the rest to me."

“Yes, I believe in Nian Nian,” Cai Xiaolian agreed.

“Alright! I’ll go to the old house to borrow the oxcart first. I already talked to my parents about it the day before yesterday.” Gu Shouxin didn’t care about the money from selling vegetables.

After saying that, he went out.

"Xinxin, come here, let Mom do your hair. We'll come and collect the chili peppers after breakfast, and your sister will make something delicious for you." Cai Xiaolian led Gu Xin to comb her hair.

She stopped thinking about it; thinking too much wouldn't help her figure things out.

Gu Nian, like her, went back to her room to tidy up, then washed up and made breakfast.

For breakfast, I cooked white rice porridge, made sweet and sour cucumber, stir-fried cabbage, and boiled two eggs for each person.

After returning home and having breakfast, Gu Shouxin loaded baskets of eggplants and cucumbers onto the oxcart. He had previously told the old family that he wanted to borrow the cart to go to Yuzhou Prefecture to visit his former teacher and ask him for advice on where to start if he wanted to continue his studies. Of course, this was just an excuse.

Although Grandma Gu and Grandpa Gu didn't quite believe that he had really reformed, they were still willing to give him a chance.

Anyway, the cows don't need to work in the fields during the winter, so I might as well lend them to my son.

"Your Excellency, you must remember that cucumbers and eggplants are scarce this season, so the prices must be higher than usual. Also, take the raincoats and hats here, in case it rains. Niannian just boiled some eggs, so take them with you; they can help you eat if you get hungry on the road," Cai Xiaolian whispered to him at the door.

"Okay." Gu Shouxin listened patiently and then responded.

"Dad, come back soon!" Gu Nian said with a smile as she led Gu Xin out.

"Dad, I have two copper coins for you. Grandpa gave them to me, saying I can buy candy and steamed buns." Gu Xin spread out her small hand, revealing two copper coins.

This was something she had secretly hidden away. In the past, her grandparents in the old house would give her five coins on her birthday and during the New Year, but Gu Nian would always snatch them away. This was something she had saved up for many years.

"Thank you, Xinxin! Dad will buy you candy and steamed buns when I get back!" Gu Shouxin accepted the copper coin from his daughter.

He liked the feeling of being cared for; so this is what it's like to have a wife and daughters!
