Chapter 1984 Opening

The Duke of Zhenguo may have made mistakes, but it is undeniable that he was a kind person.

Of course, if it turns out that what happened back then was exactly as Lu Zheng and the others knew, Gu Xin wouldn't care about so much anymore.

...

On the fourth day of the Lunar New Year, shops on the streets of Beijing began to open one after another. The weather was good this year, and more and more people were going out shopping.

The bookstore that Gu Ren and Lu Zheng collaborated on opened on the fourth day of the Lunar New Year.

Back in Kuncheng, Lu Zheng brought his bookstore team to Kuncheng and placed them under the command of the Gu brothers, Gu En and Gu Ren.

Now that Gu Ren is seven years old and Gu En is busy with his studies, Gu Ren is in charge of almost everything at the bookstore.

On the second night of the lunar new year, Gu Ren went to test the young prince, but he couldn't find out anything. If the bookstore hadn't opened, he probably would have gone to the palace to find the young prince in the next couple of days.

Gu Ren and Lu Zheng's bookstore is called Tianwai Bookstore. It mainly sells Gu Ren's new works from the past few years and those to be released in the future, along with some local history and cultural works. So the works are not related to the imperial examination.

Gu Ren didn't write his own works. Instead, he selected a group of people from the people Lu Zheng gave him, told them stories, polished them with their writing skills, and then wrote them out one by one before printing and selling them.

Only the Gu family and the people at the bookstore knew that it was all Gu Ren's idea; everyone else thought it was written by the people at the bookstore.

Gu Ren didn't want that title; he just wanted people to enjoy the stories and to make lots of money.

Anyway, he never thought about becoming an official in his life. He had thought it through. He would let Enzi work hard and work even harder, and then he would rely on Enzi for protection. As for himself, he would develop like his father, the Duke of Chengen, and the Prince of Kang. That would be the greatest thing in life.

So, while you're still young, do as many things as you can, and when you grow up you'll have enough money to live a carefree life.

On the opening day, Gu Xin brought Gu En, Gu Si, and Gu Yingxue to show their support. They also gave Gu Ren a big gift: each of them wrote a character, which was framed and hung up by Gu Ren.

Gu Ren's lips were pursed into a thin slit.

My brother Enzi's handwriting can be used as a reference to show off in the future. Why are you three girls getting involved?

Unfortunately, he had no say in the Gu family, and he couldn't go against the female lead singer he had created, so he obediently accepted it.

After giving their gifts, Gu Xin and the others browsed around the bookstore. There were many new works there, the first time they had been published, and no one had read them yet, so it wasn't boring at all.

It wasn't boring at all; on the contrary, it was quite lively.

It was packed shortly after it opened.

Gu Ren looked at the shopkeeper smugly. "Hmph, you're the same old you. I told you hiring a few helpers would be useful. Now you believe me?"

The shopkeeper had indeed trusted this young master.

He really didn't expect that on such a big holiday, especially since it was the fourth day of the Lunar New Year and the shop was a bookstore, it would have such good business. He was really busy calculating.

"Renren, you must have made a lot of money today. Shouldn't you treat us to a meal tonight?" Gu Xin looked at all the customers, then stopped looking at herself and went to chat with Gu Ren. She poked his head and asked with a smile.

"Please, you must! I've already had my mother send someone to buy things, and I'll pay for it. I'll treat everyone to a meal. I've also invited my great-grandmother and the others!" Gu Ren said proudly.
