"Cough, cough, cough..." The person on the ground coughed up water and regained consciousness.
"Grandma, Sister Yumei has woken up!" Gu Xin exclaimed in surprise as she used this method to save someone for the first time.
"Is that Yu Mei?" Grandma Gu asked, bringing the oil lamp closer.
Sun Yumei looked at the grandmother and grandson in front of her, somewhat bewildered.
She hadn't seen the Gu family for over a year.
"Grandma Gu, Xinxin?" Sun Yumei called out uncertainly.
"Sister-in-law Yumei, I knew it was you! What brings you to Kuncheng? Why did you jump into the lake?" Gu Xin didn't mind that Sun Yumei was all wet, and hugged her shoulders without any hesitation.
"Alright, Xinxin, let's go back first. It's so cold outside, and they're both soaked. Be careful they don't catch a cold. Oh, and don't call her sister-in-law anymore, call her older sister." Grandma Gu helped Gu Xinxin up.
Sun Yumei stared blankly, her mind a complete blank.
Gu Xin supported her arm: "Sister-in-law Yu Mei, Sister Yu Mei, let's go, let's go back first! Can you walk by yourself? Or I'll have Bai Er carry you!"
Bai Er walked over and bent down with his back to Sun Yumei.
Grandma Gu sighed and went to the other side to help Sun Yumei up.
Bai Er carried her on his back, and the group went back together.
When they returned home, the Gu family was also shocked by Sun Yumei's sudden appearance in Kuncheng.
It takes at least ten days to get from Gyeongju to Kunseong!
Gu Xin found the herbs and had the maid cook two bowls for Sun Yumei and Bai Er to drink.
The whole family hadn't taken a bath for half a month, so tonight they used all the pots in the kitchen to keep the water boiling.
Grandma Gu and Gu Xin hadn't washed yet, and they were worried that Sun Yumei would get cold, so they let Sun Yumei wash first.
While Sun Yumei was taking a bath, Gu Xin brought in a bucket of hot water.
"Sister Yumei, the kitchen is preparing food. I just took your pulse. Have you been very tired lately? You don't seem to be doing well! But I don't really know much about this. I'll have Grandma Xiao take another look at you tomorrow!" Gu Xin brought over a stool, sat down by the wooden tub, and dried Sun Yumei's hair.
"Xinxin, it's been over a year since I last saw you. You've grown taller and more beautiful," Sun Yumei said softly without answering her.
"Because I've grown up! You used to say that I'd be very pretty once I grew up and blossomed! Hehe..." Gu Xin laughed.
Sun Yumei turned her head: "Thank you, Xinxin, for saving me, but..."
Gu Xin interrupted her: "Sister Yumei, although I don't know what happened to you, I want to tell you that no matter how difficult things are, you must not think about taking your own life. We only have one life, and you are not even twenty years old yet. You have a long road ahead of you! Didn't you tell me before that our Great Zhou is very big, with many beautiful places, delicious food, and interesting people? You said that maybe one day we can go to those places, eat those foods, and meet those people. So, don't give up on yourself."
Sun Yumei and Gu Hui are the same age. She married into Sanchakou Village at the age of fifteen and divorced Wang Tiezhu at the age of sixteen. Only two years have passed, and she is now eighteen years old.
Her time in Sanchakou Village did indeed bring Gu Xin many wonderful memories.
Before she got married, she was pampered by her seven older brothers. She was a positive and optimistic girl, which also brought some positive influence to Gu Xin.
Now, Gu Xin is using the words she once said to comfort her. She feels a little emotional. She really wishes that time could stand still, before she got married, so that she wouldn't have to go through all this pain.
