Standing next to Gu Xin, Cheng Huaijin still felt it was all too real. Had they really captured the leader of the Sand Bandits?
He nudged Gu Xin with his elbow: "Xin Xin, you were absolutely right! You said we could catch them today, and we succeeded."
Gu Xin smiled brightly: "Brother Xiao Jin, actually this is easy to figure out. Usually, when the people of the Flowing Sand Kingdom encounter sand bandits, they either accept their fate or refuse to fight, because they are afraid of them. So, this emboldens them. They probably didn't expect that we knew where they were, and that we could capture their leader so easily! This is a failure as a leader!"
Gu Xin looked at the sand bandit leader lying in the sand, still gritting his teeth and enduring the pain.
"Are you from the Great Zhou?" the leader of the Sand Bandits suddenly asked.
Gu Xin spoke the Great Zhou dialect with Cheng Huaijin, but when she spoke to Sha Kou, she used only a few simple words, making it difficult to detect her accent.
Although the leader of the Sand Bandits asked this question, he was quite certain of it.
"Oh ho, so you're from the Great Zhou too!" Gu Xin's eyes lit up. She took two steps toward the leader of the sand bandits, but Cheng Huaijin stopped her. He was still quite cautious. Even though the leader had been poisoned and tied up, who knew if he had any backup plans?
"It's alright, Brother Jin. At most, he'll use poison on me. He'll only stop using it if he doesn't want the antidote himself." Gu Xin patted Cheng Huaijin, not telling him that she wasn't afraid of being poisoned.
Cheng Huaijin remained by Gu Xin's side, watching the bandit leader warily.
"Where in the Great Zhou are you from? Didn't the Langge Kingdom block the east-west roads? How did you appear? I've never seen you before in the Liusha Kingdom!" the Sand Bandit leader asked in the Great Zhou language.
"Qingzhou. And you?" Gu Xin asked with a smile.
“Kunzhou,” the leader of the Sand Bandits replied.
“Alright, since we’re all from the Great Zhou, it’s easier for us to communicate, and I can explain my purpose.” Gu Xin squatted down, looking at the leader of the sand bandits. “I want you to work for me. Since you know that the Langge Kingdom has blocked the east-west roads, you must also know about the alliance between the Langge Kingdom and the Yunhai Tribe. What I want to do is break this alliance, and then we’ll snatch people from the Yunhai Tribe, cross the desert, and attack back. How about it?”
"Ha, what a pipe dream!" The leader of the sand bandits glanced at Gu Xin with disdain, then closed his eyes; he was in too much pain.
Hey, you even know idioms, not bad, not bad.
Gu Xin didn't plan to say too much to him right now. She called her men to carry the people one by one onto the wooden planks that had been prepared, and had several camels carry them.
She didn't give these people the antidote yet, letting them suffer for a while first.
She won't need to show her face; that big mole will explain the poison to them, and the bandit leader will come looking for her.
Looking at Gu Xin riding on horseback, Cheng Huaijin felt as if he had been transported to another world.
If it were Sister Niannian, she would definitely be just as smart and confident as Xinxin! Niannian is already very smart and confident.
Cheng Huaijin shook his head. No, he couldn't think about it anymore. Nian Nian was already engaged. He should keep these thoughts to himself.
Gu Xin noticed Cheng Huaijin's gaze and sighed inwardly. Sigh, there are so many people who like my sister!
Nobody likes her except for Yuan Yuan Ge. Well, one Yuan Yuan Ge is enough.
She had forgotten all the silly things Peng Sanlang had done when he liked her.
I wonder where Brother Yuanyuan is, and whether he encountered any danger in Lange Kingdom. He certainly didn't encounter any danger; Brother Yuanyuan won't be in any danger.
