Chapter 1975 Father is Even Scarier

Gu Shouxin nodded and let Lu Zheng take the person away. Gu's uncle wanted to chase after them, but the Emperor and Prince Kang pulled him back to the living room.

Uncle Gu was still cursing and swearing, wanting to go find the Duke of Zhenguo, but after being given a look by Grandpa Gu, he quieted down.

Gu Shouxin was puzzled. He had never seen the old man look like that before. The old man was usually tolerant of his children and grandchildren and rarely lost his temper. How come his older brother stopped making trouble after just one look?

Grandpa Huo and Grandpa Peng also invited Grandpa Gu and Grandpa Zhou to play mahjong. These old folks didn't have much official business to discuss, so they just wanted to have some fun. They were getting old and needed less sleep, so this was a good way to pass the time.

"Big brother, why did you suddenly become afraid of Dad just now?" Gu Shouxin asked his eldest uncle after Grandpa Gu and the others went to the flower hall to play cards.

"Second brother, have you forgotten? When we were little, we took Jia-jie to the pond behind the mountain and almost drowned her. Mom almost beat me to death, but Dad was even more terrifying. You really don't remember?" Uncle Gu recalled his unforgettable memories, then thought of Gu Shouxin when he was a child, and pursed his lips, "It's normal that you don't remember. Back then, you were a good student, but you were also very disloyal. You pretended to faint, so Mom and Dad all turned their anger on me. Anyway, I know you didn't actually faint."

"What's so terrifying about my royal uncle? Tell me about it!" The emperor became interested.

Gu Shouxin searched his memory but couldn't find any relevant fragments. It seemed the original owner hadn't taken this matter to heart. Besides, it was something from his childhood; so much time had passed, it was normal to have forgotten.

The original owner was indeed someone who frequently caused trouble for his brother. Because he caused so many troubles, he couldn't remember every single one of them.

"My mother almost beat me to death, but she definitely didn't really kill me! She just hit me hard. But my father, you guys don't know, he locked me in a dark room for three days and three nights. He wouldn't give me food, wouldn't talk to me, he only gave me water." Uncle Gu was still scared when he thought about the three days and three nights he spent in the dark room when he was a child.

"What's there to be afraid of if you're locked up? It just means you won't get any food and you'll go hungry." The emperor said dismissively.

Prince Kang and Duke Cheng'en didn't think much of it; being hungry wasn't actually that bad.

"Being alone in a dark place for three days and three nights without hearing any noise is indeed frightening," Gu Shouxin said, believing his uncle's words.

He had also tormented people like this before he transmigrated. He would lock someone up alone in a dark room, where they couldn't see any light. No one else would appear for three days, giving the illusion that you were the only person left in the world. It was quiet and dark, which was indeed terrifying.

"Really?" Emperor Kang and Duke Cheng'en looked at Gu Shouxin in disbelief.

“Oh, why don’t you go back and try it yourselves!” Uncle Gu said. “Remember, it must be a place where you can’t see any light at all, with nothing in it except water. For three days and three nights, no one is allowed to appear. Anyway, I almost went crazy after three days. I couldn’t even stand it on the first night.”

“From then on, I knew that when my father was serious or angry, he would behave obediently. My mother was alright; if you misbehaved, she would at most give you a beating, but she wouldn’t kill you, just make you feel a little pain. But my father’s methods of punishing you were unbearable. So, I generally don’t provoke my father,” Uncle Gu sighed.
