It was already dark when the carriage returned to Sanchakou Village.
After dropping the person off at the Gu family home, Lu Zheng said goodbye and then took his grandmother home.
"Huh? It really is a donkey cart! But the driver is not right!" Uncle Gu was taking a walk after dinner when he heard the noise, so he went to the kitchen and brought out an oil lamp.
"Is there any leftover rice at home?" Grandma Gu asked.
"That's all. We thought you guys would play all day, so my wife and I finished the rest. We couldn't waste it! My stomach is still pretty full, so I'm taking a walk to eat!" Gu Shouxin said.
"Grandpa and Grandma, I'll go back and make it! It'll be simple and won't take long," Gu Nian said.
"Okay, that works. I'll give you a hand!" Grandpa Gu said.
"Grandpa, you should rest. You've been on the road for so long. Let Sister Huihui help me!" Gu Nian waved to Gu Hui with a smile.
Gu Hui crossed her arms and slowly walked out.
The emperor glanced at them and thought, "Hmm, I can see that. The women of the Gu family are stronger than the men. They don't look like they're easy to mess with!"
The four sisters went back first.
Gu Xin and Gu Si tended the fire, while Gu Nian and Gu Hui worked together well, one chopping and preparing vegetables and the other cooking rice.
Gu Nian told Gu Hui and Gu Si about the emperor and Xue Qianyu, but didn't reveal their true identities. She only said that they met in the city, and that the two of them couldn't outdrink Gu Shouxin and then became his cronies.
Gu Hui was somewhat surprised: "Then how bad must your alcohol tolerance be? You can't even outdrink your second uncle."
Gu Nian laughed and said, "Why do you say the same thing as Third Aunt?"
Gu Hui: "I'm telling the truth! My second uncle has a low alcohol tolerance! He's been drunk under the table by my third aunt before!"

One pot is used to steam rice, another to stir-fry vegetables, and yet another to boil sausages.
The rice is steamed and the sausage is cooked, but there are still two dishes that haven't been stir-fried.
Gu Nian asked Gu Xin and Gu Si to go and call for help, while she would watch over the fire.
Once Gu Nian had finished cooking all the dishes, everyone else had arrived.
Sliced sausage, twice-cooked pork with pickled chili peppers, shredded pork with pickled pepper potatoes, cucumber and egg soup, and stir-fried bok choy.
Gu Nian dared not use the newly grown vegetables to cook for everyone; they had only received the seeds a few days ago.
However, by February, many of them could be taken out.
Uncle Gu came over to help tie up the donkey and then went back. He was afraid that if he saw the food Gu Nian had made, he would be tempted to eat it again, as his stomach was simply too full!
Gu Nian took a storage table and set it up for the four guards as well.
Then everyone sat down and ate together.
"Hey, this tastes pretty good! It must be made with chili peppers and rice noodles! It goes well with rice! Not bad, not bad!" the emperor said after eating the twice-cooked pork with chili peppers.
"Uncle Ye, that... that stuff inside is shredded like meat. If you can figure out what it is, I'll give you a whole basket!" Gu Xin pointed to the pickled pepper potato and shredded meat.
"Oh? There's nothing in this world I haven't eaten!" The emperor picked up a piece, removing the bright red pickled peppers and shredded meat, and ate only the shredded potatoes.
He swallowed it whole, not knowing what it was.
I took another bite, and still, I didn't know.
Gu Xin chuckled mischievously, "Sigh, I was planning to give a basket to Uncle Ye, but it seems I won't have the chance! Hehe~"
The emperor picked up another piece of food with his chopsticks: "Little niece, what is this? Did you dig it up in the mountains?"
