Princess Jinghe whistled cheerfully, attracting the attention of everyone around her.
Upon seeing that it was Pengze, everyone silently turned their heads and went about their business, but their eyes were still fixed on this side.
Gu Hui looked at Peng Ze calmly, without backing down.
Peng Ze opened and clenched his fist repeatedly, finally pulling Gu Hui into his arms: "You've taken a fancy to this general? You want to be this general's woman?"
Those who are close by really want to strain their ears to hear the gossip.
Gu Hui was quite tall, but she only reached Peng Ze's chin. She adjusted her posture, stood on tiptoe, and tossed the spear to Princess Jinghe. She put one hand on Peng Ze's shoulder and the other on his chin: "This humble servant suspects that General Peng has taken a fancy to this humble servant and wants to be this humble servant's man!"
Under the moonlight, the surroundings were very quiet. Their eyes met, and they could even hear each other's heartbeats.
"Huihui!" Suddenly, a scream broke the quiet and ambiguous atmosphere.
Uncle Gu rushed over, pulled Gu Hui aside, and glared at Peng Ze: "Hey, you brat, why are you bullying my daughter?"
The person in Peng Ze's arms was pulled away. He felt a moment of loss and looked at Uncle Gu: "Uncle Gu, I didn't bully her. She bullied me."
Uncle Gu didn't believe it at all: "Nonsense! Look at how tall you are. My daughter is so frail, how could she bully you? Tell me, what did she do to offend you? Oh right, she's in your mother's army, not under your command, so why are you disciplining her?"
Peng Ze: "...Uncle Gu, are you serious? Miss Gu is so delicate?"
Uncle Gu was displeased. This kid was calling his daughter unruly. He rolled up his sleeves and said, "You brat, compared to you, which girl isn't gentle and delicate?"
Peng Ze thought about it and agreed, nodding, "Uncle Gu is right."
Princess Jinghe, always eager for a good show, tugged at Uncle Gu's sleeve: "Uncle, General Ze has invited Sister Hui to the Lantern Festival next year! What do you think he means by that?"
Uncle Gu's eyes widened in disbelief as he looked at Peng Ze, then at Gu Hui.
Unfortunately, neither of them offered an explanation.
Uncle Gu was getting uneasy. He looked at Gu Si and asked, "Sisi, really?"
Gu Si nodded: "General Ze said that if my sister doesn't go to the lantern festival with him next year, he's going to come to our house and take her away."
Peng Ze smirked.
Uncle Gu looked at Gu Hui: "Huihui, have you taken a fancy to him?"
Gu Hui didn't answer, but asked instead, "Dad, what do you think? If you don't think it's good, I'll change it!"
Peng Ze: "!"
He glared at Gu Hui. That damned woman, she actually looked down on me!
Uncle Gu looked Peng Ze up and down, and seeing him glaring at Gu Hui, he said unhappily, "Don't think that just because you've met all my requirements for a son-in-law you can glare at my daughter. You brat, let me tell you, my Huihui is the best girl in the world, and you're not allowed to bully her!"
After saying that, he pulled Gu Hui aside and whispered, "Hui, you really like him? It's not that he's no good, it's just that he looks a bit fierce."
Gu Hui: "It's alright."
Uncle Gu glared at Gu Hui: "What do you mean 'okay'? I've seen him a few times, and I've never seen him smile. If a person doesn't like to smile, life is meaningless! Hui, you've really fallen for him."
Gu Hui patted her uncle's shoulder: "Dad, don't overthink it. Don't you know me? You should worry about him!"
Uncle Gu thought about it and realized that made sense. With his eldest daughter by his side, how could he not worry about that man?
