Is Chapter 55 worth it?

Upon arriving in town, Gu Shouxin and Cai Xiaolian did not go to the area where the street vendors gathered, because they knew that their target customers would not be found there.

They arrived at the West Market of the town, which is close to the dock. There is a street there with various shops such as restaurants, inns, and snack shops.

Of course, there are also small stalls, but not many.

The family of four found a small stall selling jade and rouge and set up their own stall next to it.

Behind them, there was a dried fruit shop and a pastry shop.

The vendors next door breathed a sigh of relief when they saw them bring out basins and other items.

He didn't want anyone to steal his business. There were too many stalls selling jade and rouge on this street. Although what they sold wasn't real, it was fake, the young ladies and gentlemen in town still loved to come here!

As long as they're not here to steal our business!

"Hey, bro, what are you selling here? All these bowls, are they food? Why don't you go to the North City area? There are more food stalls there!" the stall owner next door asked curiously.

"Oh? You sell food in Taipei? We didn't know that! This is our first time selling things here, so we don't know anything about it. But since we're already here, we'll just set up here today. Hope we're not bothering you, young man?" Cai Xiaolian asked with a smile.

Gu Xin blinked her big eyes. They had just passed through Beishi! Why did her mother say she didn't know?

"No bother, no bother! Sister-in-law, what is this?" The vendor shook her head, sniffed the pot, and thought the contents smelled delicious. She was getting hungry.

"These are homemade pastries! I won't talk to you yet, let's set them out and chat later!" Cai Xiaolian said, starting to tidy up.

Instead of bringing their oxcarts here, they went to the livestock market to have someone they knew watch them.

This acquaintance is from Sanchakou Village. He's a kind old man surnamed Guo, known as Grandpa Guo. He's a driver who specializes in driving from the town to Sanchakou Village and the surrounding villages, making two round trips a day.

Place a tray on the basket, then take out a large plate, and arrange the cut cakes neatly in the shape of large bowls.

"It smells so good, sister-in-law! What is this food? How much is it?" The stall next door couldn't help but ask after seeing what it was.

"This is called a cake, a pastry made with eggs. Three pieces for 100 coins, or one piece for 35 coins. Young man, would you like a piece?" Cai Xiaolian explained, then picked out a piece.

"What? Thirty-five coins a piece? You're robbing me! What kind of eggs are these?" the vendor exclaimed in surprise.

"Uncle, we're not robbing you, we're just doing business! Don't talk nonsense!" Gu Xin mustered her courage, clenched her fist, and said unhappily.

Those people outside are so mean! My older cousin is absolutely right. It's clearly a good product, but these people want to buy it and they're trying to drive down the price. They're really wicked!

Is it easy for her dad to whip egg whites in the morning?

Moreover, she secretly added a bowl of water while her sister was steaming the food, and there were jade beads in the water.

The jade beads were a divine gift from the little carp; this is outrageous!

“Little sister, I’m not talking nonsense! Look at that Red Bean Shop over there. They have the pastries that the people in town love to eat the most. The kind your mother is holding only costs ten coins a piece. Your mother is selling it for thirty-five coins. Isn’t that robbery?” The vendor patiently defended himself.

Gu Xin pursed her lips, unsure how to retort, and just stared at the vendor, looking unhappy.
