"Third Miss, you've arrived! I was just about to ask the waiter to deliver the message!" As soon as she arrived at the inn's entrance, she saw Dongxue coming down from upstairs and running excitedly to Gu Xin.
"Is he awake?" Gu Xin asked.
"Yes, she's awake! But she won't speak. She won't respond to anything I say, and she's not interested in any of the delicious food I offer! I'll have to send someone to invite you," Dongxue said.
"Okay, have the waiter prepare some light food. I'll go upstairs and check on things." Gu Xin nodded, then went upstairs to the room where the silly girl was staying.
Just as Dongxue said, Shaya was awake, but she didn't speak and stared blankly at the ceiling. However, her blank stare was different from the blank stare she had before.
"Miss Shuyan," Gu Xin called softly as she walked to the bedside.
She had just learned her cousin's maiden name from Fatty Wang, but she wasn't sure if it was true, so she had no choice but to try.
The silly girl's eyes moved, and then she turned her head with some difficulty to look at Gu Xin.
Gu Xin smiled.
"Who are you?" The silly girl's voice was a little hoarse. She had been unconscious for two days and hadn't eaten or spoken. Her water was fed to her by Dongxue every now and then, and even then, it wasn't guaranteed that she would drink it all.
“I’m your cousin’s friend, Gu Xin. Your cousin, Wang Shoucheng, that chubby boy, do you remember him?” Gu Xin asked.
"Small town, is the small town here?" After a long pause, the silly girl finally remembered this person and asked. After asking, she frowned again, "Miss Gu, where is this?"
"Miss Shu, let me pour you a glass of water first, help you sit up and drink it, then we can talk slowly, okay?" Gu Xin asked.
"Thank you." The silly girl's reaction was a little slow; it took her a while to seem to understand what Gu Xin was saying.
"You're welcome." Gu Xin bent down to help the person up, then placed a cushion on the bedside table so that she could lean against it, before turning around to pour water.
She didn't put the jade beads in the pot for the silly girl; it was just warm water.
The silly girl felt a pain in her forehead. She was somewhat confused and couldn't remember what had happened.
"Miss Shu, have some water first. This is an inn in Tongzhou Prefecture. I've had someone prepare some food for you. You've been unconscious for two days now, and you can't go without food. You also have an injury on your forehead. You need to eat so your dressings can be changed properly and heal faster." Gu Xin saw that she could raise her hand to touch her forehead, so she figured that there was nothing wrong with her body except that she was a little weak from not eating. Therefore, she handed her a teacup so that she could drink it herself.
The silly girl has been awake for a while now. Although she is still quite limp, it doesn't hinder her movement of her hands and feet.
"Thank you." She took the teacup and sipped the water.
After finishing his drink, he handed the cup to Gu Xin, who took it without hesitation and put it aside.
"Miss Gu, you said this is Tongzhou Prefecture. I didn't die. Did you save me?" The silly girl asked after a moment of silence.
“Miss Shu, before answering this question, may I ask you a question? You were clearly in Jiangnan, so why are you in Tongzhou? Who brought you here?” Gu Xin asked.
"I..." The silly girl suddenly frowned, then covered her head with both hands, feeling as if needles were pricking her brain, and looked extremely painful.
"Miss Shu, relax and don't think about it." Gu Xin sat down next to her and reached out to press a few acupoints on her.
Gradually, the silly girl calmed down, but a fine layer of sweat covered her forehead, soaking the cloth wrapped around it. Her wound had reopened, and blood stained the cloth.
