Chapter 2044 Follow along

After Gu Xin returned home, everyone in the family rested, except for Gu Shouxin and Cai Xiaolian, who were still busy. One of them was reading a book, and the other was making plans.

Because Gu Xin returned home within the hour she had said she would, her husband didn't say anything to her, only telling her to go to bed early because they had important things to do the next morning.

Gu Sixian returned and told his family about the Emperor's arrangements for Gu Xin, so everyone in the family knew that Gu Xin was going to the Dali Temple tomorrow.

Gu Xin returned to her courtyard and actually practiced a set of sword techniques until she was sweating all over before washing up and going to bed.

...

On the fifth day of the second lunar month, Gu Xin got up very early in the morning.

He had his maid comb his hair into a bun, and then found some men's clothing for him to wear. He also had Dongxue change into men's clothing and dress as a man.

After breakfast, I took Dongxue out.

"Lanlan, do you think Xinxin is a good match?" Grandpa Gu was very worried about his granddaughter. After Gu Xinxin went out, he asked with a worried look.

"Brother Chuan, didn't we agree that we wouldn't care what the younger generation does? As long as they don't commit crimes or do anything wrong, we'll let them do whatever they want. Whether it works out or not, we'll know in a few days, won't we?" Grandma Gu patted Grandpa Gu's hand, comforting him.

"Sigh! Ever since Xinxin came back from the West, I've been thinking that we should spoil this child from now on, give her the best, and make her the happiest girl in the Great Zhou. I don't want her to work so hard anymore," Grandpa Gu sighed and said.

"Brother Chuan, you weren't like this before. You always told me that the greatest happiness is for children to do what they love. Now that Xinxin is doing what she loves, what are we worried about? If something happens to Xinxin in Beijing, then it's either the second son's fault or that kid Lu Zheng's fault! So, Brother Chuan, don't worry. If you're really worried, I'll go with you to Wangjia Village," Grandma Gu said with a smile.

After decades, she feels that her attitude towards Brother Chuan has now reversed.

"That's a good idea. We'll take a few people and go there, just to watch from a distance." Grandpa Gu thought it was a good idea.

So the old couple went back to their room to pack, then called two guards and left the city together.

They went directly to Wangjia Village, while Gu Xin still needed to go to Dali Temple, so they arrived first.

Just as Gu Xin and Lu Zheng had guessed last night, Lord Qin had received a message from the Emperor, but he did not appear. He only sent two of his men to take Gu Xin with him.

On the way, Gu Xin asked, "Where is Young Master Zheng?"

Qin's subordinate reported: "Your Highness, Xiao Qiu is at the mortuary. The bodies of the deceased family have all been moved there."

Gu Xin nodded: "Don't call me princess, just call me Young Master Gu. By the way, isn't the mortuary not far from Wangjia Village?"

Gu Xin already learned about this yesterday. Wangjia Village is the closest village to the capital, and the mortuary is located on a mountain between Wangjia Village and the capital.

Qin's subordinate: "Yes, sir, it's Young Master Gu. The mortuary is just outside Wangjia Village; it takes about 15 minutes by carriage."

Gu Xin nodded: "Okay, then after we get to the scene, we'll go to the mortuary to find Xiao Qiu!"

Gu Xin also started calling out to Xiao Qiu.

Qin's subordinate: "Ah? Princess, oh no, Third Young Master, are you really going to the mortuary? Perhaps you shouldn't go!"

Gu Xin waved her hand: "Go, I have to go! Do you think I'm scared? I'm really not scared. I've probably seen more dead people than there are buried on that hill in the mortuary."
