Chapter 34 Who is the tool?

The crown prince felt a little guilty as he spoke. He figured he didn't want to attend court anyway, and he had no interest in the throne, so he decided to play along. He found someone with a similar illness to him and had them pretend to be him, while he hid in the deep courtyard and farmed.

"Farming?!"

The emperor couldn't believe his ears: abandoning his position as crown prince to go and farm!

The crown prince lowered his head even further, because he had anticipated that his father would react this way, which was why he hadn't told them.

Although some people want to be the crown prince or the emperor, and would fight tooth and nail to become one, not everyone wants that. He just wants to live a simple life, farming, being filial to his parents, being kind to his brothers, marrying a quiet and gentle girl, and living a life free from intrigue and scheming.

The emperor was so angry that he wanted to teach the crown prince another lesson, but he had hurt his back while he was scolding him too harshly. Now, whenever he got angry, his back would throb with pain.

"You, you better go to court properly tomorrow!"

After uttering these words, the emperor stormed off, but after taking a couple of steps, he turned back, pointed at the crown prince, and asked, "Have you found out who the mastermind is?"

The crown prince honestly shook his head, "After that, there were no further clues, and there's no way to investigate."

There's really nothing suspicious, because the Third Prince hasn't taken any further action.

Chuanwen sat aside, watching the drama unfold. He was quite disappointed that the Crown Prince hadn't been beaten again. However, at that moment, both the Emperor and the Third Prince had a sudden realization.

[That's why the Third Prince is so cautious. He stopped immediately as soon as things were exposed. Otherwise, he wouldn't have been able to hide so well until his power grew out of control before the Emperor discovered it.]

[What a pity, by the time the emperor discovered the third prince's ambition, he was already a lamb to the slaughter.]

The emperor was not only experiencing a buzzing in his head, but also tinnitus. So, was it the third prince who killed him? For the throne?

[Sigh, actually the Third Prince is quite pitiful. It's all because the Emperor only cares about giving birth but not raising the children. He's a terrible father, no wonder the Third Prince resents him.]

The emperor didn't believe it. Last time he caught a cold, his third son personally brewed the medicine and brought it to him. He cared deeply for his father. How could he possibly hate him!

However, his face quickly darkened. He didn't object to his sons vying for the throne. As men, anyone with a bit of ambition would want to be the ruler of the world. Of course, he might be an exception, given his foolish crown prince! But he would never allow lives to be lost in the struggle for the throne!

The Emperor left with a gloomy face, and the Empress sighed. Speaking of the Third Prince, she felt quite guilty. During that time, she was pregnant and handed over the management of the six palaces to Consort De. Afterwards, she accidentally miscarried and was heartbroken for a long time, so she had no heart to manage the six palaces. Otherwise, Consort De wouldn't have been able to run rampant in the harem. When she later rallied and regained control of the six palaces, she discovered that Consort De had already caused the deaths of many people, including the Third Prince's birth mother.

The next morning at court, the crown prince, who had lost his disguise, came to court obediently. The ministers were not only surprised that the crown prince was so strong, but they were even more surprised that another chair had been placed under the dragon throne!

In the Golden Palace, the emperor sat firmly on the dragon throne, with civil and military officials lined up on both sides. Chuanwen, holding the infant princess in his arms, sat below the emperor, and the scene fell into an eerie silence.

Chuanwen was so embarrassed he could have dug a three-bedroom apartment out of his toes. [Why are you all staring at me! I didn't want to sit here either. Wouldn't it be better to be gnawing on pig's trotters in the harem?]

[I'm so upset! I'm sitting here and overhearing too much, will I get silenced?]

[This is so tragic! She was such a vicious little cannon fodder, and now she's just a tool? Emperor, you're such a doting father, can't you hold your own daughter? Why are you making trouble for others?!]

The innocent little princess, a true tool for the emperor, nestled in Chuanwen's arms and sucked her fingers. The ministers, listening to Chuanwen's rambling thoughts, silently wiped away sweat from their brows. "You didn't just hear too much, you knew too much!"

The ministers stole glances at the emperor's face, expecting to see a dark expression. However, the emperor paid no attention to Chuanwen's inner complaints. Instead, he smiled at them, looking extremely pleased. His eyes shone with joy, as if to say, "My beloved ministers, welcome your spring!"

The civil and military officials were all feeling a chill down their spines and suddenly felt a little dizzy. Should they ask for leave first?

[Hmm? Where is the Third Prince?]

Chuanwen looked down in confusion and did not see the Third Prince, who should have been standing in the front row. The ministers were all startled and secretly searched for the Third Prince. Sure enough, the Third Prince was not there!

[Holy crap! The Emperor sent the Third Prince to Qingzhou to train troops! The Emperor is so far away, isn't he afraid the Third Prince will rebel?]

While Chuanwen was happily munching on a melon, the emperor's smile turned into a cold sneer. He was actually afraid that Chuanwen wouldn't rebel!

The ministers, however, all showed different expressions.

The Crown Prince is not sick but very healthy, so the Third Prince is of little use. The Emperor gives the Third Prince military power, which seems to be a sign of continued importance, but Qingzhou is a remote and mountainous place, which is actually an exile of the Third Prince from the capital. As long as the Crown Prince is around, the Third Prince will never be able to sit on the throne of the Emperor!

The interests of the ministers began to be re-evaluated. Those who had been won over by the Third Prince began to think about how to break away from him and join the Crown Prince's camp. Those who had originally stood by the Crown Prince began to rejoice. "Crown Prince, you have finally not disappointed this old minister!"

"Minister Zhao, what happened to your face?"

The emperor looked at Zhao Dajia, the assistant director of the Ministry of Revenue, whose eye was black and blue. Zhao Dajia quickly stepped forward and said, "Your Majesty, I'm fine. I just accidentally bumped into the door and hit it. It's nothing serious."

He originally wanted to ask for leave today, but thinking that going to court despite his injury would show the emperor how diligent he was, he came with a sense of righteous indignation.
