The emperor felt a lump in his throat, tugged at the corners of his mouth, and then steeled himself, deciding to be honest. It was better for him to tell the truth himself than for this girl to do so.

The emperor performed a one-second face-changing act for Chuanwen, putting the pastry he was about to hand to Chuanwen back onto the plate.

The emperor completely ignored Chuanwen's true feelings, saying, "Even if you eat me out of house and home, I won't give you any!"
Then, he rummaged through a pile of memorials and pulled out a few sketchbooks that he had just hidden away. "Jinmei, take a look at these sketchbooks. They are really well-written."
The Empress was taken aback when she saw the Emperor take out the colorful sketchbook. When did the Emperor start to like collecting and reading sketchbooks?
The Emperor quickly offered an explanation, fearing it would tarnish his image as a perfect, masculine man in Jinmei's eyes.
"The things in these picture books are incredible. Take this thing called a cannon, for example. If we could build it, which small country wouldn't come to submit to us!"
"Furthermore, it says that the earth we live on is called the Earth, and it is round, with many countries living beneath our feet."
